I'm an American Muslim, and these two brothers are exactly right when comparing UK Muslims to US Muslims. UK Muslims are under much stricter laws when it comes to freedom of speech than the American brothers and yet the UK Brothers and sisters are more courageous. I talked to a lot of UK Brothers on social media and I relate to them a lot more. I think the main reason for the difference is the economic circumstances of Muslims in the US versus the UK, the UK Brothers and sisters come up in much harsher conditions living in less affluent circumstances, I think it does give them a certain fire that US Muslims lack. I grew up in poverty, so I think this is why I don't relate to a lot of US Muslims since so many of them seem to be more concerned with being accepted by the liberal Zionist establishment here.

UK Muslims are not in poverty but more over have had a first generation which is sacrificed its health wealth money and family in establishing madressahs all over the UK and made their kids understand that we live in non Muslim lands but we are Muslims first...
This I think has been lacking in our US brothers and sisters overall who have prioritised careers and wealth creation over deen so find it harder to relate to the ummah and its crisis.

I disagree. Galloways position has been consistent and comes from a non-Sectarian, secular perspective. We may not agree with it but he sees the real malevolent force in the Middle 😮East is Israel/Zionism, the neo-Liberal axis & extremist Jihadis like ISIS and what has happened is blow to the ‘axis of resistance’ and the Palestinian cause whilst the betrayal of the agreement between Turkey, Russia & Iran and the rebels does boost Israel with its destruction of Syria’s military infrastructure and its increased occupation of Syria’s land and water resources. Turkey has never fired a shot in anger at Israel, neither have ISIS.

On the topic of identity I think there is much good that we can take from the dominant/ local culture whether that be American or British but there is also a lot of good that we can take from the culture of our parents and forefathers. There is also a lot of bad that we can take from the dominant/ local culture as well as the culture of our parents and forefathers. I believe the best identity we could hold in this context is one that is a hybrid between dominant/ local culture and the culture of our ancestry. Muslims who successfully become hybrids, adopting the good from both sides will excel in the east and west and become the leaders of this Ummah.

