  • Wait until you see this original #42 Marty Robbins 1969 Dodge Daytona NASCAR! This piece of NASCAR and Country Music history was built from an original 1968 Hemi Dodge Charger. Although Marty raced from 1966 to 1970 in over 66 races, he ran this particular car in the 1970 series in 22 NASCAR races and took several top five finishes with it. This car was restored by NASCAR Legend Ray Everham and his team, who all personally signed the car. This beauty is now owned by Don Phillips who owns all the Woodies Wash Shack's in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. This bad boy boasts an original Ray Barton built Dodge 426 CI dry sump engine and has in excess of over 700 HP. It will run the oval at top speeds of 200 to 210 miles per hour. It has the super rare "bathtub" intake, a 1050 Dominator carb, long tube headers with 3" exhaust, basic electronics, original distributor/coil/alternator, manual steering, single cylinder manual brakes, gear driven tach, cowl induction, 4 core Mopar radiator, and a racing ATL fuel cell. She sports an original Mopar Hemi 4-speed, a hydraulic clutch, the original Hurst shifter, which is attached to an original Mopar 8 3/4" floating big bearing rear end with 273 gears, and a rear end cooler. Believe it or not, the car still sits on the original 1968 Dodge Charger frame and has dual adjustable shocks all the way around. The sparce racing interior has the original racing gauges, a manual helicopter safety belt sinch, the original Charger seat adapted to racing, and no safety window net, as Marty just didn't like it. It includes Marty's original racing jacket and a reproduction helmet. The all-metal exterior is painted a custom yellow and chartreuse, has the front fender brake cooling scoops, 2-piece custom made wheels, pinned metal trunk and hood, original Mopar glass windshield, original rear bumper, and the famous adjustable rear wing, which is secured to the frame by safety cables. You'll also hear several racing secrets as we share this one-of-a-kind NASCAR. Oh, and wait until you hear it run!!!

The one and only "Twentieth Century Drifter". Such a gifted entertainer and a funny man at that. Hearing his voice since I was about 5 or 6 years old. My Mother's one and only favorite singer. Thank you for sharing.

I wish that they would have mentioned that the car was originally built by Cotton Owens in Spartanburg, SC. My dad actually helped some at the shop and got to meet Marty Robbins several times when he would come in to discuss preparations for the next race. He was a very down to earth man and very humble.

A lot of people forget that
That wasn't just his name as a sponsor:
but Marty actually raced in some NASCAR races back in the early seventies.
In addition to touring and making all kinds of money

Back in 1970 I had a friend that his uncle was part owner of a Dodge dealership, they had a Plymouth Super Bird on their Showroom floor, after so long of that car sitting there, they had to move it out to the outside car lot, I was told because the car is longer than a station Wagen it took up to much floor space , And most people in that time had a single car garage and that car could not fit , it was just too long. Also, it did not sell well because there was a Gas shortage going on at that time and people were selling their so-called gas-guzzlers to get cars that got better mileage. Boy did the people miss the boat on that one. Glad I was one that did not care about the miles per gallon that just meant more 100 octane for me. Just a little fun fact.

I owned this car and had Ray Evernham restore this carl for me. Many of the “facts” mentioned here are incorrect.

I never knew Marty raced a Daytona. Super cool. I’ve only ever seen the 777 cars. Side note I’m an open face helmet guy too. Not a fan of my face being enclosed

A big Hemi in a wing car doesn't get any better. The sound on fire up of the engine you could truly call that rolling thunder.
