I honestly think that Gold might actually be the “strongest” Pokémon protagonist. He’s beaten Team Rocket, the Indigo League, *16* Gyms, and *RED.* He’s pretty tough.
Heracross X Well I believe Sun(Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon) is the strongest. He beated Ultra Necrozma, beated the Elite Four and defended his title against anyone who challenged him. Defeated Rainbow Rocket and the Evil team leaders and defeated Red.
The moment you realize, you had beaten Red back in Alola. You traveled back to Johto, your birthplaces and homeland. But then, you had heard the rumors of a boy, who disbands the broken Team Rocket, who caught Ho-oh and Lugia, who got 16 badges, Suicine's master and the boy who met the Kanto Legend Red and made him remember there's always a place to train and to show who you are. At the bottom of the Dark Cave, here lies Ethan! He wants to battle!
You can hear Gold's determination in this. I can even feel a hint of his more chipper personality. Reds theme is just ominous and lets you know it's about to go down.

Just imagined a gen 1 remake with the battle against Prof. Oak (with Pokeli's awesome soundtrack, of course ^^) after beating the Pokémon League/Completing the pokedex. Then the screen goes black and says "Legends of Mt. Silver" (kinda like the Delta episode in ORAS) followed by a note saying "3 years later". You are now in said mountain looking for the mythical pokémon Mew, you take a quick break to admire the incredible view of Johto and Kanto when suddenly, a kid with a golden hat comes out of the cave. "You must be that trainer everyone talks about..." he says, "I've been waiting for this moment since I first heard your name and all your accomplishments. And I, the Pokémon League Champion Gold, challenge you to a pokémon battle!" And so this badass music kicks in! :D

Very creative and well executed. I love how this music is somewhat less imposing than Red's theme. It implies that Gold is a challenge for Red, but not as much of a challenge as Red is for Gold.
Actually gold is a big challenge for red because gold defeated gyms of johto and kanto, team rocket, elite four and Lance, who uses dragon type, and dragon type pokemon are powerful and difficult to defeat, basically gold's achievements are double of red's, so gold is more powerful

When you fight him the encounter theme from his game is the baclgeound music. In Pokemon a trainer like Red is a legend, but he may not know everything you went through. As I've heard it put when I heard about the SMT character "To him you're just another encounter"

this is pretty legit, and nearly induces the same panic that Red's theme did, the feeling that even if you had done everything preparing this fight, maxed your pokemon and had 50 of every item in the gme, there was every chance you were about to get your ass whooped.

I legit thought as a kid in firered and leafgreen you'd fight silver at the end. A sort of reversal in a way. You reach the end and it's implied you became the champion and went into the cave to search for a legendary pokemon; only to find a new young trainer that challenges you. The other side of the story, a tale where you beat gold.

Typhlosion, Tyranitar, Dragonite, Steelix, Ampharos, and Gyrados would be his team in my mind. (His Ampharos would be female btw) Edit: yes it is the shiny gyrados and the steelix is nicknamed rocky. Also Ampharos could be switched for female Donphan as they are caught close enough together and it's for the crystal players who want an accurate team and can't trade because emulators. Edit 2: For the same reason steelix can be swapped for togetic/togekiss depending on generation
What if... You could battle Gold in Diamond and Pearl. Then the male character in Diamond and Pearl goes to Unova and you battle him Then the male in Black and White goes to Kalos and you battle him Then the male character in X and Y goes to Alola and you battle him. You'll be hit with previous region Pokémon, that you used to love in those previous adventures.

I legit thought as a kid in firered and leafgreen you'd fight silver at the end. A sort of reversal in a way.

This theme is actually dope, I'm hearing a bit of lance's theme, and a bit of the johto gym leader's theme too.
Typhlosion, Tyranitar, Dragonite, Steelix, Ampharos, and Gyrados would be his team in my mind. (His Ampharos would be female btw)
Edit: yes it is the shiny gyrados and the steelix is nicknamed rocky. Also Ampharos could be switched for female Donphan as they are caught close enough together and it's for the crystal players who want an accurate team and can't trade because emulators.
Edit 2: For the same reason steelix can be swapped for togetic/togekiss depending on generation

Then the male in Black and White goes to Kalos and you battle him
Then the male character in X and Y goes to Alola and you battle him.
You'll be hit with previous region Pokémon, that you used to love in those previous adventures.
