This is a song about the Corrida - what happens to the bulls pushed into the ring to face "these little dancers". The song is to protest against bull fighting, written from the point of the bulls. It's such a sad song. You should know that these "little dancers" put vaseline in their eyes so that they can't see straight. They have spears pushed in their sides and lose a lot of blood. Must say that whenever these "little dancers in their fancy pants" get a horn or two and are thrown over, I cheer.
I have goosebumps every time i hear it.. Lyrics are 90% of the song.. You should go deeper into it.. The bull is telling the story of how he sees the corrida, from his perspective, asking himself if this world is serious.. Feeling so relieved once his head is hitting the sand, when this painful torture and agony finally comes to an end.. It' s heartbreaking. The bull is surprised to see so many people cheering from his suffering, how can we have so much fun around a grave.. Is this world serious..

Hi Dereck. Unfortunately and sadly, bullfighting is something very traditional, popular and big in my home city in southern France near the Mediterranean, Nîmes. It's the only thing I do hate about the whole place that I like a lot. I wish they could use our beautiful Roman amphitheater for concerts only, but not for bullfighting that needs to be abolished as cruelty that belongs in the past. Tradition doesn't account for everything, otherwise there'd still be gladiators fighting to the death or Christian prisoners torn to pieces and eaten alive by lions.

Hi Dereck, Francis Cabrel is my favorite french composer and singer, his songs was wonderful, its a french genius of music, please listen another splendid songs of him, he sing a masterpiece "je t'aimais, je t'aime et je t'aimerais" it's so magic, "sarbacane", "petite marie", "animal", "hors saison", "octobre", "la dame de haute savoie", "la robe et l'echelle", "te ressembler", "tout le monde y pense", "samedi soir sur la terre", its so beautiful songs too of this magnificent french singer.
I love to watch you discover some of my favorite songs, especially when I know that "that part" is coming later and that you're going to love it :) Works with a lot of songs you've reviewed so far.
This is one of my top 5 favourite french songs in the world, so happy you reacted to it! (The others are Fete de Trop by Eddy de Pretto, Mistral Gagnant by Renaud, Je suis un homme by Zazie, and Veiller Tard by Jean-Jacques goldman) The lyrics are also masterful!
Ho my I'm so happy to see you give some love to this song, it is such an emotional journey every time I hear it. Thanks and I hope you will keep it in your playlist :)
Hi Dereck, always good job ! Congrats ! From Francis Cabrel, you must try "la cabane du pêcheur", great song, with a little taste of Dire Strait ! And after that, you have to discover Henri Salvador, an old french crooner with latin influences, with an amazing and beautiful voice ! Unfortunatly gone now... And start with "Jardin d'hiver", you will enjoy
Cabrel puts himself in the place of a bull entering in the arena of a corida. It is a song that denounces the practice of this tradition in the south of France and Spain.
What is really genius about this song is that the lyrics are from the "Torero" (La Corrida Bull) point of view and what it thinks about this brutal game. A total masterpiece 👌
Probably my favourite song by Cabrel. This song still sounds "fresh" because this butchery still is topical unfortunately. The melody is wicked but the lyrics are even more, so powerful/ spot on...singing this song from the bull's perspective was such a great idea, as it's exactly what it must be feeling from start to finish. I've always hated bullfighting and still cannot understand why such an appalling tradition carries on existing in some countries (including mine) and I'm proud that such a popular artist here in France had the courage at the time to openly express his disgust through music...Bravo Francis. PS: Dereck, please react to his old hit "Encore et encore". ;)
What I love about this song is that you are looking at the corrida from the perspective of the animal. We hear, smell, and feel through the bull who is experiencing the absurdity of a situation. It makes us think about the animal lack of understanding of the purpose of the corrida. That's genius. The music transports you through Andalousia.
A song against corrida. Another song with the same subject "les toros" de Jacques Brel. " Les toros s'ennuient le dimanche quand il s'agit de mourir pour nous" Nice day 🎼❤️🇫🇷
Oh the beautiful door you've opened with Francis Cabrel ❤ loved your analysis of the song, such a sad one when you look at the lyrics. Keep reacting to him please.
The corrida with the bull's point of view ! Francis Cabrel is coming from southwestern France, not so far from Spain. Corrida is popular in Spain and some cities in the south of France (Arles, Nîmes, Béziers, Dax, Mont-de-Marsan, Bayonne...)
As I've never been into bullfighting, I took years to understand the part about the torrero woman sleeping on "her" two ears (in french, its impossible to distinguished between her and his, when it's on plural form) I thought he was twisting the expression (sleeping on one's two ears meaning having a peaceful sleep) and saying she'll kinda be so much crying that she'll have to push the pillow against her ears to finally find sleep. But then I discovered that in traditional bullfighting, the custody is to cut the ears and tail of the animal. And then this sentence took all its meaning, the bull here is saying she will sleep on HIS two ears.
Thank you Dereck ! One of my favourite singer, one of my favourite song. After that I can close my subscription to your channel... No I am joking 😂😂 I still follow you for other songs of Balavoine, Cabrel, Goldman, Daho, Gold, Nino Ferrer, Claude François, Voulzy and so many others ! 😉

