i love hornby got back in the hobby after 5 years at aged 25 loving it always loved trains so
Can’t say trains are my sort of thing but I’ll sacrifice 15 mins to watch your videos Ian 😂❤🎉👍
Cheers 🍻
Thank you very much lol
@@IKS-Exploration lol no kidding, very interesting I enjoyed was it your ale 🍺 making? Cheers
My advice for success running if a train… is used box fresh new track and tight joiners…. Old track can be rubbish. And clean contacts on the wheels… otherwise they stop start stop start stop start… good luck.
Hornby / scaletrix museum based in margate well worth a visit tbh
Hi I have the Intercity set, lights both ways, very nice🎉
Make sure you give the rails a really good clean before you set them up Ian. It looks like there's a power clip in the box which you need to get power to the track. It's lots of assorted bits and bobs but it looks like enough to get a simple loop of track going to test that HST out on - welcome to the world of model railways!!
Thank you folk :)
Ah - Hornby - didn’t see the ‘b’!!!
Thanks Ian Cheers 🍻 mate
Thanks for joining folk :)
Another great video. Love the train stuff 😊
This is where it's nice that there are so many low cost, reliable, and easy to use 3D printers out there these days. They really let you go hog wild making set pieces for your diorama to do any kind of scene you can imagine. In fact, it's a lot cheaper to do things like buildings and whatnot than it used to be when you had to scratchbuild everything using balsa, basswood, or cardstock. There are some incredibly cool locomotive and railcar models out there as well, though some of the high-end models can eat a pretty big chunk out of your bank account if you start getting really into collecting them, lol....
also when using the controls stop the train fully before changing direction other wise the controler stops working
Hey Buddy . There is a Hornby Island on the West Coast Nestled between Denman Island and the Mainland of British Columbia . You would Enjoy staying there for a while . I think you would Love Exploring Fort Rodd Hill in Victoria . Plus a couple Castles and numerous Historical Areas . If you check out from Portland to Ahouset you can find some Gems . As Well a Good Relaxing Vacation . Trains are Cool Too ! Look up Steam Mountain Oregon and The Rocky Mountaineer Railway Experience Through the Rockies . Love the Channel . Come Visit . History is Anywhere You Take the Time to Pause and Look .
Nice job lot there folk, when you’re down my way I think a trip to Pecorama would be interesting for you, garden railway, model railway layouts and is were peco started their model railway stuff
when it comes to boards forgot to mention i went cheap got a old table from a rubbish dump brought a big base board from jewson spent £200 on fake grass buildings people trains trees oxford diecast cars 1/76 scale for oogauge works wonders also i didnt go with the mat lol
that controler that you said looks like a games controler is awesome
Im still using the old ones, they great if you have nothing else
Plug is a DB9 mate, serial controller plugs/sockets to PC ppl. Very interesting they used that method, as its not an industry standard.
my brain red the title as "horny jailbot" for some reason, and had to do a double take haha
oobill has videos of servicing the 43's might want to familurise (dislexy) your self with the workings. easy enough. great video.
Also your Intercity set is part of the Hornby starter pack R.336 BR Intercity 125 Class 43
Great🎉
❤
the rubber things ar probably to cover the metal rails i guess to stop them rusting if you have a set setup but your not going to run it for awhile you can cover the tracks an protect it ?
Interesting will have a look ;)
The yellow switch is used for switching points or signals or if you run a train into a siding you can run it over a cut in the rail on one side you use the switch to keep the siding live from the controller until the train is parked then switch it so that section of rail is dead, then run another train on the rest of the layout. On your diesel trains look out for the rubber tyres on the drive wheels they degrade over time, the electric is picked up by the free wheeling axel so don't put tyres on all the wheels.
Thank you folk :)
Nice haul Ian 👌 👍
I've no idea what the rubber strips are though, not model railway related from anything I've ever seen.
the intercity power cars you have are class 43 hst's, the coach ( not car as this is an American term) is a mk3 air-conditioned one, the full train would have had 8 of these coaches between the power cars, the livery you have them in is called intercity swallow livery and was around on British rail in the mid 80s untill mid 90s
Thank you folk
The black stripes that come out of the box first are also for the Incline piers runs inside between rail and fence each side hope it help bro
Thank you folk
Of all the scales, 00 is the easiest to get into.
I see a comment has bet me to it😅
Definitely consider buying a 3d printer, you won't be disappointed, it's amazing the amount of useful tools and parts that can be made.
stick all together , and see if it works
Will do soon folk :)
Treat yourself to some Peco code 75 concrete track trust me be best thing you did dude
Not more than fiver surely.
Everything was fine until I saw those orange wagons with faces on them ... creepy.
I never understood the appeal of the Thomas range.
lol yeah not a fan of them will paint them lol
@@IKS-Exploration - Haha. Painting is a good idea. The locs and wagons themselves are actually fine.
Think you'd been better saving the money and going for a nice meal out and have memories rather than stuff that'll only end up in the bin one day. I know loads would disagree 🤣
lol we all have our opinions folk :)
Absolute rubbish
nice score on the Intercity :0
