I feel like the Butterfly that Eunha followed in the concept teaser trailer was never really leading them to the light (good side). The multiple times Eunha tried to save themselves from chaos from every timeline/universe so they could achieve peace again (signifying those butterflies that was let out) , but she fails can interpret that chaos or destruction isn’t something that can be avoided or controlled. Thus while Yerin followed the butterfly, she was lost and trapped along with the others. But we never saw them escape the maze, they got more darker than usual, which may mean that they’ve accepted the chaos and the consequences that came along with their decisions before. Also if you notice the siren call it sounds like the one in the teaser of crossroads when Eunha was looking at the glass bead.
I'm sure there will be some hardcore buddies who will be sad about this concept change. This is so different from the Innocent Bright Gfriend we've come to know and love. But this is what the girls wanted. They said they wanted to do something completely different and show a different side of themselves and they delivered something magical. I'd be lying if it say I don't miss the cute innocent school girl Gfriend. BUT, I welcome these etherial witches.
This was WILD! I was expecting something different but they crushed my expectations, it's insane! The dark shift was terrific but stunning at the same time. This MV is definitely their best and probably one of the best of year as well. The aesthetic and the way it was edited as if it was a book with different chapters to take us through the fairy tale damn: genius! The make up and the wardrobe was top notch as well, it really takes the concept to a whole entire level. They really managed to make an incredible comeback with a major concept change and it was successfully done! It felt like I couldn't recognise them almost which says a lot! I loved this comeback!
I've been replaying the song and mv for days now... The concept, song, vocals, lyrics, styling, MV is just a big chef's kiss. One of the best comebacks this year!
Non-buddies won't think that this concept is such a big deal for us. This is a concept that GFriend has never done before and I am so happy they go for a more sophisticated, full-on NOONA vibes. Love this comeback to bits.
