Danny I love the way you are critical but only out of pure passion and love. It reminds me of my parents. It keeps these companies honest and keeps it real with us viewers. God bless you don’t ever change! Don’t ever feel bad for giving your honest opinion right from the gut and heart.
Somehow i get the idea that you dislike nitro finishes 😂 You have a valid point, it’s ridiculous that on the highest end and most expensive guitars guitars you have to deal with issues like smell and you can’t use normal stands… i have 40 guitars, can’t play em all equally often, i use towels and blankets on the stands when the guitar is nitro finished and still i am checking all the time if there is damage.
That's the way I look at guitars - If it's a $200 guitar, I expect I'll have to do some work (fret levelling & fret ends, probably change pickups, maybe some electronics). But on a $2000+ guitar (even $1000 guitar), it better be in pristine condition for that money. With the gig bag smells, it's most likely mould build up from the guitar getting sweaty from the player and not being wiped down before storing. Washing the bag in some vinegar and bi-carb soda should help. You might also have to disassemble the guitar and give it a clean around the pickups, bridge and clean around the frets/fretboard with a razor blade.
FYI they are coated with nitro, but it has a normal poly underneath, so the guitar is protected, but they just decided to give it a layer of mojo for the feel. The guitar is an instrument with many imperfections, normal straight frets cannot even be perfectly intonated (see: true temperment), but its these imperfections that make it human. There's a ton of guitar brands that don't use nitro, or nitro layers, aside from buying specifically for content to complain about for your youtube channel, you should consider just buying something else. I also buy satin finishes- for guitars I want to keep, I appreciate the wear from playing. Saying standard equipment ruins nitro is odd, because 90% of guitars sold don't have nitro finishes, so the stands etc are made for the common denominator of guitars. If you buy nonstandard finishes (nitro is nonstandard), that's your choice, and you should buy accessories accordingly. Regardless of original intent, nitro guitars and how they've worn are an iconic aesthetic for guitarists, and the hobby is more than just a tool for the job for most people.
I love nitro , all my Stratocaster (6) are nitro … non of them smell bad . I guess you not really into Aged instruments and it’s cool .. this is the beauty of life , we not all the same . I love my guitars to aged with me …. The sexiest Guitar on earth? SRV number one .. 😊❤😊
I grow tired of hearing from buyers dismissing these conditions on new premium guitars as no big deal. I suspect that's why manufacturers/dealers are trying to get away with selling them, particularly Gibs- ah- you know who...
#NitroSucksBalls I am really impressed with these new thin poly finishes. I got a guitar fetish strat body with a "blemish" that you can't even notice. It was sold as blemished. The finish was so smooth and thin in a good way! I also just bought a brand new Squier Jazzmaster with so many finish flaws and clear coat runs, terrible sanding. If guitar fetish can sell a great product with an excellent finish for a great price any company can. Big brands feel entitled and know they can get away with inferior products. #BigBrandsSuckBalls
The best thing you can do with that McCarty is to stick it in a closet with one of those Ionizing air purifiers for like a full day or so. If after that it still stinks send it back to reverb and get your money back my friend.
Great video, you either like it or hate it Nitro ages better, if you want guitars to always look new,go with Poly everyone has there own Opinion on guitar Finishes. But this goes down that same road as Tonewood,
So... Do you like the nitro? Lmao. Sorry about your experience. Meny including myself love a nitro finish and will pay extra for it. I'm my opinion, it truly does help the body resonate more. In the case of my Fender strats... A LOT MORE. I personally love the smell of nitro. Nothing like opening the case of my Gibson S.G. and getting that smell. You must have gotten one thar absorbed something it wasn't intended to. I suppose a new Nitro finish that hasn't fully cured could possibly absorb surrounding smells. Never herd this complaint before. Nitro is definitely less protective then say a poly finish, and not as "shinny" but it ages wonderfully, if you like that look. You generally dont see PRS guitars, with a lot of "relac" like a Fender or Gibson. Mainly because of the finish, but also, they seem to find their way to collectors then then players. Just my opinion. Nitro definitely has its place in the guitar community.
I just finished watching your video. "Gibson failed "??? In the early years, nitro was the main finish on all brands. And it looked great! Bottom line is... A more durable finish came along. Us it better? That'd subjective as hell. Love your enthusiasm but... they definitely didn't fail. More durable isn't "better"!! It's more "durable"!
This was hilarious. Get those dunk molecules out! I have the same guitar in white, it stunk too when I got it, but it aired out after a few days and doesn't smell anymore. It's a great guitar BTW. I do agree nitro kinda sucks. I have a 1997 ce 22 with a polyurethane finish. Still looks great.
Wipe the guitar down with naptha/lighter fluid which is the solvent that most all luthiers use to wipe down guitars with. It will not harm poly or nitro finishes. Nitro has it's own type of a smell and that might also be part of the odor of that guitar that you might not be liking.
My Gibson standard 50’s smells fantastic. The burst is great and I love the nitro finish. The case smells great also. Also it’s the best neck I have ever played and the fretwork is incredible.
Original Lifton cases that Gibson guitars came in back in the '50's smelled like cat piss a lot of the time. Imagine paying a few hundred thousand dollars for a real sunburst Les Paul , opening the case for the first time and you get a big whiff of litter box......
How much did you save factoring in your time washing the bag and polishing the guitar and then the guitar and bag still stink. Not being critical of you, just weighing the experience and value. Your explanation is the same as Gibson explaining their finish.

