Hysterectomy is the most common gynecologic surgery performed. About half of our procedures performed are hysterectomies. The reasons for patients needing hysterectomy are:
1. Heavy bleeding which cannot be controlled through other treatments, such as birth control pills.
2. Pelvic pain which cannot be treated through other means, such as removal of fibroids without removing the uterus.
