ABOUT ME
- I'm Cambodian and Chinese.
- I was born in November of 1983 and raised in Houston, although my heart lays in between Houston and Hawaii.
- "OG KPOP STAN": I've always used the term "OG" (supposedly "original gangster") to define being old-school, and I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Kpop was my coping mechanism from the bullying I experienced in my younger years and it's just stuck by me ever since. Also! Just to be clear: me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" doesn't mean that anyone who's listened to kpop later than me is inferior. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time.😄
- I was a hiphop dancer for about 7 years. I did the whole crew thing, auditioning thing, competition thing, choreography thing, dance instructor thing, so I have some experience in that field and I hope to be able to share some perspective from my experiences for y'all to see the extra things that I appreciate about a video when I point them out.
- My videos can have quite a lot of cuts in editing and/or my eyes will unnaturally blink rapidly sometimes. This is because of my neurological disease that came with my lupus nephritis (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome). My thinking abilities and speaking abilities struggle to align at times.
- Yes, that's Jack Sparrow's ring that I always wear in my videos. I've been a Pirates of the Caribbean fan ever since I rode the ride for the first time ever in Disneyland when I was a kid.🤓

Choreo and vocals are just A+++++
My favorite thing besides the dance and song itself is the fact that the gradient of the MV continues to darken the entire time. ( If you run your mouse along the line of progress slowly you will see) It is not a simple quick flip from light to dark but a complete transition. Also, it is so smooth that it continues to draw you into the darkness with them rather than jar you when it happens and the dance also reflects that. I love the dance because even though it the same choreography as the chorus the meaning of it changes with the lighting. In the beginning, it can show an ethereal and pure power that they possess, but with the transition to dark, it's a way of drawing and tempting you to follow them on the path they have now chosen.
Also, the fact that not one pair of chorus is EXACTLY the same choreo. it followed the example of Navillera in terms of choreo flow. They switched it up per chorus

Apple feels like their transformation to become witch (cz mago is said they as modern witch), so apple like they are the goddess who fell down in the sins and became witch (from bright to dark right after the door closed)

To make it really really really short.
They were all friends, got magic powers, were happy, became jealous,
fought against each other, shot at each other. Main character Eunha
(blonde long hair girl) got tired of it. Although she was the first one
who became jealous, she go to a place, there was a bookshop
and it's owner, owner told story about blue Butterflies and with them she can time travel
5 times, after that something terrible will happen and her Glass Bead (those are kinda
their souls?) Will turn dark, she time travelled 4 times but it didn't help to fix their
friendship. In the last MV she released all Butterflies, Gfriend became witches,
in Mago they are modern witches and just enjoy themselves and don't care about others.
1. Crossroads - Confronting decisions at the crossroads in life that affect the friendship.
2. Apple - Embracing the decision to accept temptations in life.
3. Mago - Celebrating the decision to be oneself regardless of others' opinion.

But they are the undisputed queens of synchronised dance so you really should react to their dance practice videos as well. I am no dancer but I find them so satisfying to watch as they are always so smooth and flowing with their movements with insane synchronisation that only comes from endless hours of hard work.
I think you should react to their song LOVE WHISPER...this is their hardest choreography bcoz of the footwork

I love this song so much. I'm not a big fan of their other songs, but this one is incredible. The swingy 80's pop'ish sound reminds me of 50% of all the pop I grow up with here in Denmark.

Will be on the lookout for the dance practice review. Honestly, I enjoy watching Gfriend's dance practice videos more than their MV most of the time (that's changing since Apple for reasons you know now). BTW, there is a face-mask version (blindfolded) of the Mago dance practice.
Interesting fact the burning tree is real and this tree was planted after the first winning with "Rough" and for that comeback the CEO if I'm not mistaken or it was their manager decided to burned it :P