Please never stop Danny, I love hearing your perspective. You have a ton of valuable information for all of us!
You crack me up, Danny.
Have a great weekend brother 🤘
3:58 hahah that face said it all! try putting a saché of violet and leave it for a month. I've done this one time and it worked.
Another great video about guitar talking have a great weekend

You know,…he’s right! No one else has the guts to say the truth, but, he’s right! Pretty funny stuff, Danny!

My gig bag doesn't funk anymore either BTW. It's a decent bag. Good luck.
nice one,,,🤨😜

Your guitars are lovely Danny
Also ground up coffee grounds will help remove smells from both the gif bag and the nitro. Worked on a smokey SG and it’s bag I got in a trade.
the funk molecules must leave
eyy mark just saw u on addicted haha
@@lyinking1998 What up bro!!???
This video gives me a better look at the S2 and despite the nitro, that's a really nice-looking guitar. Good choice man.
They play and sound fantastic it’s like a way better designed sg
The original vehicle for most lacquers are made of nitro cellulose.but I agree, overall it is a bad finish.

Danny,
Watch Rhett Shull’s current PRS video.
thanks... i entered the giveaway
If nitro never completely cures, doesn't it make sense that sound would be transmitted better by a solid finish, like poly?
nitro dont cure at all. it aint ham
Your vids are hilarious. Thank you.
Glad you think so!
extra funky !
Fabreze that gig bag!!!!!!
nooooooooooooooooooooooo

After 6 months, You crack me up, again. "nitro sucks balls"
its a terrible finish

True

its ok, the stink is less and less each time I check
@@guitarhobbywithdannythemedic Great News.
I love nitro. I love poly too. My vintage hofner basses all have checking love it.
you are hilarious, You have taken the red pill.

Nitro is the epitome of all that is evil in this world.
eyy fatt
I think you should name that guitar "Stinky"
So, one of these days, you should probably tell us what you think about nitro finish. I have this sneaking suspicion you might not be a fan.
What would happen if you sprayed polyurathane over Nitro to protect it?
They spray poly underneath as a base coat now. Stops it from cracking
lol...... "Now lets talk bad about Gibson"
My Gibson standard 50’s smells fantastic. The burst is great and I love the nitro finish. The case smells great also. Also it’s the best neck I have ever played and the fretwork is incredible.
I got one on the 50’s standard with the satin finish and it by far my favorite electric I’ve ever owned/played
#AddictedToNitro #QuitHuffingNitro #NitroKills #HelpYourLocalNitroHeadGetClean
I've got rid of amps because they were in smokers houses, you can't get rid of that smell
a solid body guitar ball sucking nitro finish that stinks is different from an amp that stinks.
Original Lifton cases that Gibson guitars came in back in the '50's smelled like cat piss a lot of the time. Imagine paying a few hundred thousand dollars for a real sunburst Les Paul , opening the case for the first time and you get a big whiff of litter box......
my heavens lord
I have a guitar with a nitro finish and it’s not a problem some people’s sense of smell are different than others I guess

I wasnt doing anything anyway
But but but the funky smells add to the tone!!!
Especially that "vanilla" smell from a Gibson Les Paul!
