I think Miles being sent to universe 42 was a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment. I didn’t notice it the first time, and on second viewing, I did but it was really quick. And I think Ryan didn’t notice that 2099’s universe was actually very dystopian. The surface level is like the Jetsons but underneath looks like Blade Runner. Also 2099 is antagonist to Miles, but he’s not a “villain.” If anything, he’s an antihero. He’s trying to stop universes from collapsing
Dystopia? In what Capacity. Nothin' looked Dystopian, only High Tech & Futuristic. I watched it Twice, so please put Me up on Game with whatever you're talking about or Miss Me with that Bull Crap.
@@fishertheadore6095 This may be a reach, but it shows signs that there is a tiered hierarchy to the world's social structure, and as Miles keeps breaking down each level, the locations get grittier and grittier. We got from a big shining city to a dark underground filled with traffic, pollution, and industrial sprawl. But that's just IMO.
I'd actually argue that Miles is the antihero while 2099 is the actual hero. Granted we don't know if 2099 Spider-Man is actually protecting the multiverse or if it's just theory.
The fact that they believe Mile's and Gwen's familial bonds are ignored or overshadowed during the Spider Society sequence is baffling to me when it's the impetus for the central conflict between Miles and Miguel and ultimately the reason why Gwen decides to help Miles. We know how important Miles' parents are to him, and I think it was a very deliberate choice that the movie made when it didn't physically show or cut back to them during the lead up to, and during the spider chase sequence. Their absence helps to push Miles' isolation and reinforces the emotion of Rio's speech to Miles about looking after the "little boy" for her. It really feels like the criticisms delivered here boil down to the movie not lining up with expectations.
100%! Time and time again these “experts” criticize movies over they not lining up with their expectations instead of for what the artists creating it bring to the table.
They should go back and watch Trailer #1 for this movie. (The one with Rio's narration) It is a PERFECT distillation of the central conflict and probably one of my favorite trailers ever now, seeing it again after the movie.
Miles makes me love being black and speaking Spanish so much !Hes such good representation for black and Latino people. His Jordan’s , where’s he’s from, his family , everything. I got chills from every part of the movie. And the end when he met himself ( with a Puerto Rican accent jaja) it was so fire. Love him so much ! Best multiverse movie and I love Wanda lol.
I kept thinking to myself - bruh miles' design is on point 💯 his outfits and flow were so New York and Miles 42 having an accent looking like a bachatero with them braids was on point too 🤣
Honestly that was my favorite part of the movie - seeing Miles seamlessly flow between both aspects of his ethnic background. Rio's snapping her fingers at him in the counselor's office when she learned that he "only" got a B in Spanish, had me howling! Especially with the little Puerto Rican flag that appeared above her fingers as she snapped!
If the third movie sticks the landing, I'll be comfortable calling it the best superhero trilogy ever. Up there with the Nolan Batman and Raimi movies (my favorites).
If the 3rd movie is just as good as the last 2, it WILL be the best super hero trilogy of all time. The dark knight rises wasn’t that great. Spider-man 3 sucked, despite what everyone online says now. It’s only because of the bully maguire memes
This movie was 65% - 75% Setup, but it still managed to handle multiverse better than all of the MCU, and only in 2 hours and 30 minutes, I’m serious, if they manage to seal the deal with Beyond the Spiderverse we are looking at the best superhero Trilogy of All Time.
@@shaanpatel9474 it's hard to compare live action and animation and be fair but in scale if this 3rd movie is anywhere near as good as the first 2 it launches to that best superhero trilogy conversation in record time
This may be the greatest superhero film ever made. The banter is unmatched, the story is engaging in so many ways, and the attention to detail and artistic style just blows me away! 10/10 movie!
I feel that this movie is a breath of fresh air and much needed. Considering all the abuse Peter Parker has went through, especially with what writers have done to him now. For a character like Miles, who can break canon and find a better outcome. I just find it exceedingly hopeful. Spiderman just lost MJ again, and it's pretty ridiculous how much trauma he gets. There is a reason I love the character of May Parker, she is a triumph.
I love that they are touching on the trauma=growth trope. While it makes for great drama, it's pretty f'd up and long overdue for critique in the mainstream. I hope the genre continues to move in this direction.
