Im such a big fan of yours! You speak so well, and your energy for gardening is contagious. Hopefully I get myself a bit of green paradise in my home 😊
Love this video.....full of all kind of interesting facts and fun stuff. You and your husband are doing great things with your videos. Can't wait to see your next video. Makes me very happy!
If you've never been, the Philadelphia Flower Show is always SPECTACULAR! Hope you're able to do a video on the experience. We're going opening day, and cannot wait! Now that you've mentioned Espoma, I'll be sure to look for them while there. Safe travels and ENJOY!
if you fertilize the staghorn fern with a blended banana peel(blended in water) it will burst with growth. Also a piece of paper towel works great too for keeping soil from falling out the holes in pots.
Actually i had a huge one my mother fell in love with an i would place a banana peel in one of the "cups" closest to the moss an leave it there to decay. Worked like a charm !
My lilac branches are doing awesome too. I cut them the same day you posted the first video and they have been so fun to watch. Before, I had no idea you could do this, so I appreciate the ideas!
You should do a video for getting into gardening! My dad and grandfather were and are avid gardeners and would love to carry on the tradition! Plus I love learning all new tips and tricks from your videos! 💖
In your next q&a, could you talk about how you got started with plants, gardening, and your career? I very recently became interested in plants and would love to expand my knowledge.
I say Kalanchoe and Poinsettia the same way you do Laura. I'm from the south and that's how all my friends say it. Love you videos. I just made my first purchase of succulents from The Succulents Source. I can't wait to get them!
love plant hauls! I learn a lot! I'm the same with gloves...i bought a pack of 6 last year that are similar to the ones you use. thanks for sharing Laura! 😆
Wow! I didn’t realize the struggles others go through when they live in areas where it snows. I live in California where I don’t get such extremes in weather. I thought I had it difficult because the temperature gets to a 100 here in the summer, but I guess not.
Could you do a house plant tour? Or maybe a video of which plants do the best indoors? I have an apartment and no room to plant anything outside, so I was wondering how you do your indoor plants! Thank you for being you!
I gt a pot of sensaveria birdnest with 6 plants, so I seperate two and planted them in two individual pots, and kept one in my bedroom, put white stones around the plant. To my surprise a nw plant is popping out😀
I work in a greenhouse in mid Michigan. We say it how you do. I am going to bring it up at work tomorrow. See what they say. My first thought is regional as well.
Would love to see a video series on your favourite perennials/other things for each zone! I live in a zone 3b.... Its cold. Haha... Hard to find stuff that is as gorgeous as what you can plant that will survive here! :p
Putting gravel in a pot only serves to raise the perched water table. By putting gravel into pots to try and improve drainage you're actually doing the exact opposite. Essentially, the gravel acts as a false bottom, and the mix behaves as though the bottom of the pot has just been raised, so you're working with less potting mix and more water because as the bottom of the mix raises so does the perched water table. If you think the gravel is helping your succulents or whatever it is you're planting, it's actually making their roots more soggy.
How do you get rid of grass in your garden beds? I didn't really pay too much attention to it but now, a year later, it's become fairly well rooted and has spread. (Duh!)
Laura, darling.... here saying HELLO from Orlando, Florida. You are an inspiration. Thank you very much for your Blog and wonderful tips. "come and visit me"
Great Video, have you used your cordyline yet. 😀 The variety is fruticosa and is a beautiful plant. I have a few myself and they are beautiful and full of rich colours 🌱🌴😀
great video, thank you! I have a question maybe you could help answer. could you explain the different types of moss & how to know which to use based on what your planting or if they're all good to use on anything? I'm planting succulent baskets, misc succulent decor and houseplants but I'm so overwhelmed by the moss options...
Carla Radke I was wondering the same thing. I have had cats who wouldn't touch a houseplant, but I have cats now who have destroyed houseplants. Dexter is a good kitty!
I think rocks in the bottom of any planter is a good idea if you plan on having them outside to keep them from blowing away or tipping over but question of it would hurt the roots any thoughts?
Laura I am in south east New Brunswick Canada and considered zone 5 and I want to know if you can cut from any lilac tree for forcing....I have an old breed of lilac tree on my property I would say 100 years old and I didn't know if this only worked on the newer hybrid types Thanks and really enjoy your vids
hi love your videos very helpful as im a new gardener i have a question about elk horns would love to know if and how you can frow from seed or cutting or something and what types are out there im in Australia so would be difrent from what you have or can get but any advice would be amazing thanks
the good about watching your videos: I want to plant more and get more into gardening and clean my house to make it all nice. the bad. I don't have the money or time to keep up a gardening hobby. the ugly. I have yet to actually have a plant survive longer than 2 months at my house.
hello! I'm new to gardening and I have a silly question :) when to cut roses? in spring or fall? you probably don't say it like that but I hope you understand me :D
Totally random question, but does anyone know where to buy the furry microphone bit for point and shoot cameras, like the one attached to her canon for the vlog style portion 👀 I've been looking for one for a long time now 🙏🏾🙏🏾
That is so cool about the branches, how often do you change out the water? So glad we didn't get as much snow as you all did, in fact my husband mowed yesterday which is unheard of, we live on the east coast. He says if this is global warming he'll take it, lol.
Katherine Frizzell don't know if its any help, but some people use chopsticks or two spoons to cradle the cactus, like tongs, and repot (hope you understood what I meant, english isn't my first language)
Ok since you brought it up, I think you pronounce Weigela incorrectly. It's a German word and Ws are pronounced with "V" sound and long i. So its veig-e-la 😁
I love these videos where we can basically "catch up".
Im such a big fan of yours! You speak so well, and your energy for gardening is contagious. Hopefully I get myself a bit of green paradise in my home 😊

