  • In this video, we're going to explore the topic of why people don't identify as disabled. We'll discuss the different reasons behind this, and look at ways to combat disability stigma and pride.
disability pride and disability identity are vital topics that need to be talked about more. Too often, people with disabilities are hounded and ridiculed. This video is an important step in starting to change that. By learning about disability pride and identity, we can stop apologizing we take up space with our disabled bodies. Thank you for watching!

    Thanks for making this video!
I definitely have been caught in that limbo of knowing I am disabled, knowing I need resources, being encouraged by others to do so but then having the evil capitalist in my head tell me that I'm actually just 'lazy' and attention seeking. There is definitely this idea that I have to be on the verge of an emergency in order to take pain meds or use a mobility aid. Even with disabled friends, its a struggle to call myself disabled and it is especially hard to say it around family. And living with someone who shows concern but blames me when I am unable to do certain things is very difficult for that. I know that my health issues affect my ability to do basic tasks, but being able to give myself the same patience and care that I try to give others is very hard.

I’m glad you found something good from this video. Like I said it’s a complete brain shift. It’s super hard and I’m bad at it too some days. Just know that the act of self care in those moments is radical protest for the society we live in. You’re doing a great job.