@@jahleel0077 Agreed. It's a little bit too much now. I think this is why I like little May Parker so much, she's a miracle baby. MJ is now lost to Peter as she has children with some other guy.
I think the biggest up over the current MCU I can give Across the Spider-Verse is that it doesn't have the tonal whiplash that the MCU has developed. It has humor, with plenty of fun & quippy scenes. And it has serious scenes, and they don't really cross pollinate like the MCU has developed such a bad habit of recently.
That was my biggest complaint about GOTG3, they'd have a whacky slapstick scene and cut directly into a heart wrenching scene of animal abuse. Or they'd be in the middle of goofy bickering and then one of them yells, "Enough! We have to save our best friend from dying!" My neck is still sore from the whiplash.
the jokes are actually funny too. it's not just "strange things happen & normal bystanders react in awe" or "hero performing important heroic tasks but some mundane thing stops the action"
@@apoorvsingh4459 I disagree. None of the Thor 4 characters really took anything that seriously, even Jane's cancer and the god butchering felt like minor inconveniences. Whereas in GOTG3 everyone took Rockets situation *very* seriously... until they didn't and decided it was jokey jokey fun time. Not that the jokes weren't funny. But going from one tone to the other feels way more jarring when the movie actually treats the serious stuff seriously.
I think critics can’t help but feel like they always have to say something negative, that’s proven when you say “it’s too long, but they cut out all the fat so I don’t know what else they could’ve cut. But yea it’s too long” 🤨🤨
It's called being honest. I felt the film was too long and there were moments where it dragged. But after only one viewing its hard to pinpoint what exactly I would have cut. You have to be very careful removing scenes from a film, because you risk leaving needed info on the floor.
i knew mentally that the movie is long, but it never actually felt like a drag. every scene was amazing and fit the narrative. if they cut anything, a sizeable chunk of the plot gets cut, it's simply a pretty massive story that required a lot of working parts to make just the first half. if you can sit thru 3 hours of titanic or avatar or lord of the rings, i think 2.5h of this is pretty acceptable. if anything, it's just more bang for your cinema ticket buck.
This movie was so good these "experts" are literally grasping at straws trying to find something negative about this movie in order to create content for their respective channels
As someone that likes this channel but hates anytime these “experts” come on, I am so happy to see mostly if not all comments of people not agreeing with their criticism. I am happy fans and hopefully real experts do like this beautiful movie.
The story actually is complete from Gwen’s perspective. She is in a different place with herself/her family at the end of the movie compared to the start.
It’s was soo good I didnt even notice it was long lol I also loved the fact they had Donald Glover in it as a human.. get me excited for the future of the MCU!

@@damnthishandleistaken cool, this is where they thought it was better than the original for the first time. This is their opinion, you didn’t have to make that list.
So far, the two Spiderverse films have handled the multiverse better than any movie I've seen since Everything Everywhere All at Once, and that was a self-contained movie. This trilogy could go down as the greatest superhero trilogy ever. I think it's on par or better than Nolan's Batman films, Ryan Coogler's Black Panther, & Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy films. Excellent stuff and I'm not really a Spidey fan.
I don't understand the praise Nolan's Batman gets. The action is mid, the sound mixing is egregious, Bruce Wayne isn't very faithful to the source material, and the cinematography is boring. The acting is great, but I just don't think it's anything magical. For so many years, I was bummed about not having a definitive cinematic Batman, until Matt Reeve's masterpiece
With all due respect it looked like Matt and Colton were looking hard for faults in a movie that doesn't have thing to criticize unless you go and pick stuff just because it doesn't match your personal expectations. It is one of the best Superhero movies to date period and it is the first part of a two part story, so you should take it for what it is and like Empire Strikes Back it's sustained by the success and innovation of the first one, lays the ground for the closing act and yes is way better than anything the MCU has released since Endgame.
Yeah for real. All of them were like “it’s long, but I don’t know what could be cut out.” They don’t know what to cut out because the movie was so tightly packed. And about it being a two parter, I know damn well they wouldn’t be this critical about the LOTR movies. The LOTR movies are great but but they really don’t end satisfyingly either. You gotta watch all three!!!
