      Yay, good luck to you! Painting with underglazes is easy. Just remember to clear them with a zinc-free clear glaze so they're food safe. Thanks for watching! ❤️

    Love your work Lisa. Do you know what gauge your xiem tip is? My tips are 16-18 gauge and they are too wide. Plus the black runs like the dickens. You have a very relaxed delivery style. Very much appreciate it.
    Thank you, Glynne

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much. Glad you liked the videos. I use a #20 tip for the Xiem. I thin the black underliner a little but so it flows better. If you turn the Applicator bottle upside down and it runs out or drips a lot, then it's too thin.

    Loving your video. Thank you for sharing! Did you say you are bisque firing at 04 and glaze firing at cone 5? What type if clay are you using? Thank you again!

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! I usually bisque to 04, and glaze fire to cone 5, with a 10 minute hold. I am using B-Mix 5 w/grog. Since I also love to handbuild, I buy my clay with the grog, for more stability.

    Hi there! Thanks so much for this video. Have you had success mixing these underglazes to create other colours? Like, yellow and radiant red for orange… I see some sources say it can work but it never works when I try to do it myself and that seems to be the general consensus. I’ve had success mixing colour + white to get different shades, but mixing for new colours doesn’t seem to work… I’d greatly appreciate your insight!

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello. Yes, I mix the colors all the time. You may just need to add more yellow or more red to make the orange you want, depending how pigmented the yellow and red is. Some of the underglazes have more pigment/stain than other ones. Like Intense Yellow has way more yellow pigment than just yellow. That's why it's more expensive. So I would suggest just trying to readjust the amount you're adding of each color until you get the color you want. Good luck! 😀 Thanks for watching!

    Do you put the white base coat on greenware or bisqueware?

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is white clay, so no white slip coat is needed. :-)

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wanted to add, that when I do add white slip to the dark clay I sometimes use, the slip must be added to the clay just before the leatherhard stage.

    Sometimes my clear glaze, after underglaze, doesn't coat properly. Do you have this problem?

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only on a couple of occasions, and I believe it was due to the dust from the underglaze rejecting the clear glaze. So now I do take a dry towel and just gently wipe it over the underglaze design to make sure no glaze dust is on the surface.
