I just wanted to thank you for going over the way enmity works. I've never really understood it because as soon as I started looking at all the math I'd just go cross eyed and give up. You made it pretty simple to follow along, so thank you so much for that!
i remember bard'ing for a blu tank back in crawlers nest in the 75 cap days. he was surprised i was able to keep him ballad in the hidden room where i couldn't see him. cocoon was the main guy back in the day.
Awesome job Rua & co.! Glad to see this video made and the discussion continue. Just like to say I completely agree about WAR having an advantage over most other DD jobs. The fact that it gets so many good gear options for tanking just gives it an edge over other DDs(being on a lot of the same gear as PLD really helps). I feel like in the first video it was treated as "it does a shit load of damage so it holds hate" which wouldn't really explain why it was on the list in the first place because you could say the same for any job. (which I think is what a lot of poeple were upset and arguing about). Anyways, great job explaining enmity and further expanding on those things, was an awesome video to watch! Cheers and see you in future vids.
curious about your thoughts on Dancer, since on paper it has a subset of tools that seem designed for tanking like Fan Dance, Animated Flourish, and Waltzes. I'm not advocating for it to be included in the main four from your last video, it's probably beside Blue Mage in that regard, but the omission even from that list strikes me as odd. Is it that bad, or is Dancer just overlooked? In practice, I've found that those are emergency tools for not immediately crumpling like paper if they overtake the tank in hate moreso than full-on tanking for a party, but part of me still wants to try it when I get some +enmity gear -- I've got Terpsichore (afterglowed but r0) and the Malignance set to handle TP generation for Waltzes, at least.
I'd like to hear which situations where a nin does a better job tanking than other jobs. If you need low tp feed, then a none-engaged pld or run works better, unless you want your tank to do damage, then a mnk will do that much better.
@@mthebubble6565 I watched the video and it has some good points, but I also play this game and a lot of this is about opinion and how much people play certain jobs to understand their capabilities
hmmm nin tank is probably at its best with another ninja or a mnk with a low tp feed strat but the fight still has a dps checkor if the mob has a citadel buster class move, or a stab type move
People don't remember the 75 Level Cap days....Ninja was my Paladin's Chagrin. Do you know how hard it was to level a PLD or merit with one...back when Ninjas could sub warrior and do absolutely freaking rediculous damage, WHILE never getting hit? I get that Ninja very clearly was NEVER meant to tank. Never....if you look at Rise of the Zilart, Ninja was supposed to be a close range debuff/DPS/Support combo class, while Samurai was obviously supposed to be a Parry Tank. It didn't turn out that way, mostly because Utsusemi shadows initially could take multiple AoE spells Multi-Hit monster abilities at the cost of one shadow...meaning they were the easiest tank to keep alive. The one Bonus Paladins had: Back then we were THE HNM tank of choice, on my server anyways. And once you slogged to 75, then you could find a DPS job to bring up to merit with, having learned how to best build a party from having to as a PLD (no one would invite you back then on my server if even a terrible Ninja was LFG). And finally; as a PLD at 75 you knew the best WHMs on my server because they were the ones you partied with and you both suffered your baptism by fire. Same with RDMs and BRDs....as a PLD I could tell Linkshells which of these I thought were the best because they would be the ones that knew how to give me Ballad and tanking songs while making sure the DPSes got their songs. Or they knew how to refresh me and use debuffs while assisting the WHM with heals as needed on the fly.
I know this video is a year old but is SAM not a tank at 99 like it was able to back at 75 cap. Sure most people ran it as a DD at 75 but it had some amazing peices for tanking. It also feels much better for tanking than WAR does to me on eden but I'm still leveling it so that might be why as my highest job is my 63 RDM
Fact. Absorb-Attri and Dispel don't land 100% anymore. It's still high accuracy (75% approximately) but if you're unlucky when the puppet uses it when it really needs to, it can potentially lead to a wipe or your puppet getting taken down.
As much as I loves the videos, Tanks seem situational overall. A great run may make u think run is great overall, a Pld eating popcorn watching something could also be the best tank you seen. Or even a skilled DPS can make you think there a great tank. In the end it matters what is that best for for the situation. It just trickles down in a way. A great run is great, a great pld is great and so forth, as nin and pup comes into to play it's based more on party setup and or skill(like all). So is everything tho, I'd rather go mnk and switch to counter set or a hybrid /counter and -dt then eat dirt on another dps.

Really well done. Can't agree more on the power of Fudo Masamune Path C. Great explanation on Enmity!

Final Fantasy gives such great visuals for character jobs. Love whatever job is shown at the beginning, ninja i think.
Thanks for your contribution to the community.
A rough time indeed. Love your videos.

Nelekets if pure dmg was the case than my RNG would be an awesome tank lol but we all know BLM has higher base def lol

Ashley Hill I’ll be uploading videos of it in the near future.
Someone didn’t watch the video. Just because mnk can take a beating, that doesn’t make them a tank. Perhaps an off-tank. But not a main tank.

One of the updates a while back changed the dispel/absorb-attri attachments so that they're no longer 100% :( Those were good times
Tek Tam oh damn, I didn’t know that happened.
