    Image quality, stealth, ovf aside…the aesthetics and tactility make this the camera I want to hold more often than any other I’ve owned.

    Ive had this camera for 3 years. Rarely look at the flip-down screen. Only use it on manual setting. Love the fact that the name isn't splashed across the front.

    I have the XS10 and the flip screen is just not really for me, so I usually keep it closed and use the EVF. Not having that screen on the back really becomes natural feeling after a while. Strange how quick you get used to it.

      I agree and it seems like it's a psychologically more healthy to shoot with that screen and not review images right after you take them. I can see for portrait photographers or people who REALLY need to make sure they captured the shot perfectly for a paid job but not hobbyists like me.

    Sexiest (digital) Fujifilm camera ever made

      Completely agree and I think that's partly why they can charge so much for the X-Pro line while not having some of the features of the other cameras. Reminds me of the black Contax G2.

    For me, this is a weird choice if you're not into the optical viewfinder. It makes way more sense to get an X-E4 or something instead.

    • @vernonsza
      @vernonsza  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I can see what you mean by that. When I bought the X-Pro3, the X-E4 wasn't out. I think the hidden LCD on the back is really the standout and polarizing feature. We have so many great cameras to choose from in 2023 that you can't go wrong with many of them. But if you want something unique, the X-Pro3 is definitely that. But it also seems to be either discontinued or if you do find it, it's a LOT more expensive than when it was first released.

    • @domtomas1178
      @domtomas1178 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was thinking the same thing, I don’t use the OVF of my X-Pro2, so the X-E4 would probably be the better option. however the X-E4 is not build as well, doesn’t have a dedicated ISO dial and is not water proof. That’s why I decided to skip it.

      @@domtomas1178I have had both XE4 and XPro3. The main advantage of the XE4 is its weight and size, but the XPro3 is a lot more fun to shoot.

    would you buy the "x- pro 4"?

    • @vernonsza
      @vernonsza  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's hard to say now because I have the X-T5 and have been using it as my main camera. The in-body stabilization is really great to have when shooting at night. With the X-Pro3 I was shooting at 1/100 of a second but the X-T5 lets me shoot at 1/8 of a second. That means for static shots I can drop the ISO a lot lower or raise the aperture. I also have been using the Sigma 18-50/2.8 as my main lens which balances nicely on the X-T5 and not so much on the X-Pro3. So the X-Pro4 would REALLY have to wow me to get me to jump over to it.

      Not if you want white balance shift memory for custom film recipe presets. Then the X-Pro3 is at least a million times better then the X-Pro2 - and many other Fujifilm cameras which lack that feature.

    I love my Xpro-3 but now it's the second time the lcd screen has stopped working . First time I had hoped it would be solved but less than two years later I have to send it again for repair. This is obviously a design flaw that Fuji doesn't want to acknowledge. For me it is clearly unacceptable for such a high priced camera. I wouldn't recommend this camera only because of this problem.

    • @Mamo878
      @Mamo878 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It helps if you only flip the screen down 90 degrees, like a waist-level finder. Folding it all the way down 180 degrees will put that much more stress on the cable.
      Remember, this is throw-back style 'film'-like' sort of camera experience. If you're big into 'chimping' on a LCD screen there are better cameras for that out there.

    I've been using mine for roughly the same amount of time as you. I love it. It's a subjective thing, but I really enjoy using it in a way that I don't for most of my other cameras. I do use the ovf, with the evf at the bottom right so that I can check out my exposure as I shoot in manual mode. It's a great deal of fun and the experience is very close to how I use my film cameras. And I enjoy the results.

    • @vernonsza
      @vernonsza  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The subjectivity is often hard to convey in videos sometimes because people like to look at numbers and specs. "it doesn't have X or Y? Then it's crap". But I do think there's something to be said about the psychology of gear and how it's more (or less) likely to make you want to pick it up and shoot.
      I'm glad you like the OVF. I REALLY wanted to like the OVF but I got too spoiled by being able to see the scene before I took the shot via the EVF. You're who the camera was really made for.

      @@vernonsza honestly, I think most cameras made in the past 8 years are more than technically capable for stills, at least for my purposes. But this is a hobby and not my livelihood. I just really enjoy the experience of using the X-Pro 3, but I recognize that it's a very niche product. And I do appreciate that about Fujifilm in that they have a product line that is broad enough to cater to some niche use cases. Here's to hoping that Fujifilm continues to stay weird!

    Thanks for the video. I’ve had my X-Pro for a few years now and love it, was tempted to upgrade to the X-Pro 3, but I don’t think there is enough of a difference between them. Hopefully the X-Pro4 will come out soon. As the Zf has got my attention as well. (I don’t use the OVF or shoot JPEG. - in it for the manual dials and looks) 😁

    • @vernonsza
      @vernonsza  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know a lot of people online love the X-Pro1. They like the sensor quite a bit. I shoot raw and modify my colors so I tend to prefer more dynamic range, more high ISO performance, etc so if I can go for it, I like having the newer models.
      The Zf looks awesome and I had a friend ask me about it. I told him it looks like a great choice since he'll be able to get a full frame sensor retro camera but I think the 1 downside might be that the lenses are going to be bigger than APS-C.

    • @domtomas1178
      @domtomas1178 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@vernonsza I tend to look at APSC and FF lenses in comparison to their background separation. So for me a Fuji f2 would be a Sony or Nikon f2.8 and a Fuji f1.4 would only need to be a Sony f1.8 to give me the same background blur. Which makes the lenses similar in size and weight actually.

    • @vernonsza
      @vernonsza  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@domtomas1178 One thing that I've been experimenting with lately is Lightroom's Lens Blur tool. I think it does a REALLY great job at creating a convincing background blur/bokeh effect. Especially if used moderately. It defaults to 50 but I set it to 15. It's still in an alpha stage right now (you can't even add it to a preset) but eventually it will get so good that you'll be able to fake the kind of bokeh you see with Nikon's 135/1.8 Plena lens. Which means that you'll be able to walk around with a compact budget 2.8 lens and get VERY convincing 1.2 looking blur.

    Xpro3 has been my favorite camera I’ve ever used. It makes the act of taking images so enjoyable. HOWEVER, I’ve had two and the rear screen died on both. So unfortunately I had to sell it. I loved the rear screen but it’s just too unreliable.

    I bought my (silver dura) one 5 months ago (Used) from a reputable camera store and I am very pleased with it.
    I never fold the screen down when using it (purely because I need reading glasses so the EVF is easier (with diopter adjustment). When I found out about the ribbon issue I registered the camera with Fujifilm as that’s a requirement if you need to send it for repair! My screens work fine ATM and hopefully the ribbon will last as I don’t open the rear screen at all now.
    Mine did suffer with the ‘other’ problem; the sticky mushy shutter release (will it fire once, twice or not at all??) but I actually managed to fix that myself (scienced the shit out of it) and it’s good as new now!

    • @vernonsza

      @@vernonsza First I tried Switch Cleaner Spray (that every Ricoh GR user needs a can of!!)
      But the button just stopped moving completely 🤦‍♂️
      Hmm some dry lubricant is needed here . . . .
      Small amounts of graphite powder brushed around the shutter release whilst I wiggled the button around (courtesy of the red screw in button which allowed me to push n pull) and 5 minutes later all was well and it has been working perfectly ever since.
