Nicola gets more stunning as each episode airs…I love that they didn’t hold back in their love scene. It was beautiful. As amazing as the mirror scene was I think Colin standing up to her Mom was sexy AF!
TRUST once my brain cells finally rebooted after that mirror scene finished, one of my first thoughts was "oh my god, i need to see Victor react to this." Thank you and bless your heart for the swiftness!!
That was my reaction during the mirror scene because it felt so real like I felt as if I shouldn’t have been watching 😂

I’ve seen some people making comments online that they didn’t like the s*x scene here. I absolutely loved it for all of the things you said here. They are both gorgeous, there was consent given, he guided her through the process, and the music choice was perfect. It was 🔥
It felt SO intimate, that might be why it made some people uncomfortable. It was beautifully shot and N&L were amazing, but it did almost feel voyeuristic to watch it. D&S and A&K’s first times were also “experienced man/inexperienced woman” dynamics, but were very much shot like classic romance film love scenes, while this scene felt didn’t feel fictional or stylized, but truly felt like two longtime friends crossing that line.
Yes I thought it was so sweet and tender and hot, all at the same time ❤
@@MeredithHagan its very interesting that you said it did almost feel voyeuristic because I think that just adds to it feeling like we're watching a real couple! this is such a testament to how good of actors Luke & Nic are! And I've seen lots of guys react to this scene and without fail, the straight ones always point at the screen and grin when Colin says he needs 5-10 mins. So even MEN are basically acknowledging the realism lol
I loved the book but I have to admit the show did a beautiful job with the Polin love scene. It was sincere, full of emotion and not gratuitous. Nicola and Luke are lovely actors and did such a splendid job portraying these characters. They did deliver for all the book fans ❤.

One thing about this episode that disappointed me. I didn’t like how he announced the engagement walking away from Pen. I would have liked them to be standing together. I think it would have been more impactful. But I did LOVE the episode overall.

I think it took me 30 minutes to get past 20 minutes of episode 5. I was too overwhelmed. Whew. I kept rewinding to the part when Colin stood up for Penelope and then I didn't think I could get past Colin undressing Penelope. I didn't think I could take it y'all. These back to back Polin scenes was a lot and much anticipated.

Ok hubby & I FINALLY binged part 2 and i RAN over here!! These 48 hrs waiting to see your reactions start was HEAVY! And damnit you DELIVERED! lol
About the sex scene: Was it arguably more underwhelming than Saphne & Kanthony's first time? Sure. HOWEVER, I think Polin's dynamic as a couple is different to theirs. Since they've been childhood friends, I could imagine it being more practical like "Ok so we're doing this now...what am I supposed to do? What's gonna happen, etc." Also, while Simon & Anthony were very chivalrous, Colin is not this older, super suave guy (despite trying to be). He's more protective and careful with her. As for comparing to the carriage: It was probably easier to be straight-up sexy because they weren't as exposed to each other & the mechanics are not as complicated vs full sex. I honestly thought their scene was the most *realistic* out of everyones with the awkwardness & but also the sweetness. We can debate whether we want realism in a show like this, but this scene was incredibly intimate in that respect.

i agree w/ everything u said EXCEPT abt their mirror/sex scene being 'underwhelming' in comparison to the other couples. Unless u mean that other ppl find it underwhelming? I rewatched Kanthonys 1st time multiple times b/c it was hot. I wud actually compare their 1st time to Polin's carriage scene. The reason being that Polin's mirror scene STANDS ALONE. I kept rewinding each part over & over. It was beautiful, sweet, romantic, did away w/ insecurites, & had consent. It was truly dynamic & had a huge level of realism (like u said) that is not shown in many sex scenes. I literally cant think of 1 that compares to it. Perfection.
@@AceVenturaaa i agree with you entirely and the more times I saw it (for educational purposes of course...lol) the more details I caught that I believe made it so good for Polin. In my first sentence, I answered that question as "sure" in the sense that I can see why some ppl would find it underwhelming but its just one of those situations similar to me absolutely loving a movie, defending it with my entire chest & thesis paper, but understanding that for others, it could just be a vibe thing.
This scene & the carriage one both fit Polin's story/characters well but coming off the carriage into this one, it definitely feels different. But like you said, because it stands alone :)
Watching your reaction to the Portia bitch off and the mirror sex scene was like reliving my first experience watching those scenes. I love your reactions so much. You getting sweaty and fanning yourself. You needing to take a break to recover. Yep, felt all of that. Can I just say how much I appreciate the fact that writing for that scene was so well done that people across all demographics and sexual orientations were affected? It was such a beautiful scene.

This ep also left me exhausted and anxious. I've seen it three times now and only managed to watch the 🪞 scene during my most recent rewatch. Phew. It was a lot. Too much stress on poor Pen during this episode for my taste, but luckily, the anxiety lessens with each time seeing it.
