Great reviews. I love that you let the songs play longer than most other reviewers and you do a frequency test which is helpful if you're really trying to determine how low the speaker can go. Well done.
We had just tested the Sony XB30 against the new JBL Charge 4. The main thing for us is the overall audio quality, in full sprectrum. OK, this is not HIFI - but I guess good enough. Both was tested under the same EQ setting, I'm using to play a Samsung S7E with the VLC player. I had a Sony XB30 for 2 years and I love it. My cousin's Son wanted a portable speaker and we wanted to compare them. First he got a Bose SoundLink speaker what He took back to the store within 1 day. That had clear sound but not loud enough and had no bass - as we also heard too. (the parents) He desperatelly wanted the Charge 4 - because his friends have the same. That was little more expensive than the Bose, but so let it be... he was relentless. After he got his desperetaly wanted C4 - we compared with the Sony XB30. The C4 in the middle and the high range is totally clear. Dot. That is all. With the same EQ settings even was little bit louder - just because the middle range is more aggressive than the Sony's. But about the bass - about the totall range the Sony sounded much better. Tried to play with the EQ but the C4 simply just has no more it. 4 of us had the unequivocal opinion - if the sound what is matter, the Sony won. The other strange thing was regarding the C4 - all of us heard, about max. volume - that the C4 regulated itself all the time, just pulled the volume down and after put that back. That was so annoying. I guess that is some kind of self-protection. However the Sony was clear and continously loud and full of clear bass with full volume without any glitch. No torsion. (Money for Nothing, Garden Party, Scooter, NWA, D-moll Toccata and Fugue - we tried all of our favorite songs) I have to say, in our case the childish hype won against the common sense. Not to mention the price difference - the Sony newest modell - the XB32 is cheaper about €50 from the C4... (regarding the custumer feedbacks the XB32 as good as the XB30 or the XB31) Regardless what we bought - we, the parents recommend the Sony's XB3 series speakers against the JBL Charge 4.
Sony always manufactures products that you can adjust without getting any problems. For example, Sony makes its TV with the basic settings is a little lower especially the color, compared to other brands like Samsung that make their TV basic settings very high to catch the attention of the buyers, but when you adjust the settings of the Sony, you will get the best results compared to others. Same thing here. JBL adjust it's basic setting to a clearer phase than Sony, but when you adjust the EQ of SOny, you can get deeper bass and clearer sound in Sony.
Charge 4 generally sounds better, but Sony has a bit more bass; maybe it seems like more because it has less treble. At maximum volume the Charge 4 sounds cleaner and louder, with a bit more bass. Overall you can't go wrong with any of these two
xb32 plays without eq settings. on the bass + 10 mids +3 treble + 10 settings this mono shit has no chance. I had a lot of JBL speakers but I changed to xb41, 31. With quiet listening the bass is bigger in Sony in JBL only after increasing the volume the bass is stronger, it annoyed me. Sony goes down to 20hz JBL to 55
The JBL Charge 4 has more bass and brighter mids and highs than the Sony xb32, but you can tweak the xb32 with the songpal app to match them both in sound which is really great of sony. In JBL you'll just have to wait for a firmware update to get a better sound quality or smoothing of sound.
Great review as always. Love the 60% vs 100% volume sample. If possible can you do an outdoor test of theese medium speakers? Currently have the Charge 4. Keep it up man!
please dont be fool stereo sound matters when drivers have more than 2 meters distance i mean you cant notice the diffrance of mono or stereo when there is 4 or 5 cm of distance between drivers, so...
Stereo or not, the separation is unperceivable when listening as the drivers are so close to other. Also *some* people who buy either one will not be bothered about where the sound comes as long as it is satisfying, they will not look for specs or anything, will not use EQ to fix the sound, just listens music how it's been presented from the speaker and charges when it needs more juice. I own a JBL Charge 4 and I'm considering purchasing the sony. I feel like JBL needs to go back to stereo and sony has better features and sound quality
Have the XB30 and my gf has the Charge 4. The JBL simply outclass mine with ease. The sound is much clearer and just closer to a hifi speaker. Not very interested in which one punches out the most bass but both are fine in my opinion. The Sony looks way cooler with the lightstrip. In the end I would still get the JBL. The treble and mids are to die for considering the price.
We can't hear stereo in Bluetooth speakers because two drivers is too near to hear any stereo so if you want good speaker, cheap and speaker with good sound, choose Charge 4 'cause you will never hear a stereo in Bluetooth speakers :)
Damn I'm currently thinking to get a jbl charge 4 bt speaker and then your video pops up in my sub-box 👍 I think the Charge 4 has a much clearer sound and supports more the high frequencies + it's a more 360° sound experience then the XB32 - those are more directional sound I probably get JBL Charge 4 soon, since a few friends of mine own the 3rd generation of it. I see why some higher end brands just use mono speakers on their smaller models.

It seems JBL is asking people to buy more than one speaker to get the stereo output. But it's unlikely that many will follow. Sony is apparently doing a better job in that area.
You all that love Sony, forgot about Sony's stupid restriction which won't let you listen to music at full volume when the battery is below 50%. Also I prefer JBL because you see the bass (radiators) and for me JBL have always better design, and in general I'm JBL brand lover.

