Hey Ruau, thanks again for another awesome video guide! I've watched all of them now. I just wanted to make a comment about axe. You said that Great Axe is warrior's only option for Light, but with Mistral Axe or Decimation you can make Light with other weapons too. It just can't generate light within an Axe only skillchain(outside of using Cloudsplitter which usually isn't ideal). Also, didn't mention Calamity. Calamity might be axe's best TP scaling move. I find it usually hits a little harder than Mistral Axe, because it has a VIT modifier also. However, Mistral Axe is a much better chaining option for parties, as Calamity can only be involved in level 1 chains. But, one advantage of Calamity, is that if used in a rotation with Decimation and Ruinator, can make an infinite level 1 skillchain loop between reverberation, impaction, and detonation. Needless to say, this is great with Dolichenus! EDIT: So, I feel Calamity is a great choice for Axe in situations where you can't or won't be contributing to a chain, just for solid reliable 1 hit ws damage. Great guide though, very insightful!
Nelekets That’s a fair assessment. Calamity really slipped my mind and those would have been the points I’d have made for it. Pinned for people to see.
I'm really glad to see someone remembers Calamity. I left the game at lvl 75 age. I used to one shot grinding mobs (lv 75) with calamity, 300% TP + Mighty Strikes, just for fun.
"Do not, under any circumstances whatsoever, use Warcry from a subjob." THANK YOU. This drives me nuts when I'm paired with someone that's /WAR when I'm on WAR. I've had mine overwritten quite a bunch.
I don't even play the game anymore, maybe 2-3 months a year tops. But I always watch these videos. These videos are the best detailed guides FFXI has ever had. You are a legend.
Donnt even give a shit dude ... This man with the way he describes when a job excels at something is absolutely amazing. The passion mixed with the word choice is exactly why I listen. "When you activate mighty strikes, its not just physical attacks but WS, Mutlihit WS, so be prepared for your damage to shoot into freaking orbit"
As a new War player, you should focus on Kaja axe and Ambuscade rewards. Decimation is on pare with Rema weapons making it one of the best build for new players.
Here is the FFXIAH thread I mentioned. The best Weapon Skill sets are there, I ran out of time here sadly. www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/35200/the-parthenon-a-warriors-kyklos/#high Oh, right. In case people are wondering why I'm not using a Shield in certain clips... I am, I've just done a little trick to hide it from the character model. Here is how it's done. 1. Take lockstyle off. 2. Equip a two handed weapon and a grip. 3. Put on your desired lockstyle but make sure you have your one-handed weapon included in the lockstyle set. 4. You can now hide your Shield, you keep it's benefits though. Blocking with your arm looks awesome as well.
So if I'm starting a new character today and want to go war, obviously I work towards a chango, but do I use axe, great sword, polearm, or sword for solo trust playing and jp and exemplar point farming in parties while I'm working towards the chango?
Hi Rua, do you use a separate resolution set for mighty strike/brazen rush ws spam and what does that set look like? I've seen some use valorous with crit dmg augs.
hey man should i just be getting XP from overworld monsters? L30, I have trusts unlocked and am at (mining city) mission 2-2 althought its not being offered as a quest by the guards. no idea how to go from there
Have you tried using Abyssea TP Bonus offhand axe for Savage Blade? Curious on your thoughts when compared to Savage Blade Fencer build. Yes, you do lose ACC, but how do you think it compares to fencer build when a loss of ACC isn't an issue?
Huh... seems other than couple new abilities, Warrior really hasn't changed much. This and bard were my main party jobs. Though, I was main tank most the time save for few times we had a paladin player willing to actually tank ;P It still saddens me they killed off Warrior's use of crossbows... Before they boosted jobs higher than 75, warriors could effectivly use cross bows as extra damage plus use various effect bolts like blind and blood bolts. Even sleep bolts were awesome.
What's your recording setup? Sounds really good. (Mic, whatever software you may or may not use) Also I don't even play FFXI, I'm actually a FFXIV player. But learning about FFXI is weirdly intriguing to me. There are elements of the job design from XI that bleeds into XIV sometimes and it's very cool to see. I can tell you put a ton of time into your guides and they're very well put together.
I use a Blue Yeti Snowball microphone along with AudioCable and VoiceMeeter software. I also went to my local music shop and got a studio pop filter, seems to do an okay job. Cheers for the complement, it took a while to get it down like this.
It's a bit late of a response, but Eden looks to have staying power. If it's any encouragement, I just started yesterday, and that's after playing on Nasomi for a handful of years.
I wish there would be videos like this for 75 Era. Eden is so much fun compared to retail. Just dont join Nasomi its an awfull server and tricks peeps with its player count. Eden is the best pserver i tried so far.
If you're into 75 cap, that's cool. Me personally, I don't understand the point of returning to an era we all played thru years ago. TOAU was a great expansion and I got some cool gear, and more importantly had some good times. But there's no way in hell I'd go back to that crappy quality of life, having tasted 2019 as a character. It's way better now!

After nearly 20 years, we finally have solid game info and guides TH-cam.

I love how you stand in front of the fountain where you get the Bravura relic Great Axe.
moeloehoe Someone spotted it!

I love playing warrior! Thanks for the help, dedication matters to learning as much as commitment to mastery. You sir, succeed at both. Thanks you!
I'm a new player currently leveling a warrior. This is some great information. Hopefully still relevant now.
I don't even play FFXI anymore I just like your voice lol.
Lumindor same. He needs to do ASMR videos.

Love your guides, man! Would love to see a Thief or Summoner guide!
Awesome review from my favorite FFXI TubeCaster.
I have plds in my LS who use warcry for enmity gain. I want to shoot them when I'm playing on my WAR.
I'm having so much problem getting back in. Says I have 2 characters and I don't.
25:19 is my moment of fame! Mrfreaky!
I've played FFXI since NA launch. WAR tanks were a thing for a while until PLD became more available.
great guide. making me wanna play this job now :p

Making want to play again..just wish old friends still played :c
no idea if it's your voice, the mic or both, but the audio is soothing af.
Wooo! I was in da video! I mean sure my room didn't make it on screen... But my name was in the pt... It's not much, but it's honest work... :3
Thanks for making this video - I enjoy watching your content.
Is Scythe not a weapon that warriors use later on?

Love your job guides man keep it up

BRING THE PAIN
Okay, starting the video now.
May I please ask, especially in 2023, why isn't Double Attack merits be 5/5? =)
retaliation does not give = tp gain to regular hits,it used to but they adjusted it years ago
also don't underestimate calamity

Man, I wish I could have played this game during its heyday. I've tried private servers but they keep getting deleted on me so I gave up :(
It's a bit late of a response, but Eden looks to have staying power. If it's any encouragement, I just started yesterday, and that's after playing on Nasomi for a handful of years.
Hurizanxi. Best privet server I have played I think it’s better the retail
Good job 👍🏻
Are u still on the game I have some question if so
Yeah, usually around here on weekends.
What's the best english speaking server for me to join?
Winter? Where do you live, im melting right now (EU).
R1PFake New Zealand, Southern Hemisphere so the seasons are inverted. Height on winter here,
your offhand is just nothing? Try putting a Blurred Shield+1 there for the Fencer +1 ACC and ATK +20 and +7% WS damage
Can you do lvl 75 guides for private servers?
Christmas in July.
MAKE A BRD GUIDE! IM DYING HERE ON THE PRIVATE SERVERS!
i came here to see if you guys press fell cleave too
edit: hell yea
So I am to assume that bravura is useless now >.
When was it not?
Montante (+1) is not the best GS, Raetic Algol (+1) is