I got about halfway through this video and stopped. They're just struggling to find bad things to say for the sake of criticism (and probably views) and not because there was anything legitimately wrong with the film. This is why the gap between audiences and critics is widening even further these days.
@@voicedbird I just did the same thing. he was stuttering around just looking for a criticism. doesn’t even seem like he had any critique planned or thought out.
It was really hard for them to find any critiques for this film, yet instead of just saying it was a flawless movie, which I believe it is, they nitpicked. It was a shame. I legitimately believe this is the best Marvel film since Infinity War or Endgame. When it was finally over, it felt like I hadn't been breathing the entire time. It's been so long since a movie has made me feel like that, I almost wanted to cry. Can it be March 2024 already?
@@Treck533I'm so annoyed they got rid of Scott Derrickson. He truly loves Strange & horror & I think his MoM would have been much more unique. He has so much talent, it's very frustrating seeing it being used so tritely.
I said it as soon as I finished watching the movie. Spider man is in great hands with Sony, never sell it. They made another great Spider Man movie. Animated or not, they have the recipe.
Yeah, but they do really need some help fleshing the Spiderman villains in their life action films, Maybe hire the guys at Insomniac to write the scripts?
So interesting inversion in this movie from the first one. Peter B tells Miles to focus on saving individuals, not the big picture, and in this movie, he's being pressured to do the reverse.
This was the beat multiverse movie so far outside of Everything Everywhere. Idk wtf yall are complaining ab that its half a plot, no shit, its gonna be a trilogy. Star wars did that with Empire Strikes Back, Avengers Infinity War did it… they dont wrap everything up but they do wrap up what they can and leave the rest for the next one. I honestly loved it, i dont get the complaints.
It must suck to have to work so hard to find something negative about a masterpiece just to sound respectable. I understand opinions are subjective but it’s clear how hard they are tying to find something bad to criticize.
The movie is not that long, i don’t know why that continues to be sad, it was only two hours, we’re used to that and longer movies with the MCU. And again, there’s a part two, which means there’s much more to this story, you cannot fit all of it into a. 2 hr film, it doesn’t make sense. It’s not as much of a feel good movie ITSV was, but because of its cinematography, the execution of introducing the other main characters and their impact on this storyline, also what miles’s “spiderman” journey is, it makes it was better than the first. Plus, it was able to capture so many emotions which is phenomenal writing for an animated film
Everyone at the Citadel of Spider-Men was rendered in their own style iirc, so Glover being in live action makes sense based on that alone. What if the animated universes are pulled into a live action universe similar to how the Ultimate universe was partially absorbed into the 616 in the comics.
since when did two hours and twenty minutes become a super long superhero movie, i’m not even a spiderman fan like that but this movie absolutely blew me away both times i watched it. i liked the first one, i understood the hype, it didn’t hit me like it hit everyone else. this movie was genuinely one of the best movie experiences of my life both times i’ve seen it, so much better than the first one imo. all this to say even tho everyone is entitled to their opinion, i don’t understand the criticisms honestly. also totally unrelated i want to see more roger rabbit stuff i want to see them go all in in secret wars.
I just realized that Pavithr Prabhakar didnt have the line "Got bit by a radioactive spider " like other spidermen since according to the comics he got his powers from a spider god.
marvel needs a story team. like a visual story team thats making sure the character of each character actually shines in each scene rather than get washed away. Animated movies are so much better with character because there's a whole team of people making sure everything ties in, and with the amount of cg and other complications, i think marvel needs an animation style story artist team for each film
I feel like they did a good job of making the multiversal travel stuff relate back to Miles and his story, especially by the time they make it to Earth-42. The stakes feel bigger because of that
As a lord of the rings fan, I feel like the movie should've been longer actually to flesh out some parts and let us breathe during some scenes as it feels very fast paced. I'm aware that most people can't keep watching a movie for 3 hours in a row so I understand people thinking that the movie is long. Honestly an intermission like how they do it in theater would've been kinda great haha...
