Pour La Femme Veuve Qui S'Eveille (1983) : For The Widowed Woman Who Awakens, a kind of exeprimental music, World Music. You'll like it! Very 80's: synths, etc.... A 5 minutes special song! 😉

You gonna love STARMANIA .. with France Gall and Daniel Balavoine .. lot of amazing songs in this show .. Continue Dereck we support you from France 👍👏😘😘
Hi Dereck ! So interesting to see how you instantly appreciated that song as somewhat of a joyful song, because of the upbeat tempo, the strong vocals, and the rich instrumentation... while the passion in this one comes from absolute desperation. This is probably one of his most tragic songs. We french are so familiar with the lyrics that we forget the genius of the contrast between the content and the music. It is a bit sad though that you can't totally grasp the beauty of his writing... you would love his work even more ! 😉
"Dieu que c'est beau beau" ( Big Hit on Radio till this day.) I love the fretless bass sound in this song and the 80's synths. "Pour la femme veuve qui s'éveille"❗❗(Crazy synths ahead of its time with superb finish..)Love the african singing at the End💖.
Dereck, now you are my favorite one... I asked you to react to this song so many times... THANK YOU!!! I love this song, I love the lyrics, I love his voice.... I never heard anyone make a cover of this song, and you know why? Because he's so high all the time that nobody can sing it... A friend of mine knew him, they were friends and he still cries thinking about him... He told me he was very shy... When they were going to dance, he was always at the bar because he was afraid to dance, the girls were looking at him all the time but he was so shy he never talked to them... He was a really nice person, real, always saying what he thought even if it was not what the others were thinking... He wrote and composed this song and then became famous, after "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" written for him... When he became rich after all the beautiful songs he wrote and sang, he gave a big part of his money for Africa to create more places for water... He was engaged, nice, had lot of humility... A big lost for us... Daniel, we miss you, you're still in our heart, for ever. Thank you Derek, really... Love 😔💝

Balavoine will remain in all memories. He was so sentient and so engaged. "Petite Angèle", "Sauver l'amour " and more and more... Ich and, of course, the songs from the Musical Starmania... Thank you Dereck!
Thank you for that reaction, Dereck. Daniel Balavoine is definitely one the most talented french artists ever. So, I won't recommend to you a song because any song you'll choose will be great anyway.
It's really interesting how this song starts with a second-degree, almost ironic tone, and progressively slips into tragic, and ever more so. The tragic and megalomaniac dream was (probably) supposed to be a mirror of his times - how worse do we stand nowadays ? This sort of lyrical construction is very reminiscent of David Bowie, to me, or La Maison Borniol by Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine.
David Bowie was not all that good in my opinion! This guy Daniel is a much better singer and I don’t understand the lyrics, but enjoy this song with much more enthusiasm than any of Bowie’s!
OMG !!! You listen This song 😍😍😍 So happy, because it's the first one I remember from him and this is so ... exactly the reality ! Thank you so much dear Derek (again) for your work of discovery and your open-mind and kindness 😍😍😍💐💐💐

