This is pretty impressive, I'm gonna have to pick one of these up. I was 36 years old when I picked up the snes for my son he loved it, but when he was asleep for school is when I would play and I would get so hooked into it, I would go and buy games and not even show or tell him I had them. I've been a gamer since the first Atari and I am still a gamer today on modern consoles

My comment wasn't agreeing with the original comment anyway, just stating what Jonathan Dornbush said and implying that it made me feel old if it was true.
He did. I remember him talking about having to go to his band concert and being unable to find a save point for super metroid and being late to the concert.
Getting up to hit the reset button is great. Helps avoid blood clots and pulmonary embolism (possible death from prolonged sitting).

You can also hold down and Select for a couple seconds to do what the reset button does. Didn't find out until recently.

I'm old enough to have played Super Mario Kart when it originally came out, and I have to agree with the reviewer. It's fun, but it does feel very flat/2D compared to more modern versions. There aren't any hills.

I am almost 34 years old and I love everything about my classic. I grew up with that 4' chord on the nes and snes, and the reset button. One thing you dont know anything about is blowing in your cartridge because it wont read. My tv had horizontal lines going through it, and the console was spliced into the back of my tv. So while you are ranting about the small things, I am jamming to the oldies with a huge smile on my face.

I personally think it would’ve made more sense if using the reset button actually reset the game itself, and then using the eject button would take you to the home menu. The eject button was my favorite part of the SNES console and I’m sad to see that it’s not functional on the mini. (I know that it’s possible to reset the game itself with L+R+START+SELECT but it still would’ve been cool)
If you use a wii classic controller (pro) you can use the home button to get back to the menu ^_^

Wire controllers was a problem sometimes. The wire that connects the controller get loss inside. Mmm and you have to twist it to make the controller work. Wireless is way better
I have no problems with getting up and pushing the button on the console. I used to do it when I was a kid. Just brings back memories for me.
This little system is worth owning. Im glad i snagged one before prices soared online. I also own an original SNES with a bunch of loose games and CIB games. Nothing beats this system since i grew up with it. Nostalgia in one little box!

Regarding the "Have to Press The Reset Switch" grievance, here's a handy shortcut if you just want to reset the game: Press L + R + Start + Select, and the game resets.
As for going back to the home menu, there unfortunately isn't an equivalent shortcut on the included gamepads. HOWEVER, if you're willing to play with a Wii-era Classic Controller/CC Pro, the home button will take you back to the home menu. Given the specialized experience we're dealing with, however, I suspect people will want to play with the most authentic controller possible. In that case there is no way to go back to the home menu without dealing with the reset switch, and that remains a glaring flaw of the device.

Finally just got mine yesterday at Best Buy. They always seem to have what I'm looking for.
I just want them all on virtual console on the Switch so I can pick and choose and take them on the go. Nintendo why. :(

It should be noted that you can reset the games (not the console) by holding L, R and Select simultaneously.

ICharlyl Yes you can, just like you can call yourself a 3D action game enthusiast and not want to try Dark Souls. Having exceptions only means you've refined your palate for what you enjoy.
GnG is really a very unfair game series, not really good. Gargoyle's Quest on the other hand...
I don't think it is unfair at all, obly the demons could be considered unfair because their unpredictable behaviour, everything else is pure skill and learning to play the game is one of the most fun I've personally had in a videogame and I believe is one of the best plaformers out there. what I refer to as " you can't call yourself" is like calling yourself a movie enthusiast and never watching art films, also calling yourself a 3D action Rpg enthusiast and not wanting to even try dark souls for me is a travesty. it is ok if you don't like it, but you have to at least try it to judge, since it is one of the best series in the genre.