100% agreed. I really want intermission to make a come back. I love just entering a world for 3 hours and enjoying and feeling the drama and uniqueness of their world. Wish more directors and producers were okay w longer films
@@animo358 yeah but I meant for the first part, to flesh it out more and maybe make it up to 2h30 or 2h45. I feel like the second half went by too fast
@@khatymiss707 honestly my only opinion is kinda the popular one. They were really struggling to pick where to put the cliffhanger. Like they could a put it when he figured out he was in the wrong dimension, when the new band went through the portal, when Prowler attacked him, and where they actually did. That was the only part that felt super dragged out
It never felt long! The pacing was amazing. When he arrives in Earth-42, I was like: oh I guess it’s only been like an hour, there’s probably a lot more movie still. I wanted another hour at least. These “experts” are grasping to make content. This movie was great and could have been longer, and I would have not realized it.
the whole personal battle miles was going through and the connection with his mom and dad all made me connect and resonate so much in the theaters this movie was perfect
This movie for me, is just perfect, amazing, everythinggggg. The music, the visuals, everything about it i know im saying the same thing a ton but theirs just no words for a project like this.
If Beyond the Spider-Verse manage to keep up with Across the Spider-Verse, if not to do better, this will end up as the best superhero trilogy ever... even if not one of the best trilogies ever, not just superhero ones.
Animation is the perfect medium for multiverse. It is a marriage of form and function. Loki and Dr Strange showed variants of characters, but the look/feel of the separate worlds were not unique enough to heighten the experience. The different animation styles give the viewer an immediate visual anchor and emotional signpost.
I liked the meta aspect of 'do the thing' , meaning do the explanation that needs to happen to every movie, but that explanation includes the fact that certain events have to happen in every story!
25:51 in Across the Spider-verse movie, Miguel explains how because of miles, as he is an anomaly, bunch of portals are opening, that's why Renaissance vulture came to Gwen's universe similarly, mcu vulture came in Morbius universe
I liked the part when the teacher tried to make miles’s backstory out to be tragic and impoverished as a meta commentary on how everyone these days one ups each other on how difficult their life has been and how there isn’t a place for a guy who hasn’t necessarily had it easy but still has both parents and hasn’t experienced huge issues
Despite the fact that I’ve been wanting to rewatch ITSV because it’s one of my favorite movies (finally bought the dvd the other day) I was starting to get a little burnt out on multiversal themes like Colton but after watching ATSV that sentiment flew out the window 😂. I am inspired to go back to the comic book store to start looking for great comic stories in general thanks to this film.
I think it's easier to have a central focus on one character and all versions of that character vs mcu. They're trying to bring everyone together and shoe horn them in. Trying to collaborate everyone and every version of them together is much more difficult to do than centralizing on one character and more or less making their story branch out.
Hey, Ryan! I love your channel. Your voice is always thoughtful and inclusive. So, for the love of Stan, PLEASE get some other co-contributors, besides these crusty, yt fanbois. Guys like these are why I order my comics online.
@@ExitStrategy1609 the live-action MCU films are the perfect example of how to handle comic book stories with real people. Thus far, the Sony animated Spiderman films are the perfect example of how to handle comic book stories with the unlimited range of freedom that computer animation provides.
Well, Everything Everywhere All At Once managed way better the multiverse concept than Doctor Strange 2 did. It should have been called "Doctor Strange: A peak into the Multiverse" rather than "Multiverse of Madness"
I think the image of a dystopia has just changed. When they went under it looked like a cyberpunk under-city slum situation to me, my impression of the world was a shiny outside with a rotten corrupt core. Very tomorrowland. A utopia is just a dystopia in disguise, and I definitely assumed his world was a dystopia. I mean, look how empty it was! Also I adored the pacing, I think it being two parts really gave us the room to take the time and have those scenes that people would be begging to have gotten if they were revealed as deleted scenes. The movie, like spiderman, is itself trying to have its cake and eat it too. Also, I didn't catch which world Miles was from so I missed that he was in the wrong dimension so that build up was a genuine twist for me. I think its a fun and devastating scene. The back and forth of Gwen approaching his window like she's listening but not actually being there was so good.
