An interesting turn of events. Lois losing her memories was an unforeseen side effect of her somewhat reckless decision to use the black mercy device to get to Clark. What's even more intriguing is that these simulated versions of Jor-El and Lara are aware of who Lois is. It somewhat makes sense for them to want to keep Lois away from Kal-El so that they can get rid of her. It just shows that they aren't even mind scans of Jor-El and Lara. Still, Kal-El meets up with Lois, so there's hope.
These aren't the real versions of Jor-El or Lara, they are constructs made by the Black Mercy to keep Clark within the illusion. They know about Lois and everything else about Clark's life from his memories.

Well being inside of Clark's mind is a dangerous thing with Brainiac in control of the body

We all know that it isn't really them, the real ones that we all know are not like this at all. This is Brainiac that is doing everything he can to stay in control.
Because it’s not them. It’s basically the a visual representation of the “program” trying to keep Clark docile.

I think I see what'll happen in this and the next episode. Neither of them can remember anything in there, but after reuniting, their memories will slowly come back to them, with Brainiac's corruption over Clark's memories being undone by Lois remembering what really happened, and this whole thing will bring the two of them back together as Clark is freed from Brainiac, who will DEFINITELY transfer his consciousness to Waller's robots on Earth, leading to Clark and Kara saving the day and ruining Waller's plans.

Well, Episode 9 is actually the 2nd to last episode, as far as I know. So it's "in this and the next episode". But you have a pretty good theory on where it will go. It ties up the Waller plot (this season) nicely and resolves the Brainiac plot (for now).
Lois Lane will save Kal-El from The Black Mercy!
It must be one of those long episodes exploring Clark's psychology and backstory in Krypton until Lois breaks him out of it and season finale is the final battle with Brainiac.
They must be leaving Lex and his army of Metallos as the big threat for Season 3.
Given that Hank Henshaw has been featured in three of Season 2's episodes so far, I think we're going to get Cyborg Superman as a major villain in Season 3...
This series should be called my teenage adventures with Superman... I see why the kids today have more mental issues.
Talk about a uno reverse situation, in season 1 Clark was captured and interrogated but Lois’s father and now it’s Lois who’s been captured and being interrogated but Kal-El’s/Clark’s father
Well Lois put herself in that situation to be honest, Clark didn't have a choice when he got captured.
Those are definitely just copies of Brainiac using the forms of Superman's Kryptonian parents
Given that they speak to each other, I'm not sure it's just Brainiac, per say, even if it were multiple copies/forks. I'm thinking that it may be the Black Mercy so than just Brainiac. It's meant to be a prison, so it might be that the people in the simulation are programmed to also act as jailers, aware of the simulated nature, but still being programmed to play the part of the character. So it's not just Brainiac going through the motions, but it's AIs that are created with a dual purpose as both carrot and stick- a nice thing to lure out info and quell resistance, but also actively subversive, acting against the interests of the detainee.

I’ve noticed that nearly every Kryptonian wears an outfit with a uniformed white and grey aesthetic (The only two exceptions being Clark’s Superman suit and Kara’s “Braniac” suit). That only begs the question: What is the exact purpose or occasion for the “Red and Blue” Kryptonian suit (The one we all recognize as “The Superman Suit”) in MAWS’s continuity? What rank or significance does it hold in MAWS’s Kryptonian culture? I know in the behind-the-scenes for “Man of Steel (2013)”, Superman’s suit is supposedly meant to be a Kryptonian ambassador uniform… I say “supposedly” because it’s never directly explained or elaborated on in the final film.
Is the original purpose of MAWS’s Superman suit meant to fill that same niche on Krypton or does it represent a completely different purpose altogether?

They already failed at keeping Superman occupied.
Clark’s super hearing is adjusted so that he tunes most sounds out except for important ones (otherwise he’ll go nuts from sound overload) he has no memory of his life on earth but his super hearing is still attuned so that he can pick up on Lois in distress wherever she is.
Love this. We’ve even seen this EXACT thing before, in the SAME narrative place as last season. Good call

This show is pretty amazing. To be able to take superman in a new direction and still have it be relevant and work. That is something. And of course mixing it with anime doesn't hurt either.

