    Thanks Jenny. Going to make a long table runner with these blocks. I'm in my seventies. No more big quilts for me. Anyway, I live in the tropics so seldom use a quilt on the bed. I love your teaching method. Take care.

    Hi Jenny,
    Your are my hero. I started a beginners quilt class, but due to illness missed out of 4 blocks, so I have used you tutorials to catch up, my teach was amazed that I did them on my own, had to 'fess up and tell her I watched your tutorials. My teacher and owner of patchwork shop said of could not have had a better teacher, and that your Company has revitalised Hamilton. She too is in awe of you. Thank you so much

    Hi Jen, after figuring shipping+transformer/converter cost for Spain, I decided to get get it from Oliso directly from their branch in the Netherlands. It's not your model, because yours is for Pros and I'm still a baby, lol. I got the simplest model but it still HAS IT ALL and I'm IN LOVE with it. Every time I use it I think of you and your great tutorials, so THANK YOU FOR THAT!!! Sorry I couldn't get on your web but I FULLY RECOMMEND IT TO ALL YOUR FANS WHO LIVE IN THE US! Thanks again Jen!

    I just love the "new" way (as opposed to how I was doing it 20 years ago) of making half square triangles for the pinwheels. Soooo much better and easier. It's one of those things that when you see it, it makes you wonder why in the world you didn't think to do that, too. I can't wait to try them again using this technique. Thanks!

    My personal take on the Broken Dishes pattern is to use a neutral background, i.e. muslin or tea dyed muslin, to place the focus on the Broken Dishes print. Wow, I love the Log Cabin setting strips to shift the block orientation.

    Sharon, Yes you can use a fat quarter, but you will have to trim down one side first so that you are using a square that is 18x18 inches. I believe this will yield about a 16 inch total size block after sewing all 4 of the smaller blocks together. That is a really smart idea, especially for those of us who have a whole lot of fat quarters. Lol

    @phillis mueller The layer cake is 10x10 so I think you just cut a light and dark one down to the 5x5 size (charm pack size). Then you will have 4 squares that are exactly alike that you sew together like Jenny is showing. The 4 squares make the broken dishes square. I hope my explanation makes sense to you! Jeanette

    Hi Jenny, I like the way you make this block, instead of using all the 1/2 square triangles, however, with layer cake, what is the unfinished block size? I squared my and it measured 11" square. Is that correct?
    Thank you.

  • @Kuestenrennmaus
    @Kuestenrennmaus 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    One 4patch should end as a 3 3/4 block (finished size) if sewn with an 1/4 inch seam. So so full block should have the size of 7 1/2 inch finished size.

    I want to use this method to make a smaller version of the Broken Dishes Block, because it seems so much easier than actually cutting and sewing triangles, but I just wonder (to do the math and size it down) at what size does the block Jenny made with charm packs finish?