I have a theory. I got a feeling Miles Morales of Earth 42 is the hero and he’s fighting against the sinister six. He was supposed to get bit by the spider, but he never did, so because of his intelligence he relies on tech to fight crime. I think he’s going to ask 1610 Miles to help him with the Sinister Six and then help him get back home and also give him a gadget to stop The Spot In the mean time the spider Gwen horde is going to stop The Spot. (Gotta put some respect on his name). Just a theory
I think since spots powers are basically the multiverse, he'll probably be the one who actually brings back sinister six from alternate universes so we have the cameo and Gwen's team fighting against sinister six and him at the end. Spot seems to be taking his time because I thought he would be already creating havoc since Miles took time to fight all the spider people so he's probably gathering the villain team from alternate universes.
Having seen both Flash and Spiderman movies, I feel confused when the one guy said that Flash felt more like a "Spiderman" movie. Flash seemed like the norman summertime "blockbuster" that the production companies have to throw out there every year to justify all the money the advertisers spend to get in said movie. But Spiderman: Across the Spider-verse seemed like the movie with more heart and dedication to the source material. It dealt with a lot of heavy subjects as Miles and Gwen both struggle with their parental relationships. Yes, it did throw a lot at you with all the variants of spider people but they did such a good job of keeping the main story focused on how hard it is for Miles to find his place in all this chaos. And while it may not have an ending it definitely got the audience more invested in it's characters than Flash where most people just viewed the movie to see Batman.
You keep saying that you hate that 2099 isn’t in this dystopian place he is usually from. Isn’t he living in the universe that isn’t his own since the one from that universe died? Isn’t that why he’s injecting himself and also wearing the bracelet? He isn’t from the place he currently is. Additionally, the screen showing earth 42 was a blink and you missed it moment as others have said. For more casual people like myself I didn’t pay attention so the build up was great for the final reveal.
Across The Spider Verse is Quen's Movie.... The Same way Infiniti War was Thanos's Movie... She had a total and complete arch that was ongoing through the entire movie... Everything about Canon events and Spider men losing a "Captain"Stacy aka her Dad affected her.... & her having No Band/Friends... it was a twist/story being told that I Didn't realize was being told until the very End when the Drums hit... and that realization hit hard and Made me Love this movie sooooo much more.... Great Story Telling.
Why is Miguel worried about Miles saving his father? In a normal timeline, Miles will be fighting the Spot (which would be a part of the attempt to save his father anyways,) and then fail to save his father. All Miguel would needs to do to enforce the timeline is prevent Miles from receiving outside help. If the concern is that Miles could force the loop hole of his father quitting like Gwen did using outside knowledge, wouldn’t Gewn’s universe disintegrate if this was a dangerous action? (Great movie by the way, I loved it so much!)
Right, that's what I've been wondering too. I think Miguel's story would be explained more in the next movie to really understand the consequences of breaking/avoiding a canon event. His reasons for accepting canon events are not explained in this movie too well.
feels weird that critics of this movie continue to harp on the fact that it’s a two-parter… it’s become clear to me that not everyone knew beyond the spiderverse was gonna be a thing, but cmon people. once you saw the end credit reference, you should’ve been satisfied. were y’all saying this stuff when the penultimate harry potter movie came out? or hunger games? or infinity war? LOL. it’s an unfinished story but not an incomplete movie. it had EVERYTHING and there’s still more to tell. we all don’t have to agree about it being the “best superhero/multiverse film of all time,” but can we eliminate any discourse about the fact that the story wasn’t resolved yet? IT WILL BE. also want to acknowledge that this movie will inevitably resonate with some people more than others based on personal connections to miles’ identity as opposed to a connection some folks have generally with spiderman. for me, there was an entire level of depth beyond what these SC guys were taking about and that’s OK. it can do more for some than for others. but give me a break with the incomplete story bit
spiderman was the first time i even saw/heard of the concept of dimensional travel and other realities. i saw it in the 90s spiderman cartoon with madam web and the beyonder. so for spiderman to be one of the only superheroes to meet themselves in other realities that actually has deeper impact and meaning to all other superheroes not just his own timeline.
It’s funny how Sony started the trend of superhero movies with the Raimi trilogy, and then started the multiverse trend with ITSV, and in both cases the original movies are better than anything that came after imo.
