Or what about some of the backstories to villains? For example, Max Proffit Haltman of the Haltman Works Co. lost his daughter in an accident, and then used a wish-granting supercomputer to try and bring her back. The thing is, because she was never dead, all his efforts of wishing her back to life never worked. Eventually he was driven insane, so when his daughter did come back, he didn't recognize her. Our story ends with his brain being taken over by the machine, and Kirby utterly obliterating him. I know that's more tragedy than horror, but still...

I had really wanted Kirby GCN too - it was really upsetting when the game was officially cancelled after such a showing at that year's E3. However, I believe different aspects of that game were used to make several others on the way a lot better - starting with Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary mode! It took the 2.5D Platforming engine allowing 2-4 players to its own strengths, and one of the bosses definitely seemed like a modified version of the boss mecha in the Kirby GCN trailer. Return to Dreamland was clearly the next game to invoke the GCN trailer feel, including 4-player Co-Op with different Kirby Characters, and not just Kirby palette-swaps. The mecha from the trailer also made an appearance, though with a different paint job and a different pilot. Minor things from the trailer showed up in other Kirby games, including the final, fully realised version of the D3 Mecha. Return to Dreamland was the closest people thought they were going to get to playing Kirby GCN, then Nintendo dropped the Star Allies teaser - many minds were blown away that day...
