Further proof wild assault is by far and away the worst modern fighting game mechanic ever implemented. No shade to either player but ASW is legit just patching in shit that should have stayed on the cutting room floor.

But all that is to say is Wild Assault as a mechanic was a half-baked band-aid fix to characters who had trouble converting hits into substantive damage like the rest of the cast. Those characters namely being Anji, I-no, & Testament. Not Baiken though, famously she had no issues converting stray hits in s2-s3. Elph being the most recent example of "why fix a character if we can just give them RWA" Its just laughable that they will turn around a year later and rework 3+ characters in a single patch. 2 of which player-base's had no desire to get such changes. When we could have dodged the whole shit show that was season 3 balance if they had simply done what they just proved they are very much capable of that being reworking characters and addressing fundamental issues in their kits. Frankly this patch only further illustrates Wild Assault was never needed in this game.
So... Do you have issues with Roman Cancel? Not to say they're the same, but they both have a purpose of extending/starting combos by taking away the other player's turn, both using half of their full respective meters. It's just in a different form, and has been patched to be less toxic overtime. Personally, I've never minded it for that reason. It's nice that it gives the burst gauge more of a gamble, rather than just having it be a get out of a combo free card. And, it made the game more fun, at least to me personally who rarely even uses it on my characters. Nowadays, it's more of a risk to use, too, since it's so easy to knock people out of it if they make it predictable.
@@internalscreaming8835 if you’re assessment of burst is that it is a “get out of combo free card” I think we are likely playing at very different levels of play. That isn’t to disparage you or your opinion but we are only a year removed from them having to buff blue burst to fullscreen because against characters like HC/Bridget/Asuka could auto burst bait in their combo routing. And bursting very much at this point as it has been historically is a gamble, though it probably doesn’t feel that way when you have to burst at 98 seconds because your opponent just happens to score a normal(counter not required) hit on the opening rps and has red Wild assault right? Because otherwise you’re wall broken and they get that meter back and more. It’s almost like RWA exponentially increased the meter economy in a game that by the end of season 2 already had a meter economy issue (See S2.5 Chipp and Ram infinite positive looping offense). Hence why gold burst has also received changes. Roman cancel is in theory balanced by its scarcity & multi-faceted use(ibfd, air fd momentum changes, guard crush counter play, prc burst baiting, brc overheads, fd for avoiding chip-out, to name a few). Though if both players started with 100% tension the game would be pretty stupid just like it is with Wild Assault. If you want to see it with your own eyes this patch, lock in Ram, Johnny, or May press a button round start, if it hits rwa into wall break and watch how many more rounds you win if they don’t burst asap. And if they do burst congrats you just won the meter exchange and still have another one in the tank!
It is leggit stupid. I just don't like Positive Bonus and WA very much. At least RA doesn't give HKD on wallbreak anymore. It was just stupid that you got the spent burst back in like one pressure string while getting oki on wallbreak without needing to spend meter. It exacerbated all the problems of PB already removing the constraints of tension balance, which was kind of the way RC didn't get *too* stupid in former GG games imo (even then god if YRC and some FRCs can't be issues).
Like i said. 4 season will totally unbalanced trash, cringe and circus. Arcsys obviously biased and corrupt. Strive isn't competetive fg. Strive community deserve trash unbalanced game
Now Konizumi has a even better reason to justify the hate on this game lol. And everyone agrees even the top players. Thank goodness for Rivals of aether 2 a better superior game.