These guys complained about the length (a lot) yet Guardians 3 was longer...and felt a lot longer than that. I think they couldn't relate to the characters and core issues so that made it hard for them to be engaged for the duration.
Great comments and points from Ryan. It is when the guests start complaining about how long and incomplete (a part one of two stories) the movie is you lost me.
Across The Spider-Verse is one of my favorite MARVEL films EVER -- it's better than Into The Spider-Verse, which is also a MASTERPIECE. God bless this movie.
The movie was fantastic, but I pump the brakes and pull the e-brake on comparing animation with relatively real life (given all the green screens) as it’s just impossible to compete with animation. Had the MCU never happened, no one would care about this movie or it’s predecessor which amazing itself.
What is with chucklehead reviewers saying it's too long? I've watched two movies in the theater this year. I want my money's worth. Tell the story you need to tell in the time you need to tell it. That one guy also doesn't appear to know what "Part 1" means.
Dude said the flash did multiverse better than Spiderman is absolutely insane and a fan boy. Just saw the movie and while it was a good movie the fact he said that it did multiverses better is absolutely incorrect. The flash broke its own time travel and multiverse rules like 3 times.
This movie was a part one for Miles, but it was a complete story for Gwen. Repaired her relationship with her father and found her band. It was her Fellowship of the Ring
the recognition of a person telling a loved one about who they are (whether they're a spider-person or part of the LGBTQIA2+ community) and fearing their loved ones' reactions to that is so powerful. the two things are similar, but not quite the same still (based on my own experience). EDIT: i'm saying this to show appreciation for the fact that this was brought up, in case that was not recognized immediately. I'M SORRY 😭
(just to note: i've partaken in some 🍃🍃 iykyk) i've also seen guardians 3. i haven't read any of the comics, so i'm sure my comment is deemed invalid in any arguments, but i'm going to say my piece anyway. i would still argue that ATSV is better on so many levels. visually, it's really hard to argue that. on a philosophical level, guardians 3 and ATSV are tied. the depth in rocket's story was a great addition to the storyline and i think he was a great pick to make a main character in THAT movie (if he's considered a main character for that movie). same with gwen stacy's intro and honestly her story throughout (in subtle ways). it's giving more depth to the series, and i'm ABSOLUTELY here for it. soundtrack? hands down daniel pemberton for ATSV. no argument. when i listen to the soundtrack on its own, i visualize the movie in my head. that may not be the case for some people (idk. it might be, though), but it's such a captivating soundtrack--from when Rio has her talk with Miles, to the Nueva York Train Chase. I am constantly playing the artist soundtrack in my car, and I'm especially happy when "Another Dimension" plays in my shuffle. 😍 TL;dr: I'm a bit biased. ATSV is a great movie and you should watch it if you haven't.
Is it safe to assume that because of the events of finale of No Way Home, there weren’t more visuals or mentions of Tom Holland Spider-Man apart from the Dr. Strange reference? Would the other Spider-Men forget a fellow Peter Parker and just know them as Spider-Man?
Also was anyone thinking in their head that Miles could’ve just gone invisible during that whole chase scene? Haha I couldn’t stop thinking about that for the rest of the movie.
At some point the guy on the left says he didn't like that the balance was off in terms of the multiverse and Miles trying to be a good son, but my interpretation was that it's the same Spiderman on a larger scale. He is struggling to be a good son but keeps getting ripped away by his hero duties.
the whole purpose of this movie was to NOT be another Spiderman movie with the same tropes. It wants to tell its own story and be unique which is why I find a lot of the takes in this video confusing, I don't feel like they truly get this movie and its central themes and only look at it from face value and judge it based on the other spider man movies. The directors knew that if they made this film about another Peter Parker it would end up being the same thing as the live actions and it would have not even been noteworthy to watch. They want to tell spider man how they want to not based on the tropes of the other superhero movies but make a new and original story that hasn't been told before which is something marvel definitely needs to learn from.
Oh one thing! This movie fixed the weird Morbius Vulture moment. They said that villains are being pulled into random different realities. That’s what happened to Keaton. He said it had to do with “spider-man” and he was right, it just wasn’t the Dr Strange event like we thought.