Salut Dereck. Thanks, you are brigging back memories. That might be one of the first song I remember trying to sing myself. Such a hit at that time. Same with Hôtel California...
First sorry for my bad english and all my writting errors. You know Dereck, in France he's a clasical singer of our childhood, i always loved his songs and you are rigth his songs are full of energy, passion and new sounds for that time, but the most powerfull are the lyrics and the themes. He was more than a singer in our country, he chose to be the voice of the youg people to the politics and he spended a lot of time with NGO to help poor people for exemple. His life was as full of meaning and fights for the weakest, just like in his songs, he was a very good person. I'm truly happy that you discovered his work, it's diamond.
Thank you for doing this! That was so interesting watching your reaction. I mean as french people, that was pretty cool to hear about your opinion. Thank you for sharing your experience with us 😉
"He is going to give me a heart attack" ! Very happy to see Dereck appreciate this treasure of composition, instrumentation, vocalization... Try "Dieu que c'est beau" or "Pour la femme veuve qui s'éveille" or "Soulève-moi" or "Petit homme mort au combat" or "Un enfant assis attend sous la pluie"...
You're hilarious and so intense. I think this is the reason I'm watching your videos. I'm getting old and when listening to old song and past hit, with you, it make it so funny. Life is a circus....let pass the clowns.
Have you also noticed the difference in tone in the voice as the singer becomes more professional in the story? I think that's a really great part of analyzing the song. At the beginning it is perfectly sung for everyone, afterwards the voice is more precise. Monsieur durand is like Monsieur jones. it's mister everyone who is having a party at his place. Thank you for appreciating this gigantic song in my opinion. Good luck to you dereck, I really appreciate your work.
First song of his (after Starmania) that was really successful. It's a fantastic song that describes the full career of a "typical" singer, from humble start to fame to decline. A perfect arc. The lyrics are like all Balavoine lyrics: in your face, strong, powerful, impossible to look away. A gem. I still know it by heart.
I LOVE your energy and as a very mediocre musician, I have to say, you have a freaking good ear and you catch the thing right away. People like you amaze me since the conservatoire and to this day. Thanks for being interested in French pop music and reviewing it so well. I send you all my good energy across the ocean. Merci !
🙏 thank you so much Deck, Daniel Balavoine is such a great artist. Thank you for sharing his music, can you try "Aimer est plus fort que d'être aimé" and the cover by "Christine and the Queen", she is amazing 🙏 thank you for your channel
Thx for your reaction, and yes, he killed it live! The other songs he killed live, where energy, words, music became one, were "Frappe avec ta tête" and "Revolucion". You´ll be surprised about these live versions of these songs!
This is actually a song he wrote on a train in 30mn 1hour tops! Considering the lecture this song is, it gives the right tone about how he felt, so basicly everything he sings in this is what he feels really
a very nice melody, a very thoughtful instrumentation, a text in "punch mode"; all with a rare "energy" at the time; the 1st hit of "Daniel Balavoine"; very deserved other titles to test: - "born to be alive" by Patrick Hernandez "video kill the radio stars" by the buggles; after this unique hit the singer became a producer of hundreds of international super mega hits "laisse moi t'aimer" 1st title by Mick Brant for the context Mick is Israeli, he learned this song in phonetics, before recording it, since he does not speak French at all
In 1978 , Daniel Balavoine was not successful. There is no hits , in his last records . The famous producer , Eddie Barclay wanted to fire him quicky. So , Daniel took a good pen. It was HIS LAST CHANCE. He wrote " Le Chanteur " for . . . Eddie Barclay. He sings what he wants to do , in his singer life. "Le Chanteur" is his first "tube".
He even famously said that if that track was a success, he would do Daniel a bl***j*b... So after it became a success and Daniel did his first concert, Barclay went to see him backstage, and Daniel asked him for the promised favor ^^
What an AMAZING song I cannot stress that enough! Man was genius, what shall be my next Balovoine reaction?!!😱

You're hilarious and so intense. I think this is the reason I'm watching your videos. I'm getting old and when listening to old song and past hit, with you, it make it so funny. Life is a circus....let pass the clowns.
We told you it's a masterpiece ^^
All the song off Daniel Balavoine are a real stories who make u feel so much different emotions
T'es le meilleur Dereck!!!
YES ! You dit it Dereck, my favorite track from Daniel with " Tous les cris les SOS " . I love you Hermano :)
Merci !
Daniel Balavoine - Dieu que c'est beau!!
You'll go bananas
Magnifique Daniel ! Merci Dereck
Lucie, a beautiful song by Daniel Balavoine amazing voice
a song that we still listen to with happiness and enthusiasm. the words are crying out for truth.
"petit homme mort au combat" a powerful song too
“SOS d’un terrien en détresse » from Starmania... Crazy vocal ranges on this one!!!
Pure Genious
I love your reactions dear Dereck really you're so cute 🥰🥰😊😁
daniel balavoine is the greatest french voice ever, and the lyrics are amazing...
The most beautiful, emotional, sad song of Balavoine is: "Partir avant les miens".
It is not the most famous, but it is just beautiful.
🙏 thank you so much Deck, Daniel Balavoine is such a great artist.
Thank you for sharing his music, can you try "Aimer est plus fort que d'être aimé" and the cover by "Christine and the Queen", she is amazing 🙏 thank you for your channel
Il me manque 🥲
I live your react..
I'm french .sorry for my english..
This is our star..,die too late for us...
Thx for your reaction, and yes, he killed it live! The other songs he killed live, where energy, words, music became one, were "Frappe avec ta tête" and "Revolucion". You´ll be surprised about these live versions of these songs!
Revolucion donne des frissons !!
@@franckgrandis4354 Oh oui!!!!
This is actually a song he wrote on a train in 30mn 1hour tops!
Considering the lecture this song is, it gives the right tone about how he felt, so basicly everything he sings in this is what he feels really
a very nice melody, a very thoughtful instrumentation, a text in "punch mode"; all with a rare "energy" at the time;
the 1st hit of "Daniel Balavoine"; very deserved
other titles to test:
- "born to be alive" by Patrick Hernandez
"video kill the radio stars" by the buggles; after this unique hit the singer became a producer of hundreds of international super mega hits
"laisse moi t'aimer" 1st title by Mick Brant for the context Mick is Israeli, he learned this song in phonetics, before recording it, since he does not speak French at all
Daniel Balavoine is the best ❤❤❤
Une super analyse
masterpiece!!!
