      100%. You’re going to be fine. INM laughed at us in Tijuana at both the airport and land crossing when we tried to stamp out. No stamp out and no issue returning. The procedure changes often it seems. In PV, one of the first to trial no FMM years ago… FMM is back for EVERYONE including residents 😳 we learned just a few weeks ago on arrival. Immigration did not enforce for us thankfully. The agent in the massive queue said don’t worry about it. Mexico City also has a tourist only INM before security and a resident only INM to stamp out after security. It can be overwhelming so we just do our best and go with the flow!

    We’ll your video scared us just a bit, but we think it’s okay. Things seem to be changing but there is a lot of confusion. We just flew out of Puerto Vallarta as Americans who are new Permanent Residents of Mexico and wanted to share our experience in case it would be helpful to anyone. Our understanding is that in the old way, we would have needed to fill out FMM on exit as you described. We went to the airport immigration counter to do so as you did. They informed us that paper FMMs were not needed for us because of the new electronic system. They said Puerto Vallarta was one of the firsts on the new system and all of Mexico would be online within “a few weeks”. Note that the airline ticket agents agreed with what we learned when we double checked with them and did write “RP” directly on our tickets as added confirmation but it wasn’t necessary. Hope this helped someone! Hopefully this all gets clearer in the coming weeks.

      Thank you for sharing! Yes, we believe a few airports in Jalisco were first to run this pilot program, and Cancun is starting next. It’s also our understanding this new procedure to leave Mexico as residents is not permanent for those pilot airports…yet! And of course, this can change at any time for all airports as they run this trial. Hopefully, it sticks and is rolled out to all airports. But in the meantime for those not flying out of the pilot airports, this remains the formal procedure as it was in Cancun just a few days ago when we left and returned. Andy has to leave again next week (!!) so we’ll update again soon for the pilot program that’s just rolling out in Cancun. Thank you so much for sharing your experience in PV! 🙏

      I had the same experience, I got my permanent resident card mid to end of September this year and flew out of of Guadalajara mid October, the INM officer at the airport gave me only the part to give at the boarding gate, but not the part to return back to Mexico. I did asked he said it was not needed. So when I go back to Mex in March next year I have no bottom, top, or any other part of the FMM to show at the airport.

      @@mrdabolina7344 not having something for our return makes us slightly a bit nervous to be honest, but we’re hopeful it will be a nonissue for all of us. In the end it’s going to be a nice improvement. Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you. I was just wondering if I lost my residency card. Because I didn't do this because I was told by the desk agent, airport agents, and us border patrol agent (once back in us) that because the FMM has been expired it wasn't needed

      Our pleasure. Now when you stop by INM on exit, there’s no FMM at participating airports like Cancun, but they do process your departure at the INM desk.All other airports remain consistent. Safe travels!

    Hi guys, thanks for the video. I recently left Mexico via CDMX and did not get a passport stamp or speak to anyone from the INM. When I got to my destination outside of Mexico, I started reflecting on how that was a bit strange and started investigating and seems like everyone (including this video) is still saying you need to "check-out". I was freaking out, but am now seeing the comments of this video and feel a bit better that maybe the rules have changed. I will be re-entering Mexico in a week so just wondering if you guys have any update on the procedures. Thank you!

    • @TwoGayExpats
      @TwoGayExpats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I left Tijuana, INM laughed when I asked for a stamp out at the airport before walking across the border. Immigration said nothing when I came back through a few weeks later and handed them my RP card. So I don’t think it’s so serious, but as you likely know, inconsistency is the only thing that is consistent in Mexico. I wouldn’t sweat it.

    Just gone to CDMX, the kiosk in T1 is after security. After standing in line for 30 minutes to check in, they told me that I didn't need to present there and the lady at INM said the only thing I need to do is get the stamp from her

    • @TwoGayExpats
      @TwoGayExpats  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s correct. We never go to the airline desk as we don’t have bags to check. The INM kiosk is in the hall before the U.S. gates (29-36) for the stamp out in MEX. We list more info on this airport and how to navigate on our blog: twogayexpats.com/destinations/mexico/gay-mexico-city

    Thanks 😊

    • @TwoGayExpats
      @TwoGayExpats  ปีที่แล้ว

      We don’t other than walking by the CBX entrance at Tijuana airport. There are signs everywhere when exciting and machines to buy your ticket. Take the crosswalk over the highway and then you can catch an uber into San Diego easily from my understanding. If I lived in Dan Diego, I would definitely use it for all travel to Mexico. Looked very organized.

    Great video guys! Question for you - how long do you need to stay in Mexico to get your temporary or permanent resident?

    • @TwoGayExpats
      @TwoGayExpats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s the best part! You can spend as little or as much time as you want in Mexico as a resident! But there’s no requirement to have spent any time in Mexico before you apply. In fact you can only spend up to 180 days as a tourist in Mexico. Thus, if you’d like to stay longer, residency is a good option. Check out our initial video on residency and we outline all the requirement and pros and cons of remaining a tourist versus temp or perm residency!

      I started my process in my consulate in Australia, arrived in Mex mid September got my appointment with INM for 29 September 10 days after arriving, and got my card the same day. As I only had 1 month holiday from work, had to come back to Oz in Mid October. So I managed to complete the whole thing is less than a month. I did mentioned this to the INM officer when I attended to set up my appointment, and showed them my itinerary with my return tickets.

    They don't use FMM forms anymore, correct?

    • @TwoGayExpats
      @TwoGayExpats  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Gosh we thought so then we recently went to PVR and they brought them back!!!! We thought surely we don’t need these at immigration, so we didn’t bother… thankfully, they let us through as residents without, but the tourists 100% had to use them. Just follow whatever is current in the airport you fly into/out of but it’s not so serious anymore. If you get one, be sure to keep it for your next flight. PVR was one of the original test airports to eliminate the FMM so now we’re totally perplexed! 🤔

    • @KatKatz11
      @KatKatz11 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We were in PVR last July and there was no body at the INM booth before we had to board our flight...others were waiting as well. So we just left, this July we are going to Merida to renew residency because that's where we will be living. Hopefully, nobody asks to see stamp in our passport from exiting last trip.