What happened in Morbius IS because of Into The Spider-Verse. The Renaissance Vulture ended up in Gwen's Universe and MCU Vulture ended up in The Sony Universe.
Thank you...I am shocked not more people are saying this. I hope she plays a role in part 3. Regardless this to me is the Best SpiderMan movie and has a great chance to be the best Comic book trilogy.

@@fishertheadore6095 This may be a reach, but it shows signs that there is a tiered hierarchy to the world's social structure, and as Miles keeps breaking down each level, the locations get grittier and grittier.
Yeah I agree
This!!!

Honestly that was my favorite part of the movie - seeing Miles seamlessly flow between both aspects of his ethnic background. Especially with the little Puerto Rican flag that appeared above her fingers as she snapped!

This may be the greatest superhero film ever made. The banter is unmatched, the story is engaging in so many ways, and the attention to detail and artistic style just blows me away! 10/10 movie!
True. - 10/10.
It seems like critics still want Peter Parker’s “traditional story”……
I think the biggest up over the current MCU I can give Across the Spider-Verse is that it doesn't have the tonal whiplash that the MCU has developed. It has humor, with plenty of fun & quippy scenes. And it has serious scenes, and they don't really cross pollinate like the MCU has developed such a bad habit of recently.
That was my biggest complaint about GOTG3, they'd have a whacky slapstick scene and cut directly into a heart wrenching scene of animal abuse. Or they'd be in the middle of goofy bickering and then one of them yells, "Enough! We have to save our best friend from dying!"
My neck is still sore from the whiplash.
Definitely think that’s a perk of being animated
the jokes are actually funny too. it's not just "strange things happen & normal bystanders react in awe" or "hero performing important heroic tasks but some mundane thing stops the action"
@@jahleel0077 Gotg3 actually balanced it well and most of the jokes landed well too. This was the problem in Thor 4 and Quantumania, not with Gotg3
Most of them grinding on the fact it ends on a cliffhanger even though we've known that since like Wakanda 2

The story actually is complete from Gwen’s perspective. She is in a different place with herself/her family at the end of the movie compared to the start.
So glad I’m not a critic. You could nitpick anything to death and back. This movie was amazing.

Correction: This is not Miles story. This is Gwen's story. Even Miles story was told in a way with respect to how it would affect Gwen.
What if the animated universes are pulled into a live action universe similar to how the Ultimate universe was partially absorbed into the 616 in the comics.
since when did two hours and twenty minutes become a super long superhero movie, i’m not even a spiderman fan like that but this movie absolutely blew me away both times i watched it. i liked the first one, i understood the hype, it didn’t hit me like it hit everyone else. this movie was genuinely one of the best movie experiences of my life both times i’ve seen it, so much better than the first one imo. all this to say even tho everyone is entitled to their opinion, i don’t understand the criticisms honestly.

marvel needs a story team. like a visual story team thats making sure the character of each character actually shines in each scene rather than get washed away. Animated movies are so much better with character because there's a whole team of people making sure everything ties in, and with the amount of cg and other complications, i think marvel needs an animation style story artist team for each film

When anomalies go to another universe, they keep their own style. They don’t get written in the universe style, unless they have a stability watch.
I hate that people are trying to force that Gwen is trans narrative when its obvious that all the colors are based on her emotions
The spider verses are so good I wish this was the MCU
I have a theory. I got a feeling Miles Morales of Earth 42 is the hero and he’s fighting against the sinister six. He was supposed to get bit by the spider, but he never did, so because of his intelligence he relies on tech to fight crime. I think he’s going to ask 1610 Miles to help him with the Sinister Six and then help him get back home and also give him a gadget to stop The Spot In the mean time the spider Gwen horde is going to stop The Spot. (Gotta put some respect on his name). Just a theory
Why did 42 uncle Aaron laugh when miles called him a good guy?
@@BluEx22329 Good question
I think since spots powers are basically the multiverse, he'll probably be the one who actually brings back sinister six from alternate universes so we have the cameo and Gwen's team fighting against sinister six and him at the end.
