I'm sorry if I am about to offend many black listeners but I really hate this show. I was a Tom Joyner fan for many years here in Houston. I was actually excited about Rickey taking over after his retirement. Unfortunately this show is nothing but one long ass 4 hour commercial break filled with childish jokes in between and not a drop a real informative material. I was not expecting him to be Tom but to at least be informative. Needless to say I resorted to the local hip hop station here which to my surprise usually have some really good topics. I know commercials is how stations make money but Rickey is on the air 30 seconds and gone. The whole show is rushed for the next commercial. I have driven to work on numerous occasions for 25 minutes and heard Rickey on the radio for a total of 5 to 7 minutes total and that's being generous. Maybe folks in Atlanta like this show but I cannot do it. I gave him the month of January and that was it for me.
Tom was an old school radio guy and Sybil worked as a journalist and they catered to an older audience and Tom's thing was to help the community and put news out there. Rickey is a comedian as well as Special K/Black Tony and others and Da Brat is a former rapper and Gary is a gossip queen. It just is what it is, 2 entirely different shows
