I was originally looking at a 981 S, but coming from an Elise and 4C background, I didn't want anything too refined. Prefer cars with more soul...I think the 987.2 S manual is going to be my best bet, so I pulled the trigger! I've also had a 997 C2S and a 996 C4S. Will be interesting to compare the differences.
Glad to hear you pulled the trigger on a 987.2 S. Great idea on the comparison between the 997 C2S and 996 C4S. We have both in stock so I will do a review
@@humunahumunaha9770 I still have the 987.2 S and I think it is fantastic. No plans to sell, but I may add a 997.2 in the future. 987.2 is a great ride because it does a lot of things very well. It is more nimble feeling than either 911 and it has a higher sensation of speed. Both 911's felt slightly more planted leaving a corner (especially the C4S) but the Cayman is more thrilling to drive either fast or slow. You might feel a bit cooler driving the 911 and it is the better/more comfortable long distance cruiser but its splitting hairs. The Cayman overall just feels lighter on its feet and more agile. I'm really enjoying it and it has been rock solid reliable. Hope this helps!
There is no way that a coupe with two useless rear seats and a potent engine placed in the rear can be better than a midship engine. I always aspired to own a 911 until Porsche dropped the Cayman in2004, I don’t care about speed or the bragging right of 0-60, the handling of my 987.2 is unbelievable on a twisty road. I will not upgrade to a 911 as the GT4 is the way to go if I need more mph. The 911 is a great GT but the slightly underpowered Cayman is also greater on normal road use. I concur with you.
No, it just depends on what you want, many people prefer the 911 because it's a more refined package especially the GT3, yeah the GT4 changes direction better but Porsche still handicaps that car so the GT3 has the better suspension and tire setup which gives slighty more steering feedback and road comfort than the GT4 but you can argue that the GT4 doesn't need that stuff so like I said it's just a matter of preference.
@@raymondadams5779 nope, different interiors, different chassis, different wheelbase, only some parts are the same, the 911 has been constantly refined since the 60's it's actually too refined now
@@raymondadams5779 stop exaggerating, you said seats forward is the same and yet the whole dash is different, yeah they share a few parts but the 997 is more refined and luxurious, softer ride, quieter, and more power, I'm stating facts there's nothing to argue about lol
Great video, thank you. I’ve owned a 981 for three years. I thought after a couple of years I’d be wanting to change it for a 911 of some sort but I’ve never felt the need or want too. Love the cayman for what it is and as a weekend toy it ticks every box.
Love Basheer's comment about the 2.9 allowing a little time to enjoy reaching 70mph. Before getting a 987.2 2.9 Boxster, the thrills of my B58 engine suggested the base Boxster model would be too slow for me. How could a 255hp sports car match up to my 335hp daily driver? But, thankfully, the Porsche is just such a joy to drive, regardless of raw horse-power, it always puts a smile on my face :o)
Very few people understand that, most just want more power not thinking 90% of the time it doesn’t get used at all. How many miles have you done in yours?
@@InvictusMotors It's an unusually cool, overcast, and rainy winter here in Charlotte, NC this year. And despite every effort to drive it, the car having been purchased Jan 3rd this year has only added about 350 mostly in-city miles (back & forth to work). Looking forward to a drive to Asheville, NC and surrounding areas. And soon a drive to Myrtle Beach to see ma for Easter
987.2 S here. It's a good feeling. I think the 911 fan boys will wake up one day and the value of these will skyrocket. Meanwhile take advantage of the situation!
I’ve got the base cayman 987 and totally agree with your review
Thank you Parvin, these Caymans are a lot of fun for the money especially when it comes to Porsche’s.

@@BRAINFxck10More refined? From the seats forward the 987 is all 997 part numbers.

Glad you like them!
The 2.9 manual is the sweet spot of the Cayman range!
987 cayman marvellous car
They definitely are, a great driver focused sports car 👍

I've got a '11 boxster spyder. Great content. I did some mods, but still very much about the long pull. Enjoy the ride.
One of my favourite cars!
Nice to hear, by far my favourite too 😊👍❤️
I’ve got mine!! 😛😛
Love it 😍

Caymans are just EASY, doesn't it mean better? Nah ,,,,
What do you think is better in your view?
This doesn’t tell us anything !