That's right the masterpiece has delivered

Guy complaining about Across the Spiderverse while in front of a Quantumania poster...
feels weird that critics of this movie continue to harp on the fact that it’s a two-parter… it’s become clear to me that not everyone knew beyond the spiderverse was gonna be a thing, but cmon people. once you saw the end credit reference, you should’ve been satisfied. were y’all saying this stuff when the penultimate harry potter movie came out? or hunger games? or infinity war? LOL. it’s an unfinished story but not an incomplete movie. it had EVERYTHING and there’s still more to tell. we all don’t have to agree about it being the “best superhero/multiverse film of all time,” but can we eliminate any discourse about the fact that the story wasn’t resolved yet? IT WILL BE. also want to acknowledge that this movie will inevitably resonate with some people more than others based on personal connections to miles’ identity as opposed to a connection some folks have generally with spiderman. for me, there was an entire level of depth beyond what these SC guys were taking about and that’s OK. it can do more for some than for others. but give me a break with the incomplete story bit
spiderman was the first time i even saw/heard of the concept of dimensional travel and other realities. i saw it in the 90s spiderman cartoon with madam web and the beyonder. so for spiderman to be one of the only superheroes to meet themselves in other realities that actually has deeper impact and meaning to all other superheroes not just his own timeline.
I like Guardians 3 but Across The Spiderverse is 10 times better. Top 5 comic book & animation movie to date.
It’s funny how Sony started the trend of superhero movies with the Raimi trilogy, and then started the multiverse trend with ITSV, and in both cases the original movies are better than anything that came after imo.
The fact that this movie was more multiversal than DS:MoM is insane
These guys complained about the length (a lot) yet Guardians 3 was longer...and felt a lot longer than that. I think they couldn't relate to the characters and core issues so that made it hard for them to be engaged for the duration.

He has a quantumania poster up, kind of instantly loses credibility 😂
I'M SORRY 😭
(just to note: i've partaken in some 🍃🍃 iykyk)
i've also seen guardians 3. i haven't read any of the comics, so i'm sure my comment is deemed invalid in any arguments, but i'm going to say my piece anyway.
i would still argue that ATSV is better on so many levels. visually, it's really hard to argue that. on a philosophical level, guardians 3 and ATSV are tied. the depth in rocket's story was a great addition to the storyline and i think he was a great pick to make a main character in THAT movie (if he's considered a main character for that movie). same with gwen stacy's intro and honestly her story throughout (in subtle ways). it's giving more depth to the series, and i'm ABSOLUTELY here for it. soundtrack? hands down daniel pemberton for ATSV. no argument. when i listen to the soundtrack on its own, i visualize the movie in my head. that may not be the case for some people (idk. it might be, though), but it's such a captivating soundtrack--from when Rio has her talk with Miles, to the Nueva York Train Chase. I am constantly playing the artist soundtrack in my car, and I'm especially happy when "Another Dimension" plays in my shuffle. 😍
TL;dr: I'm a bit biased.
*Ya til you realize he didn’t so he could lure them all together*
Bro, these Spiderverse movies I consider already better than The Dark Knight and Logan.
Comparing Flash vs across the spiderverse? This really didnt age well...
The guest on the left seems like hs wants to dislike the movie but doesn’t actually have any valid negatives to point out
fr!
Yeah dude is a fucking hypocrite
What happened in Morbius IS because of Into The Spider-Verse. The Renaissance Vulture ended up in Gwen's Universe and MCU Vulture ended up in The Sony Universe.
Damn this is a lot really good dialogue and good points made about the MCU.
Did you really just say Falcon & Winter Soldier and Hawkeye were big hits but Moon Knight and She-Hulk wasn’t?? 😂😂
Should have been Madam Webb that was protecting the "spider-verse!" Not Magel..
Thank you...I am shocked not more people are saying this.
I hope she plays a role in part 3.
Regardless this to me is the Best SpiderMan movie and has a great chance to be the best Comic book trilogy.
Madam web spins the multiverse so isn't she more like a God than a interdimensional error correcting force.
At the time of commenting, I want to say that I loved MoM.
But, more importantly, thank you for all of your videos.
It was better than the last 4 MCU movies 100%
Simply The BEST Spiderman Movie.