When snow go away you have a lot of gardening to do and this is awesome!!!!!!!
if you fertilize the staghorn fern with a blended banana peel(blended in water) it will burst with growth. Also a piece of paper towel works great too for keeping soil from falling out the holes in pots.
Actually i had a huge one my mother fell in love with an i would place a banana peel in one of the "cups" closest to the moss an leave it there to decay. Worked like a charm !
sheriwhispers That works to! But in a indoor environment decaying banana may smell bad...
My lilac branches are doing awesome too. I cut them the same day you posted the first video and they have been so fun to watch. Before, I had no idea you could do this, so I appreciate the ideas!
I've always pronounced it the way you were. I am grateful to you for all your knowledge. You have the best videos.
You should do a video for getting into gardening! My dad and grandfather were and are avid gardeners and would love to carry on the tradition! Plus I love learning all new tips and tricks from your videos! 💖
Kalanchoe can be pronounced either way as long as you say it with confidence
Ciaran F 😂
Ciaran F _
I agree!
I learned it a third way.. with the hard K at the beginning and a soft ch at the end... Like Kal -en -chō -ee ?
I love my crassula tiger jade. It blooms all summer with sweet little pink flowers. So adorable! I think you'll love it too!
Your hedges really took a beat down...liked!
In your next q&a, could you talk about how you got started with plants, gardening, and your career? I very recently became interested in plants and would love to expand my knowledge.
I loved what you did with the Staghorn Fern - very good. Cheers Adam
This video totally makes me want to go out and buy more plants, but it's storming at the moment- so maybe tomorrow!
So interesting even 5 years later!
Next February do a home tour of how all the plants you brought in to over-winter are doing and how your succulent propagation is going.
Yes. Please make a Fiddle Leaf Fig care guide.
I say Kalanchoe and Poinsettia the same way you do Laura. I'm from the south and that's how all my friends say it. Love you videos. I just made my first purchase of succulents from The Succulents Source. I can't wait to get them!

A house tour could make up 4 the garden tour:-)
I have been on the hunt for a fiddle leaf fig! Haven't been able to find one yet. Love yours!!!
I agree on the gloves....fantastic!
Could you do a house plant tour? Or maybe a video of which plants do the best indoors? I have an apartment and no room to plant anything outside, so I was wondering how you do your indoor plants! Thank you for being you!
You mentioned having to look up care for one of your house plants. What do you use as a reference? Do you recommend any particular books?
Eugene Maegan Faber
Yes I would like to know that as well. Thanks.
I gt a pot of sensaveria birdnest with 6 plants, so I seperate two and planted them in two individual pots, and kept one in my bedroom, put white stones around the plant. To my surprise a nw plant is popping out😀

Drill a hole through the broken plant and then use a bolt and nut to join the cambium back together
Thanks for the link to the gloves. I always wear gloves but have trouble finding them for small hands. plus great price!
Would love to see a video series on your favourite perennials/other things for each zone! I live in a zone 3b.... Its cold. Haha... Hard to find stuff that is as gorgeous as what you can plant that will survive here! :p
Lilac branches are looking so beautiful with small leaves😍👌👌

