    It's nice to see I'm not the only one that wants this style box. I built the same one for my old Maxima, which I no longer have. I'm most likely going to wait until summer time to build this. Sucks not having a garage...
    I love how meticulous you are. If you're going to do something, do it right, right? I would have tossed in some poly-fil into the box as well. But, I'm sure it sounds sweet just the way it is!

    • @Foxcraze
      @Foxcraze  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Patrick S I appreciate the positive feedback. I have also been tossing around the idea of adding poly fill I bought some just haven’t taken the box out to do it yet. But yeah I don’t like doing things more than once so the extra effort is worth it to me to ensure that doesn’t happen. I have plenty of stuff to come so stay tuned!

    can you tell us something about the costs an time it needed?

    • @Foxcraze
      @Foxcraze  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In all, the materials minus the tools if you already have them cost me about $120.00. I bought harbor freight tools which were about $80 dollars extra. audio equipment was separate all together and will vary based on what you plan on running. If I had not taken the time to film, edit and all that stuff I could have knocked this box out in a long weekend. For this specific one it took me about 3 weeks of working on it when time was permitted.

      At this current time, I have not been able to find any pre constructed boxes from any of the major brands that are setup for our car. Any good stereo shop in your area should be able to make you one, but expect to pay anywhere from $250-$400 for it.

    looks good man 10/10 final finish, but one question. how did you mount it to the car ?

    • @Foxcraze
      @Foxcraze  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny you ask, it’s not mounted at all. The constraints were so tight that it literally holds itself in and doesn’t move. As an extra measure I installed a wood floor that is cut and butts up against the wood bottom of the enclosure. I truly appreciate the positive responses!

      I tried to record the sound but it just didn’t pick it up well. It sounds really good in my opinion and am very happy with it these years later. My 2020 closeout video has a sound demo at the end of it and even with a tear in the surround in the sub during that video it still performed well.

    Great vid man. I have 2 questions though. Why the Rondo not regular Bondo and couldn't you completely finish the first half including the sound deadening before you built the other side? I try to limit my contortions to a bare minimum at my age.

    • @Foxcraze
      @Foxcraze  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Now to answer your questions; I used rondo over just bondo because I wanted the final layer of filler to go on smooth, self level with minimal effort (which made my sanding process much easier) and lastly provide better adhesion to the previous fiberglass and resin coats already applied. As for the sound deadener I didn’t apply it earlier on because I wasn’t sure if I would need to add any additional layers of chop mat to the inside for more strength and support once the sub was mounted. This was my first time building one of these so I def learned during this process as well.

    Sweet work. How did you secure it to the car all said and done?

    • @Foxcraze
      @Foxcraze  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bradley Milburn since its a mold its a tight fit in the pocket. The wood floor install helps press into the channel I made underneath the front of the box to hold it from sliding around.

    • @ghostrunner32
      @ghostrunner32 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could also add velcro strips to the bottom if you're still worried about it shifting. Might make it a little difficult to put in and take out if needed though.

    Hey @Foxcraze what tipe of resin did you use the epoxy resin or another kind?

    • @Foxcraze
      @Foxcraze  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My enclosure was built using all polyester based resin. You can use either or but polyester is cheaper and more used with fiberglass enclosures that I have seen. I didn’t need the extra advantages that come with epoxy resin like clarity, moisture resistance to name a few. Check with the material your using to know what resin to buy to be safe for your project.

  • @AlanGonzalez-om4rr
    @AlanGonzalez-om4rr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @Foxcraze
      @Foxcraze  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With carpeting, sanding won’t be needed quite as much cause carpet hides a lot of cosmetic flaws. Vinyl and leather on the other hand show flaws through the material so if it isn’t smooth you will see all the imperfections.

    • @Foxcraze
      @Foxcraze  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t recall the exact SQFt but I went through 2 packages of it from walmart plus what I still had in my possession before hand. Focus less on SQFt of Mat and more on the amount of layers you lay down. A good 4 layers should be strong enough to get the job done.

      I appreciate it and yeah I know..Sub functionality usually doesn’t relay well over a phone which is what this video was recorded with and is why I didn’t do one at the time. That said the box is still in the car same setup and still running well! I’m going to be doing an update video of the car at its current state and can include that then.

    Why are you putting dynamat in the speaker box???? That’s a waste.

      I read on several forums that with a fiber glass enclosure it helps at absorbing some of the rebound sound waves playing against the box back at the sub.
      It's the main reason I did it. I have also read it seems to have a cleaner deeper sound. The mat wasn’t costly so I gave it a go.
