as someone who eats a ton of soy mock meat that needs to be hydrated, a very nice way to hydrate them to remove the soy "taste" is with boiling water, lemon juice and vinegar. allow them to soak for at least 25 minutes in the mix, and use the acids generously. then squeeze the liquid out, and rinse under running water, squeeze again and repeat this process about two times. it works for any preparation that requires soy curls or chunks!!
@@soscarlet it just means using a lot! for a cup of soy i usually do am entire lemon squeezed and about 5 tablespoons of vinegar. that makes the soy really neutral in taste and ready to absorb any spices you use
Beef and Broccoli used to be my favorite Chinese food dish before going off meat. I can't wait to try this, I have missed it so much!!! And I love to eat mine with rice and hot Chinese mustard.
Just made this and it’s SO GOOD! I haven’t had “beef” flavored anything in years and it was just like I remembered but better! And also my first time trying soy curls and can’t wait to use them more. This is going to become a staple in my house- thank you thank you thank you!
I make something similar to this with the soy curls. It’s called peppered “beef” and served on rice. Has lots of green bell peppers, onions and garlic with also soy sauce. Then use soy curls like you do here. It’s YUMMY. Soy curls are sooo good.
I loved your sesame "chicken" takeout recipe, but this one was even more of a hit with the nonvegans in my household! Made it last night! Perfectly savory!
Just got your cookbook and I love it. I felt like I was in such a rut with my cooking. Now I am inspired again. I also love your sheet pan recipe, please gives us more.
Sooooooo happy I stumbled across this recipe! Just recently discovered the soy curls and I am making more and more delicious dinners using this modest soy product. We no longer eat at Chinese restaurants (because of high oil content and because I suspect they use chicken broth in their dishes) and I really, really, really have missed this dish. So thank you ever so much for sharing your talents with a growing vegan community. Delicious!
What a great and easy recipe! I find soy shreds at our local Asian market, which are very much like Butler's soy curls. They've got a slightly different texture, but cook the same way. This might be an option if you've got a local Asian market you shop from!
Hi Caitlin!🌷🙏 Pleasure to meet you. My name is Mirna I follow the Starch Solution. My daughter finally decided to go plant based. This is a perfect meal idea for us! 😍 Thank you!!!🌷🙏🤗
This looks wonderful! I’ve been going back and forth over buying soy curls, think this has tipped the scales. Thank you for sharing another inspiring recipe.
Thank you so much for turning me on to these soy curls! I had no idea they existed and now I'm coming up with so many new recipes to use these in. I just reordered a new batch from Amazon. Feel free to show us even more ideas on how we can cook with these healthy little nuggets !
Definitely making this! I love your Chinese chicken takeout recipe 😍 I saw on another vegan YT channel that a good way to remove the soy taste from the curls is to sift out the dust/powder in a sieve when they’re still dry.
So because I have in my refrigerator I have vegan oyster sauce I added that in and also hoisin sauce. And some hot pepper flakes I like hot heat it was good
I don't use oil and I really limit my salt intake. Personally to put that tablespoon of oil in the pan and put the soy curls in there You're not even browning them or anything you should have just used a little bouillon
I have never tried the original dish but I feel like this must be delicious :D Simple but flavourful and satisfying! I only wish I could get such awesome-shaped soy curls where I live. Honestly, the ones available here stay way to spongy :P Same when it comes to beef/chicken-like bullion. Impossible to get my hands on these! But I will probably invest one day and order some as there are so many amazing recipes of yours which would be even better if done to the T! . As always, than you for another tasty recipe idea! Hope you're staying safe and sending you all the love!
It's cheaper to make your own mock meat than buy from store, it has a meaty texture and absorb any flavours very well. High in protein but it is not a healthy ingredient though
When I click the link for the Bullion islt says vegetarian but on your page it says vegan. Which one is it? I'm not vegan but I'd like to know, thanks :)

hiii what does using the acids generously mean? does that mean i save the liquid after squeezing it then use it in the recipe?