If it doesn't make a difference between mono and stereo, then, why didn't JBL give us mono from the beginning? Why switch the game up now? Are they just being cheap or something?
@@ricgillis1280 I think with jbl for charg 4 he could not cheaply produce 2x15 watt construction, so he took a shortcut and produced 1x30 watt to cut costs and increase power in this model :-(

o998 7745 yea but to be honest I don’t care about mono or stereo even with my Xtreme 2 after 50cm I can’t even tell if it’s stereo or Not anymore and the charge 4 is even smaller and the flip 5 again even smaller so it gets more and more difficult to even notice the difference
@@RealTalk532 Similar to the Charge 4, the price of the Flip 5, will drop like a rock because of its mono speaker! Why must JBL cheap out this way?SMH!
I think you should make one more test after tweaked highs
Test the tribit max sound plus speaker I don’t have one but I heard that it sounds soo good
Jbl charge 4 sounds better on my earphones, it sounds brighter. I dunno why Sony XB32 sounds dull, considering the Sony also supports LDAC, stereo speakers versus the Charge 4's SBC codec and mono speaker. The Charge 4 really sounds overall better, specially on Highs and Bass.
C4 :
Mid /High = a bit better than XB32
Bass = equally good
XB32 :
-Sound separation is better than C4
- Sound Stage is a bit wider
- Overall is good and smooth for me
Man dx untrippin, just get a second charge 4 and set them to stereo u will love the results
Lost asf! Should I get the Xb33 or xb32
You turn on extra bass on sony......you don't turn on connect plus on jbl (makes better bass) and don't turn on lfm. Why...jbl have bass modes too(sorry if my english isn't correct)
Review your backround speakers please
Dear Willington, which would you choose?
He choose Sony XB32 (stereo & LDAC)
It seems JBL is asking people to buy more than one speaker to get the stereo output. But it's unlikely that many will follow. Sony is apparently doing a better job in that area.
xb32 has LDAC, thats a instant win
what about one driver in Charge4 ? what about sounds stage ?
When you are up close to it you ll definitely feel it mono character. For this price range mono is actually a stupid thing.
You all that love Sony, forgot about Sony's stupid restriction which won't let you listen to music at full volume when the battery is below 50%.
Also I prefer JBL because you see the bass (radiators) and for me JBL have always better design, and in general I'm JBL brand lover.
xb32 play Ldac ??
You are best!;)
Sony Sound better 😍😍 and Louder
I'd take the xb32 for low latency in watching videos.
Listening on my xb 32
Idiot
@@kingslayer2731 JBL fanboy
@@klauspl6530 why? I called him idiot becouse he is listening to a Soundbattle with his shit Bluetooth speaker and not with Headphones
@ishak pop You dont listen to a sound comparison on a device which will change the sound. Use good headphones so you can actually hear it accurately! Iam not a JBL fanboy, i own speakers from them but i also have a Speaker from Sony
I love stereo 😎
The only JBL speakers that has the light shows is JBL Pulse series.
Wrong! The partybox 100/300/1000 all have lights
Only the ones that run on batteries (built-in).
@@Towabear I'm a 100% sure that the partybox 300/100 have batteries but the 1000 doesn't have a battery
Sony win the sound battle
Why doesent he ever enable jbl charges low bas mode for the low frequencies test🤔 i have charge 4 and when i enable it i have basses moving around at even 1 hrtz
I have Charge 4, it's the best among all Bluetooth speakers at this range. Go for Charge 4, you won't regret buying it
Charge 4 wins but in mono :-(,thanks DLX
So what u dont know that a BT speaker is TOO SMALL to hear stereo sound all those dumb peaple that are saying that u can hear left and right sound out of a BT speaker u can but only if u are with ur head inbetween the BT speaker
If it doesn't make a difference between mono and stereo, then, why didn't JBL give us mono from the beginning? Why switch the game up now? Are they just being cheap or something?
@@ricgillis1280 I think with jbl for charg 4 he could not cheaply produce 2x15 watt construction, so he took a shortcut and produced 1x30 watt to cut costs and increase power in this model :-(
@@eeeeee1630 yes same here i have ch4 flp4 clip3
Nothing special about JBL speakers, they got the best overall sound quality but Sony has its own signature sound which make them standout against other speakers
JBL here brother!
Xb22 vs xb20 plz
Xb20 better
The Sony sounds like you put it in a towl, and the Jbl has good Bass and very clear Bass
Yep
XB32's bass is stronge
And distorted
And without good mids
It's terrible lol
@@alberto-sama2022 corectly
Listen its better they are just jbl fan boys like useual but we all know that the sony sound better
Easily XB32 w/ stereo and "wider sound". You would need two JBLs capable of doing tandem stereo....
G H u have to put your self so close to Sony speaker to hear stereo bruh
2019 mono sound!!! Sony #1
Letting you know that one is 40$ cheaper then the other, and the sound and bass diff is pretty small but yeah, Sony wins by sound, but if the same money was invested in charge 4 well...
Thanks
I like Sony. As always
Sony sucks maan
I missing some tunes in the the sony. i hear no pelvis in the xb32 . the jbl has better sound performens
Are u crazy.. My xb31 beats the hell out of my jbl charge 4. 0-50% volume the bass from the sony is just amazing. Jbl no bass. Only after 50% volume does the jbl comes alive.
Can't really tell that with youtube test. Don't know why but live, XB31/32 beats the doors off of JBL mono. Not to mention easy equalizer via the app.
SONY 👍👍👍
jbl boombox vs lg rk8 test
On outdoor Wich have more bass
The best chanel
The charge 4 sounds better n video but n person the Sony does and it sounds a little bit louder but not by much
Right, you can't really hear how much better the Sony stereo sound is. Have to order them both from Amazon prime and send the one that doesn't sound good for you back. Many people don't have really discriminating hearing in that case the JBL much cheaper will do just fine.
@@GH-iw5ew get charge 3 and use a eq bc c3 sounds muffled
To my suprise, the Sony has much more present bass, but on everything else the Sony is not very good compared to the jbl. I think I might purchase the Sony this Time bc of the bass. I mean I already got a charge 3 so.
great choice! xb30 is still great for its price as of today...
