Thank you for being honest with people here! I recently started my journey with Amazon FBA and so far I'm still paying ;( Even though people like my product I still end up paying Amazon. The cost of PPC is CRAZY expensive. Really! Building a brand also takes a lot of time. For those who want to start FBA be prepared that you most likely spend at least twice more as you were initially planning.
Starting an Amazon business in this environment is like signing up for financial masochism. With these relentless fees and surcharges, Amazon is turning what used to be a promising opportunity into a high-stakes gamble where the house always wins. Think about it: the placement/receiving fees alone can decimate your margins before you even get started. Then there’s the low inventory surcharge, which punishes you for trying to manage your stock prudently in a volatile market. You’re constantly on the hook for more money, just for the privilege of selling on Amazon. The slight reduction in FBA fees is nothing but a smokescreen. When you factor in the increased advertising costs - which are outrageously inflated - and the brutal return policies, you’re looking at a landscape where profitability is a pipe dream. You're essentially paying Amazon to drain your bank account.
Thank you for your honesty. Videos on TH-cam make it sound like such a great opportunity, even ones posted 3 months ago. Then, they have a course to sell you and TH-cam revenue. Ah. I got it.
Great video Steve. It's very true. As an agency owner, I find that I have to be very transparent about all of this - it's changed the sales pitch, because I don't want anyone signing up for our services if I don't truly feel they can succeed.
My company has been on Amazon since 2014 with made in the USA products (our own factory with some exceptions). I would not recommend anyone start on Amazon today, FBA or not. Everyone of our products has been knocked off with cheap asian imports that are exact copies of our products. Forget patents. As soon as you bounce one off for a patent issue another pops back up. We don't even bother with filing patents anymore. And don't even get me started on Amazon PPC and the fees (up 42% from year ago). We are shifting gears to a different model and actually measure weekly the decrease in Amazons importance to our company (as a measure of sales %). It was fun while it lasted but its no longer a profitable marketplace for us and the latest inventory management issues (not too much, not too little) pretty much wss the death nail.
My guess with the low inventory fee is because sellers were habitually keeping low product to create a sense of urgency to sellers. The “low stock, X items left” message.
Great video, I have always been on the fence with this and after watching this I am no longer interested in selling in FBA. I'll stick with my other income streams and try to strengthen them instead. Thanks for being completely honest.
Finally a video on FBA that tackles the exact subject I wanted to learn about. So many other channels, add tons of fluff throughout the entire video, and nothing is learned. Thanks for this!
If you sell $18,000 of teddy bears, you need to deduct 66% for Amazon fees, then the initial costs of teddy including postage and you are lucky to be left with 25p per teddy
That alleged memory foam bath mat from temu? Is basically fuzzy cardboard that looks and feels nothing like memory foam. I bought one that is now a memory because I broke it down and immediately threw it in the trash😊
It’s crazy! I was considering amazon in the past and the fees surprised me and turned me off. Now they’ve added more fees, like wtf.. At a time where I was reconsidering amazon. Now I might just stick to a website instead. Branding and marketing is the key.
It’s pay to play then pay and pay and pay…I’m done with FBA, turo and most other side hustles…I only do eBay and back to 9 to 5…Amazon took way to much for me ti even make decent money
great video.. Amazon has been dragging me and my ONE item through the ringer. I sell only one item and every other day I get an Issue email. really been trying at best!!! thank you again. other than Amazon, where would you sell? I have an Etsy page. have a great holiday!
Amazon bright idea is to charge more to use amazon. I mean Temu and others are cutting them out and selling straight to consumers.. so charging more is a brilliant idea 🤦♂️ I don’t even sell on Amazon and this irks me.
Thank you for your succinct and complete analysis of Amazon selling. I sell on Amazon FBA and am in the process of reevaluating what resources I put towards Amazon versus my own website. Your analysis is very timely, thank you 😊
We were not successful on Amazon, the fees are too high for the amount of sells we received. I’m a manufacturer and have a 80% profit on each item. If we could have moved the product really fast, it would’ve been worth it, but the sales weren’t there.
It’s crazy! I was considering amazon in the past and the fees surprised me and turned me off. Now they’ve added more fees, like wtf.. At a time where I was reconsidering amazon. Now I might just stick to a website instead. Branding and marketing is the key.
Same I used to sell but after fee increases expensive ppc I was breaking even and long term I was gonna lose money so I decided to shutdown my business not worth it unless you’re already rich and have a lot to invest
The law of sowing and harvesting will always exist. Partnership must be good for both sides, respecting each other's resources. I want to have a product, my own brand and not authorize it to be sold on Amazon. Thinking about quality, post sales and a good healthy distribution network. Another option would be to advertise 2x more expensive on Amazon, for example.

Sellers are frustrated with the amount of abuse and fraud going on both by the customers and Amazon, that is the real issue not "respect" what are you???? a 2 year old? don't you see the level of evil, corruption, downright fraudulent behaviour amazon permits on behalf of the POS customers we have in the US. It's sad, they basically have been largely responsible for the decadent behaviour of buyers teaching them that even the typical household wife steals constantly. I have checked all my returns which are obvioulsy fraudulent in almost all cases in the US now and all that fraud comes from "middle america well to do caucasian customers, they have been systematically condition to F the small business owner... I don't have a job right now, and I've been selling on these platforms for ever, however; I do not trust them one bit and I sell items that don't have a great potential for loss. But when I try to increase the quality of items I sell on amazon, undoubtedly I get robbed. I either get scammed by other sellers holding my orders in payment processing status for ever so they can sell theirs, the customer steals the product or amazon losses it. It's just ridiculous really. FTC will break them up soon.
The apparel on Temu is not bad imo.. so I think they should will destroy amazon In Clothing. When I think of high fashion, I don’t use amazon for that. Maybe for a tshirt. So I think Temu will cost them billions.
I havent found anything i wanted that was much cheaper on temu and what i have ordered has been shit and it take 4 times as long to get here. Not worth it
I'm still not 100% clear on the low inventory charge. Because your example used 1,000 / 500 I don't know if they're charging for the units that you don't have or charge you for the unit that you do have. So, if inventory level is supposed to be 1000, and I have 600, am I going to get a fee for the 600 I have in stock or for the 400 that I'm missing?

Us sellers have to be suffer untill customers get learn other platform are not that quality as is on amazon.

Selling on Amazon marketplace is a horrible option. Too many fees. No profit left.
It is ridiculous and there's no one to speak to with selling on Amazon
I feel like im loosing more money on Amazon. I get sales but its like giving my product away. I rather push my website at this point.

My question is, after all these good points made win the video, is it worth it to do Amazon fba
I used to sell on it but they raised prices and more seller restrictions so It's not really worth it right now

What do you think about Amazon kdp. The book selling side. I am having a hard time being profitable with the high add cost.
Is it the same thing with Europe? What if we keep our products in our warehouse? If I am sure Latvia doesn’t have Amazon warehouse.
Whats can you do to move Amazon buyers to your website?
Brand and include website discount flyers with products you sell.
If you have to manage everything yourself the jump to using another warehouse or your own stock gets smaller and smaller ...