Ty, needed this!
Just made this. It was a huge hit! Where has this recipe been my whole adult life.
Good to know! Thank you!🙏👍😀 BTW, your name is so beautiful!🌷

I love the plants in the background for the intro! The monstera plant is beautiful!
Broccoli beef used to be my go to. I would always load up on the beef. So looking forward to making this.

this looks heavenly! 😍
I just received my soy curls and I'm excited to try this recipe! Thank you for all your wonderful tips and tricks!
I love your videos sooo much! They have really been helping me transition to vegan with no mess ups!!
My dad is old fashioned, can't let go of meat...and LOVED this!! Yay Cait - this was a total win 👌😍
It is not "old fashioned" to include meat in ones diet, it is NORMAL and HEALTHY.
That sieve/bowl hack for removing extra liquid from the soy curls is freaking brilliant!!!
This looks wonderful! I’ve been going back and forth over buying soy curls, think this has tipped the scales. Thank you for sharing another inspiring recipe.
Looks very nice and easy to make.
Look's great 👍
Anything I make from you is amazing. Thank you so much !!

You're the best! Hoping you have been having some sunnier days bc you sure bring sunshine to all of ours!
great thanks for the recipe!
I love overcooked broccoli when it's all soft hahaha
Especially when there's a bit of char on it!
Same! I guess I like it soft but not fully mushy but I really don't like crunchy vegetables lol
Looks so good! I will be making this. Thank you for thinking of it!
Excellent video. Thanks.
Delicious! Looks amazing!❤️
Can’t wait to try this! I have a ton of broccoli from Costco and a bag of soy curls

It looks delish! ☺
Can’t wait to try this! I’ve never used soy curls before, anyone know if you can purchase organic ones?
I cannot wait to try this 😁💜
I recently got a 6 pack of soy curls, can't wait to try this later for dinner. :)
So because I have in my refrigerator I have vegan oyster sauce I added that in and also hoisin sauce. And some hot pepper flakes I like hot heat it was good
Looks so good it inspired me to buy your e-book 😋

Ich dachte schon, ich sei hier alleine😂.
Ihr wisst nicht zufällig, wo man diese vegane "Rinder"brühe hier herbekommen könnte? 😂
@@PeripheralPink ich werde es mit miso paste probieren 😋

Gorgeous. Great dish, too ;)
I just made this and it was delicious. I will be lighter on the soy sauce next time tho 😅 but yummyn
YUM!!!!
My soy curls from Amazon are coming in later today, I don’t have dark soy sauce is it ok to swap for regular low sodium soy sauce?? Thank you!
I’ve never had soy curls before, are they really that good?!

Looks sensational :P
Great 👍 video
could I use the dry ginger they sell in little bottles?
you look good in green
They don't sell vegan "beef" stock cubes where I live, do you have any ideas how could I imitate the ingredient?
That looks pretty good. ☺️ It does look like a Hkalo. Cute...☺️☺️👼👼
Yum!😙👌🌱🌍💚
Yummmm
Woah I'm early...uh have a good day everyone! Stay safe :)
I am so making that for a carnivore and not telling them till they finish its soy curls
Mmmmm 😍

It's vegan. They just lable it as vegetarian, but if you look at the ingredients it's vegan.
@@RogueAstro85 thanks!
🤤
girl you seem so sad! you are beautiful smart and sharing incredible content! hope 2021 treats you well. You deserve to be treated well.
I wonder if the “imitation beef broth” is gluten free?
I love mushy broccoli lol
Someone got beef with this video?
Absolutely gorgeous woman and a great cook
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
live laugh love hehe
HOLY COW, PLS OPEN YOUR OWN RESTAURANT
🐕
Tried this recipe and it was surprisingly underwhelming to me. Definitely not bad though. Just kind of plain tasting.
Isn’t “imitation beef broth” not vegan?
It is vegan. That's why it's imitation and not actual beef broth.
It looks like chicken
Soy curls are usually a chicken replacement not beef so that’s probably why.
Too much saaaaalt !!!!!!!
