Nice review, I’ve been wondering about the 9-3’s for a while, especially the TTiD. I’ve got a 9-5 TiD (single turbo) turbo edition, very nice car but definitely a boat especially since it doesn’t have the aero suspension. The TiD engine suits the car but only after a remap, before it would struggle a little bit in lower revs and the gearing on the 5 speed manual is quite long. I’m quite young so I was shocked when I could get the 9-5 without a black box while the 9-3 they were giving me black box quotes 😂. Great cars though, the 9-5 while not the quickest feels like a tank and keeps up with traffic now. The single turbo engine is reliable and capable as well, might do some supporting mods for stage 2+ see how it goes, chucked the egr which is the cause of most of the problems. However it’s a split between investing in the current car, or waiting to buy one of these. In high spec, the 9-3s are somewhat comparable to the 9-5s interior wise, the one thing that bothers me is that I heard that the sound system in the 9-3s is not up to scratch even with the rare bose package. The 7 speaker system in the 9-5 is very good, and apparently the harmon kardon upgrade was even better. The 5 speed manual and automatic in the 9-5s is quite outdated compared to the 6 speeds in the 9-3s I believe. And they really missed out an opportunity not adding the TTiD 1.9 into the OG 9-5 engine line up, should’ve at least been an option if not standard given the size of the vehicle.

That car didn't sound too bad at all, considering you gents across the pond get that silly particulate filter that we don't get here in North America. So our car should sound even better. ✅

I've got 2 Saab Tid, 2010 wagon and 2006 convertible, both maintained in tip top condition by me and they are at 190k and 125k respectively. Apart from the Vauxhall consumables they are fine cars. Regarding the ride it isn't bad but I've owned better. 1996 XJ6, a pair of Peugeot 407 Coupe, E39 540i and pretty much every hydro-pneumatic Citroen (I've owned 25 in total). Watch for clogged EGR, swirl flap bars, DPF and Turbo (if the previous owner neglected the oil filter - ask me how I know!) I believe the TTid has some of it's own foibles like the sump pick up tube (feel free to correct me) but overall the Fiat 1.9 is an absolute peach in my experience. I have the same engine in a Guilietta 130 JTDM which has 350nm of trque and is brilliant to drive even at 165k miles. None of my fleet have any problems, all electrics work fine, and I've just replaced springs, drop links, ARB bushes, calipers, discs and pads (Brembo) on my wagon so the ride and drive are like new. Buy this lads car fellas, a good one of these is a joy to own and they ain't making any more.

I got a Turbo edition 2010 2.0 petrol 6 speed in black , with leather interior amazing car as our daily , other cars a 911 c4S a m140i , CLS63 shooting brake and a XJR 4.2 SC , you have figured now I’m a petrolhead 😅😊

Fun Fact: the SDV6 is the High output Sequential turbo model of the Disco 4, having 10 BHP extra from the earlier TDV6s, and uses a Low RPM turbo to pre-spool the High RPM turbo.