You see well through him. He is a very humble man. The lyrics are beautifuls (ho and I enjoyed your reaction till the end 😉)
I cry every time I hear this song ! Stop corrida.
Good music but important lyrics!
Yess ! La corrida is one of Francis Cabrel classics. I was sure you would like it Dereck. 👍🎧🎶
Magnifique 🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺
The Spanish vocals in the end are sung by Nicolas Reyes, singer and guitarist from french band Gipsy Kings
Thank you so much for this MASTERPIECE. This song is against the Corrida... this is a cruel game with a bull and a fucking toreador... Lyrics are stunning...😢😢😢
One of my favorite songs 👍😍 thanks for your reaction
One of my Fav Albums.
With that type of song you NEED to have the translation Derek ! This is poetry.
OMG love Francis Cabrel!!!
One of his best Album "un Samedi soir sur la Terre", all songs are so beautiful
The best song of Francis Cabrel his C'est écrit ! ...but that one is good !
One of his best songs (there's many!) Cabrel is very good at writing songs from a different perspective (in this case, the bull is telling the story). It forces you to see things in a different way and make you think...
This song... ♥ I'm so glad you're finally reacting to it !
I've watched him play it live in Nîmes, the bullring, it was spectacular.

Works with a lot of songs you've reviewed so far.

One of the best of Francis. He sang it in Spain during one of the "festivals". So who had the best bullocks ? Great respect to him.
My favourite song from Cabrel 🎶

This album is fantastic and especially this song
This is one of my top 5 favourite french songs in the world, so happy you reacted to it! (The others are Fete de Trop by Eddy de Pretto, Mistral Gagnant by Renaud, Je suis un homme by Zazie, and Veiller Tard by Jean-Jacques goldman) The lyrics are also masterful!
This is his best album ! I bought it when i turned 20 😅😢
So many emotions for me , merci dereck 💙
“Murs de poussière”, “Hors saison” and “Bonne nouvelle” are other Cabrel songs I personally love.
Ho my I'm so happy to see you give some love to this song, it is such an emotional journey every time I hear it. Thanks and I hope you will keep it in your playlist :)
Love it
Chanson qui me rend triste. Je déteste la corrida
The corrida but, through the bull's eyes
Hi Dereck, always good job ! Congrats ! From Francis Cabrel, you must try "la cabane du pêcheur", great song, with a little taste of Dire Strait !
And after that, you have to discover Henri Salvador, an old french crooner with latin influences, with an amazing and beautiful voice ! Unfortunatly gone now... And start with "Jardin d'hiver", you will enjoy
The lyrics are actually a description of the bullfight by the bull _ Great song
Très belle chanson
Cabrel puts himself in the place of a bull entering in the arena of a corida. It is a song that denounces the practice of this tradition in the south of France and Spain.
What is really genius about this song is that the lyrics are from the "Torero" (La Corrida Bull) point of view and what it thinks about this brutal game.
A total masterpiece 👌
You mean from the bull point of view...😉
Francis ❤❤❤❤❤
Je l’attendais ^^ 👍
Probably my favourite song by Cabrel. This song still sounds "fresh" because this butchery still is topical unfortunately. The melody is wicked but the lyrics are even more, so powerful/ spot on...singing this song from the bull's perspective was such a great idea, as it's exactly what it must be feeling from start to finish. I've always hated bullfighting and still cannot understand why such an appalling tradition carries on existing in some countries (including mine) and I'm proud that such a popular artist here in France had the courage at the time to openly express his disgust through music...Bravo Francis.
PS: Dereck, please react to his old hit "Encore et encore". ;)
Merci 🙏🙏🙏😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩💐💐💐💖💖💖
Francis Cabrel, Brel!!!, Balavoine, berger, Gainsbourg !!!! Bashung!! 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
I don't know if u have the translation or not, cause lyrics are very importants with FC, more than music wich is basic in general
🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵 Merci Francis !!!
I love SO this song ! Soothing music vs. heart-touching lyrics.
" Les toros s'ennuient le dimanche quand il s'agit de mourir pour nous"
Nice day 🎼❤️🇫🇷
Oh the beautiful door you've opened with Francis Cabrel ❤ loved your analysis of the song, such a sad one when you look at the lyrics. Keep reacting to him please. Some ballads:
Octobre
Petite Marie
Je t'aimais, je t'aime, je t'aimerai
Hors Saison
C'est écrit
Greatest song ever
I love Francis Cabrel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The corrida with the bull's point of view ! Francis Cabrel is coming from southwestern France, not so far from Spain. Corrida is popular in Spain and some cities in the south of France (Arles, Nîmes, Béziers, Dax, Mont-de-Marsan, Bayonne...)
Thank you Dereck.
You should definitely listen to "Il faudra leur dire". Cabrel used to sing this song with choir children.
Encore et encore
Je t'aimais je t'aime et je t'aimerai
Francis Cabrel
You CANNOT look into French music without looking at Francis Cabrel discography, period !
YESSSSSSSSSSSS 🙌🏻 Thank you Dereck!!!!
