    Spot on about why people stop watching the sport. Negative attention, inconsistent standards, confusing process, etc. CrossFit HQ operates like a teenager: they don’t ever have to explain themselves, “I’ll do better next time”, they seem to have a personal vendetta against specific people, and their attitude is extremely temperamental.

    • @ann5028
      @ann5028 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s like Sevan was saying, they don’t even say “I’ll do better” they just have this weird air of keeping everything “polished” behind closed doors like they’re physically unable to admit mistakes and don’t have to be transparent to the athletes or community

    There should be two paths to the games. The pro circuit and the amateur route. Amateur route would be the traditional season starting with the Open, Quarters, etc…. Pro circuit should be a ranking system of ongoing pro competitions; a la Triathlon, Golf, etc… Also, top 10 at the games should probably just get an automatic invite back.

    No one without a video should have a score above someone with a video. Period. CFHQ could fix this so easily.

  • @martinsteven67
    @martinsteven67 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    It's not that Paige and others were penalised. It's that others above them weren't reviewed at all and in all likelihood a large enough number would also have had major penalties, meaning Paige and some others would still have qualified

    Why not just have judges that are sanctioned by HQ and their ruling is final? Anyone that wants to move on to semis has to use one of these judges.

    Only got 18 min in and had to comment. Couldn't agree more when Rich said that should have been implemented yesterday. There is absolutely no way Paige should not be able to make Semi's. How can people who didn't submit a video have higher scores than anyone who did? Every single one of them could have cheated on every single workout, heck made up their numbers to sound better!

    Anyone remember that Froning shirt from Rouge that was just a silhouette? Maybe it was made by Reebok Crossfit. This is back in the day, like 2011 or 2012. I've looked everywhere for it and can't find it. Want it so bad! I can't even find a google image of it.

    Agree .. u don't have to video BUT a valid video with "defendable reps" is required for you to accept qualifying spot.

    I'm old. "Wayne's World" was a really good weekly skit on SNL back when SNL was still at least a bit funny. The movie version was good too. Love the podcast. Crossfit should go back to choosing the athletes for the games from in person qualifying events like they did in the past.

    Completely agree on the judges point, why don't they have a pool of judges for each region that can be trained on a separate course or something.
    Something like this happens every year and it's embarrassing when your and advocate of the sport and you want it to grow!!

    The only thing keeping me interested in crossfit is Mayhem and Pat V. Crossfit HQ just leaves me every year just wanting to just move passed CF. Thank u for Mayhem for being here.

    To the point of it being hard to stay interested in the sport I agree. Good that Dave mentioned there will be major changes next year, but isn’t that the story every year? consistency is key to be a legitimate sport.

    I think the inconsistency of penalties is a problem. Some got a % penalty while others got less reps based on how many no reps a reviewer saw. Penalizing a % is just stupid, either it's a rep or not.

  • @JPats36
    @JPats36 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Yeah how is that possible? You hire judges and the judges screw up, yet you still get in trouble. Crossfit needs to sign, train, and provide their own judges if you can afford it.

    The comment about ruck ring muscle ups is contradictory when I remember a few months ago we had a high rep of RMU with a weighted vest followed by an 800 m run in between. What is your thoughts on the similarities of equipment.

    • @richfroning5156
      @richfroning5156 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think a vest evens the weight out on the front and back v have all the weight and momentum coming from the back.

    Mayhem should do a shirt for paige, somethink like save ferris style...imagine athletes and spectator's all walking around semis and games with these shirts on...some proceeds could even go to paige ...! Dam its frustrating as a fan of crossfit as a sport.

    Cfhq is so frustrating… major games athletes are being kept from the semi finals .. they should have been given the opportunity to provide a new video, what do %% have to do with it? these are athletes livelihoods they are playing it.. at what % would they have accepted a redo of the workout.. ?

  • @andrewsten1623

    I think Angelo is wrong, not that many athletes judged by the AFJ got major penalties....however, some big name athletes like Paige and Brooke, who were judged by the AFJ did get penalized, so it makes it seem like those athletes were targeted

      Thank you for pointing this out. I appreciate that they highlighted this on their own channel, as many companies would choose not to. Regardless, its' another great example of why athletes need to be extremely diligent in researching what goes in their bodies. This would be a heartbreaking way to unintentionally break the rules and end your season(s).

  • @JPats36
    @JPats36 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    They never want to fix whats wrong. They know Paige would have made the games (not just semis), yet they always feel the need to stick strictly to kind of standards They outlined. Don't screw over someone to prove your right.

  • @leilarashid2413

    Why can’t CrossFit figure it out? I get that it is complicated but it is their job. like most or all of their focus is presumably centred on qualifying for the games and they STILL can’t get it. But we don’t have any other options so they do whatever they want and we have no choice but to suffer

    • @clydepworrel1
      @clydepworrel1 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

  • @Mr_Bob_Loblaw
    @Mr_Bob_Loblaw หลายเดือนก่อน

    What are the implications of someone like Paige finishing 50th, 150th, or 650th? They’re not making Semi’s regardless, so what other impact is there? The implications of video reviewers reviewing hundreds and hundreds of videos that aren’t relevant to making semi’s (just for the sake of putting people in proper order) is that they do a poorer job reviewing the videos that are relevant.

    • @Barkely3721
      @Barkely3721 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If the people ahead of Paige (after the penalty) are reviewed in workout 1, and they either receive a penalty or have no video, they would likely be moved below her on workout 1. Paige would then have a higher placement in workout 1 and, in turn, would have a higher overall placement for the semifinals in her region, possibly putting her back in the top 40.

  • @lukebrittain6179
    @lukebrittain6179 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If only Paige got 200th on this workout, they wouldn’t have reviewed her video at all and she would be going to simi’s.