Nah, she's in the simulation that Clark was put in, she tried to get him out but clearly since it's not supposed to have multiple minds in it at once, whilst it has seemingly altered Clarks memories into thinking his family is still alive and Krypton is not destroyed, it had seemingly made Lois lose her memories
Simulation time must be fast because i was still expecting clark to be his kidself like last time 😅
in the comic that feature the Black Mercy, Superman experienced a entire lifetime in what was actually just a short few hours
Excellent intro to this episode. I hope that Kal and Lois can finally talk things out and return to help Kara and Jimmy stop Brainiac's fourth attempt to invade earth. This show really knows how to start off with a bang with each new episode as the show progresses. These past two seasons have been filled with so much context, that we humans deal with every day: doubt, truth, belonging, relationships, etc. I'am on edge to see how the season finale next weekend will go, and how the show will prepare all of us, the viewers and supporters, for season 3. This is an awesome version of such an amazing character who was created to help raise spirits during the great depression.

On the surface, this show is a typically bright and hopeful like most superman media.
Underneath, however, it embraces the grim, hopeless feeling that makes for many of DC's most intriguing stories.
Like we really have isolation with clark really having no clue about his own culture being so bad to the point where he doesn't even know his own native language(which reminds me of a certain ww2 book towards the end where a girl finally reunited with her grandmother but couldn't speak her native tounge),we got the government kidnapping people and then forcing them to fight an alien or worse getting experimented on "for the greater good", xenophobia/racism with lex and a certain astronaut and the cherry ontop of all that with brainac being a master manipulator which also steals people's souls and shoves them into robotic shells so they can never die as a hobby

Wait , "the black mercy"? I heard of that before. It was in Justice League Unlimited, mongul used it on superman to trap him in a fantasy that he couldn't escape without letting go.

Yes, it's a plant/life form, that when attached to individuals, forces them to think about their best fantasies. Usually, one who is in the fantasy must force themselves out of that fantasy by recognizing the truth and seeking to go back to the reality. The same was used in a Supergirl episode.
yeah the show has a lot of neat call backs to the comics and previous series. It's all stuff that has been seen before in one format or another, just with a new twist.
Respecting the LLLOOORE and using it in new interesting ways. I'll watch this one after I'm done with the animated series.

This means that Lois just being here is already straining the simulation.
I remember the JL Unlimited episode "For the Man Who Has Everything". Love how , unlike Mongul, Brainiac was wise enough to put Matrix-style programs in charge of keeping the simulation running smoothly and preventing Superman from realizing the truth.
They also did this on Supergirl Season 1, and Alex had to go in and save Kara.

As if all the other atrocities weren't enough, Brainiac also decided to create a reality were Superman's birth parents are evil conquerors even though Jor-El hated what the Empire was. Way to spite their memories.
Well he's not entirely wrong because they were conquerors at one point which then moved on to being peaceful but brainac only focuses on that specific point in time because of his directives and seeing thier change as "weak" and "infectious"

something tells me that the quality for My adventures with superman will greatly plummet by the 3rd season.
If Clark recovers his memories even within this simulation, he will have to make a difficult decision: choose between his Kryptonian parents or Lois Lane.
For a second I thought it would be like that iconic episode from Superman The Animated Series, where he’s in a simulation of krypton where it didn’t blow up and those AI were sentient not knowing they were in a fake world and it was real to them and Superman had to blow up the fake world and his son to return.
Who else thought of that episode when they first saw this situation in My Adventures with Superman?

Few flashes. but when the flashes get clearer, Lois will remember and will try to help Clark to be free from Brainiac's control assuming they are still in space and not on Earth. Fixing a relationship is one thing, but his reputation after attacking on Earth that could take lots of time and even new hope as long Waller and Lex aren't too sore after the BrainSuperman attack on them and took over the weapons and possibly killed all the agents they had

It's officially clear: I hate the Black Mercy and Brainiac, manipulating Clark's memory is one thing, taking over his body is another thing. Wiping Luz (Lois) of her memories and calling her a glitch is a colossal amount of treason as much as gaslighting and brainwashing poor Kara into committing mass extinction on numerous civilizations.