Where I'm from we say kalanchoe like how you guys said it. I think it is a regional thing.
How do you get rid of grass in your garden beds? I didn't really pay too much attention to it but now, a year later, it's become fairly well rooted and has spread. (Duh!)
I love the garden tours
Your videos give me life
nice. thank you

Filter fabric on the bottom of pots for drainage
I love your Chanel and I always watch all yours videos ❤️

Thanks about the gloves I’ve been wondering. I don’t like gloves either but I have had to use them lately.🧤🧤🧤🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Does Dexter bother your plants? I haven't had indoor plants for years due to cats.
Carla Radke I was wondering the same thing. I have had cats who wouldn't touch a houseplant, but I have cats now who have destroyed houseplants. Dexter is a good kitty!
I always pronounced it the same way. In Northern California we pronounced it the way you do.
But in San Diego they pronounce the other way
I think rocks in the bottom of any planter is a good idea if you plan on having them outside to keep them from blowing away or tipping over but question of it would hurt the roots any thoughts?

I thought Kalanchoe was pronounced the way you said it, I'm from Canada. I always look forward to your videos, thanks :)
I remember my grandmother put nails in the garden, for iron?
Can you replant the lilac?
If I were to make a DIY grow light rack of shelves, can I use regular fluorescent bulbs or do you need special plant light bulbs?
DianeCee0 you need special grow lights, read up on it. 😉
Hi Laura, how long does the branches start sprouting leaves when you brought it in ?
What are some house plants or succulents that are good in low light situations?
The way you use to say Kalanchoe is very close to the way we say it in Spanish. 😊😉
the good about watching your videos: I want to plant more and get more into gardening and clean my house to make it all nice.
the bad. I don't have the money or time to keep up a gardening hobby.
the ugly. I have yet to actually have a plant survive longer than 2 months at my house.

Love your channel :) thanks

Any thoughts why my ficus burgundy is dropping healthy looking leaves?
maybe it's regional - in Utah we pronounce it the way you do: call-anne-cho.
DOWN WITH THE PRIVET BUSHES
That is so cool about the branches, how often do you change out the water? So glad we didn't get as much snow as you all did, in fact my husband mowed yesterday which is unheard of, we live on the east coast. He says if this is global warming he'll take it, lol.
wow im in detroit
Any updates on the plants shown here?
Hello
where did you purchase your head planter??
How do you keep the cat out of your plants? A lot of plants are toxic to kitties.
how do you plant/repot cacti without pricking yourself?
Katherine Frizzell don't know if its any help, but some people use chopsticks or two spoons to cradle the cactus, like tongs, and repot (hope you understood what I meant, english isn't my first language)
Called out!!! 😜
Hi, where can I get a head (did you call it a Hermes head planter?) planter? I've been looking for one - where can I buy it?
amzn.to/2megncb I think this is the same one! :)
Yay! Thank you! :)
didn't see this video in time for the Detroit show... my fault!
I believe it's acceptable to pronounce kalanchoe either way. I've heard it both ways and I know exactly what they're saying either way.
How can I find the syringe you use for watering?
Deborah Barnes I got one on Amazon
would love to collaborate with you
We say Ka ...Lan choooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I WANT A FIDDLE LEAF FIG!!!!
I just subbed you. Look forward to watching your gardening videos. Where are you located? Zone?
LARK'S GARDENS 5
I think if I called it kal-an-co-ee here in Texas I'd be laughed at mercilessly. Who knew?
What! I pronounced Kalanchoe the same way! Ahh! Still will.
actually Kalanchoe is correct well at least in spanish is the correct way ;) Kalansshoee
When I need answers, put your questions out to Google!!

Two videos in a row are you
Spoiling us ?
At 9:56 it appears you have a weird visitor in your French doors, watched it a couple times. Is your house haunted???
thats probably her husband lol
It looked like it was outside. I think it was a car driving up.
Does mulch attract spiders?
Ok since you brought it up, I think you pronounce Weigela incorrectly. It's a German word and Ws are pronounced with "V" sound and long i. So its veig-e-la
😁
Why do you pronounce foliage as “foal-ledge?”
Also, in MI we say arborvitae the right way 🤣 not “arbor-vite-uh.”
I pronauce Kalanchoe just like you, Laura.
kal-uh n-koh-ee this is how its pronounced....from dictionary.