While this is a great way to introduce younger generations to this system, I can't help but see this as pure fan service to those that grew up with these games.
As such, he shouldn't be complaining about no modern conveniences.
Back in the day it was the absolute norm to get up and press the reset button.
It was also normal to have a wired controller.
Not once did I even imagine there would be any modern snazzies thrown into this bar the rewind/save states (Which are a godsend for me as I am absolutely trash at these games lol)
Personally the length of the cable was never an issue as I sit pretty close to my 32" tv anyway so its no problem.
I love this system. And I wish I was able to get the NES Classic on time. Looks like I'll have to wait

Ah, this takes me back to when I actually liked Nintendo. Having said that, I was a kid then so that might be why I loved the games. May have to look into one of these though for the nostalgia value, if nothing else. It'll be nice to play both the best Metroid and the best Zelda titles again.

i'd be happy with chrono trigger and marble madness. marble madness is some of the most fun i had with a game as a kid.
Just bought it today. Very happy but what struck me the most: PIXELS. Jeez I totally forgot they used to be so big. It looks very decent on youtube but on my TV...not really (or at least not as I remember). Perhaps it was like much less obvious on smaller TVs when we were young I guess (there were no HD TVs in the first place). Other than that: great library.
A later version would be SNES Classic International. It would feature official localizations of choice import titles, such as Final Fantasy V, Panel de Pon, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, Trials of Mana, Shin Nekketsu Kouha: Kunio-tachi no Banka, Tales of Phantasia, SNES remakes of Dragon Quest I-III (based on the Nintendo Switch translations), Dragon Quest V, Dragon Quest VI, and Bahamut Lagoon.

Rare is with Microsoft. It was almost impossible to have it on the SNES. Chrono Trigger, though, is from Square, and Final Fantasy, which is part of the collection, is also from Square. So sad to see it out of the games chosen for the system...

I think this Noob is too young to be reviewing this. I don't agree with his gripes at all. If Nintendo put all the "modern conveniences" this reviewer thinks should have been included, I think it would have ruined the point of this entire project. I'm happy with the HDMI, The library and longer controller cords. The rest is all a matter of opinion.

If he wants modern conveniences then he should use the wii pro controller. The home button works the same as the reset button.
It's true, its a very easy solution for many previous Wii owners (myself included) but they could at least put a button combination in to do a manual reset like (Start+Select+L+R+A+B) or something like that.
At the same time I don't get why everyone is so bothered by this, how often are people game swapping? Once I put a game on I often find that I am at least in there for an hour or so before I need to reset.

I bought a switch for my girlfriend and I for Christmas and she just got an nes classic for her dad which will be accessible to us and I got a snes classic for Christmas. I'm stoked as hell.

Actually there is a reset function via the controllers. I read somewhere you can press L+R and another button to reset.

Sega genesis classic just came out too and the cartridge port works, so I can play my old games. Not having that here is a major mistake by Nintendo.

To be honest this should have had like a Nintendo Play store on it so you could at least buy more games on it it's not like Nintendo wouldn't make money on it
Next time SNES Classic Edition is released, Trials of Mana would be added. Also, there should be popularly sideloaded games such as Chrono Trigger. The Super Famicom version of Dragon Quest I-III would also be localized for it using the translation from the Nintendo Switch version.
I pushed the home button on my Wii Classic controller and it resets the console. If you’re missing the convenience of “extra buttons” you certainly don’t have to use the SNES classic controller or get up off the couch to reset the system. A classic Wii controller adds analog sticks and It even works when plugged into the second player port, so, you can literally us it as a remote “reset” button for the console. BTW, I hacked my system, so, I’m not sure if I added this functionality or if it was already available out of the box, however, Nintendo’s website says that various controllers are supported and the Wii Classic Controller is supported.

I thought this reviewer did a nice job. In fact, the two games I thought would have been ideal to include, but weren't, were NBA jam and Chrono Trigger. Young or not, this kid knows his stuff.
Anyway, I got this for my son for Christmas and he loved it.

There may not be any input lag on the controllers, but there is certainly lag caused by the cheap upscaler built into the SNES Classic. It's too bad it couldn't have line doubled it's way to 720p (3x 240p) rather than upscale.
The NES Classic was the same way and unfortunately even the relatively small amount of lag made it nearly impossible to beat Punch-Out!! on that, while it was much easier on the AVS FPGA based console.
I really think you are supposed to put it on the floor or a coffee table infront of you and use a long HDMI cable / power extension cable (if needed).

Original Mario kart is still the best, everytime when we play Mario kart with my friends we always play the original SNES version. The Gamecube version is boring and the Wii version is god-awful, and I don´t have Wii U or Switch.