    DISCUSSION SUMMARY AND NOTES
    Meeting with Al-Jolani in Syria
The prophet Muhammad said that whoever builds a mosque for Allah will have a similar house built for them in Jannah, and the reward will fill their grave after death 00:13.
Dilly Hussain, a journalist and chief editor of Five Pillars, recently visited Syria and met with HTS leader Al-Jolani, describing the experience as "eye-opening" and the people as "jubilant" 02:42.
The foreign fighters in Syria, including those from Europe, are generally part of HTS, a prescribed terrorist group under UK law and the UN, but there are efforts to review and possibly de-prescribe the group 05:34.
Hussain stayed in local places and hotels during his visit, including in Damascus, where he met with Al-Jolani and observed a different vibe with many international journalists and diplomats present 07:04.
Al-Jolani's leadership and behavior, including walking around without protection, may be a display of legitimacy, but critics argue that he may be an agent placed by the Americans and Israel 08:02.
Hussain met with Al-Jolani for an hour and believes that the truth about his intentions and role is likely somewhere in the middle of the extreme interpretations 08:18.
Al-Jolani is described as a statesman and leader, not an American agent, and has been preparing himself to lead Syria, evident from his diplomatic responses and ability to host high-level foreign dignitaries 09:19.
    Rebel Faction Preparations and Success
Between 2019 and 2024, the rebel factions have been preparing militarily, morally, and spiritually, learning from past mistakes, and unifying their ranks 11:08.
The rebel factions have been producing domestically manufactured weaponry, such as UAV and Shaheen drones, and have been using drone warfare and artificial intelligence in their operations 11:13.
The Syrian Arab Army was largely propped up by foreign reinforcements, including Iranian militias and Russian air power, but ultimately decided not to fight, leading to the rebel factions' success 14:01.
The rebel factions used sleeper cells, or resistance groups within regime-held cities, to attack from within and weaken the regime forces 15:13.
    Al-Jolani's Leadership and HTS
Al-Jolani has stated that the Syrian rebel factions are not like the Taliban, and that girls' education is not an issue in the Arab world, particularly in the Levant 17:04.
HTS (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham) was the most formidable and successful faction in gaining territory, despite being part of a larger operation funded and trained by the UAE in Jordan 18:07.
Al-Jolani, the leader of HTS, is difficult to read, but he gave the impression of being a shrewd and high-IQ individual who is acting in a very clever manner 20:02.
Al-Jolani stated that going to war with Israel is not a priority right now, instead focusing on unifying Syria, consolidating power, and reestablishing state institutions 21:23.
Some of Al-Jolani's close associates expressed frustration that people expect HTS to achieve in 11 days what Arab regimes have not done in 50 years, and that they are being held to a different standard due to their Islamist ideology 22:12.
Al-Jolani's approach to dealing with Israel was seen as pragmatic, but some critics felt that he should have been more assertive in his criticism of Israel and shown more solidarity with Palestinians 23:11.
The priority for HTS is currently National Unity, strengthening Ministries, and consolidating a Law and Order in the land they have gained after 13 years of bloodshed 24:58.
The Syrian National Army and Other Factions
The Syrian National Army is propped up and funded by the Turks, and there are various rebel factions, including the Kurds, who are resisting and holding on to their powers and lands in the East 26:40.
The main priority for the rebel factions is to consolidate their ranks and form a new National Army, rather than fighting Israel, especially since 80% of their military capabilities have been destroyed 27:32.
    Divisions in the Pro-Palestine Movement
There is a split in the Pro-Palestine movement, with some individuals, such as David Miller, George Galloway, and Scott Ritter, being criticized for their views on Syria and their use of dehumanizing language against those who support the Syrian Revolution 28:25.
David Miller has been criticized for saying that Syrians need to "get over" their defeat by Bashar Assad, which is seen as disgusting and insensitive to the suffering of the Syrian people 30:50.
Some individuals, such as George Galloway and Scott Ritter, have been accused of using dehumanizing language against those who support the Syrian Revolution, and of ignoring or downplaying the crimes of Russia and China 32:30.
Critique of Certain Individuals and Their Views
There are no permanent alliances with non-Muslims, as the nature of kufur is inconsistent and can change quickly 35:04.
Some individuals, such as George Galloway and Craig Murray, have made statements that are seen as contradictory or hypocritical, particularly regarding their views on Syria and the Syrian Revolution 35:42.
The idea that Iran's presence in Syria has helped the Syrian people is disputed, as Bashar al-Assad has been accused of doing nothing to prevent genocide despite Iran's presence 38:24.
The supply lines from Iran to Hamas in Gaza are also questioned, with some arguing that it is geographically impossible for Iran to provide significant support to Hamas 39:34.
The left and its allies are not permanent, and their views and actions should be approached with caution, especially when it comes to their views on Syria and the Syrian Revolution 40:58.
Some individuals, such as Ahmed, have been accused of making outrageous lies and should issue apologies before being taken seriously 42:38.
HTS, Iran, and Muslim Communities in the US and UK
HTS (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham) has moved away from its transnational element and now has a more pragmatic approach, similar to the Muslim Brotherhood, under the leadership of Abu Mohammad al-Jolani 43:37.
Iran's stance on Palestine has been effective in creating a certain sentiment around the cause, but its actions in Syria have been counterproductive, and it needs to understand that it backed the wrong side in the conflict 47:09.
The speaker disagrees with Nal Khan's statement that American Muslims are 30 years ahead of British Muslims in terms of Islamic activism and community values, citing the strong and active Muslim community in the UK 48:44.
The speaker believes that American Muslims' lack of conflict between their American and Muslim identities is a problem, as it may indicate a lack of critical thinking about foreign policy issues and America's involvement in the Muslim world 50:07.
Muslim communities in the US and UK have different socio-economic profiles, with American Muslims generally being more affluent and liberal, while British Muslims are often working-class and more conservative 51:28.
There is a stereotype that American Muslims are more liberal and willing to compromise on Islamic values, while British Muslims are seen as more sectarian and conservative 53:08.
The strong American culture and patriotism can make it challenging for Muslims to maintain their identity and religiosity, with some assimilating into the dominant culture 55:23.
Feminism and liberalism have a significant influence on American Muslims, particularly women, which can lead to doubts about Islamic teachings and values 56:42.
There is a need for a more courageous approach from American Muslim leaders in addressing feminist and liberal ideologies, rather than acquiescing or appeasing them 58:17.
The US has more lenient free speech laws than the UK, allowing for more open criticism of ideologies, but American Muslims are not taking full advantage of this freedom 58:34.
    Personal Experiences and Reflections
The speaker discusses the importance of being prepared for confrontations and obstacles in life, drawing from their own experiences in secondary school and the UK environment 59:23.
The speaker praises Americans for their marketing and funding of da'wah projects, noting that they have deeper pockets than the British and Europeans 01:01:04.
The speaker shares their recent experience in an MMA fight, which they won by TKO in the third round, and discusses the ruling on whether MMA fighting is halal or haram 01:01:41.
Personal anecdotes are shared about the positive impact of martial arts training on children, including increased confidence and a sense of empowerment 01:28:16.
The speaker's approach to Islamic rulings is to opt for the more challenging position, as seen in their personal experience with prayer, but to also consider the empowerment of the Muslim community in subsidiary matters 01:29:36.
Grappling skills, such as Jiu-Jitsu, are beneficial but not enough for self-defense; striking skills are also necessary for a well-rounded defense 01:31:27.
The importance of being able to defend oneself is emphasized, with the idea that it is more important for a man to be able to protect himself than to have a degree 01:34:49.
The speaker believes that men who cannot defend themselves are blameworthy and that it is a greater priority for a man to be able to fight than to have a degree 01:33:18.

      MMA Fighting and Islamic Rulings
The speaker cites a hadith that advises against hitting the face, but notes that a prominent scholar, Fazl, has allowed sparring and competing in MMA as long as certain conditions are met 01:02:14.
The speaker mentions that Fazl is considered one of the greatest scholars living today and has a high level of Islamic learning, having memorized the Quran in two ras and graduated from a prestigious madrasa after 17 years 01:05:02.
The speaker notes that there are pre-existing fatwas from scholars of the Hanafi madhab that indicate a minority view allowing for hitting the face in certain circumstances, but emphasizes that the majority opinion is to avoid hitting the face 01:05:31.
Scholars from various schools of thought allow car insurance despite the majority opinion considering it Haram, as it provides convenience and ease for Muslims 01:07:54.
The need for Muslim men and women to learn martial arts and combat sports as a mechanism of self-defense is acknowledged, especially in light of heightened Islamophobia 01:11:06.
The criticism of pay-per-view theatrics in combat sports is discussed, with some arguing that competition makes one more competent, but others finding the build-up and showmanship to be Haram 01:11:35.
The distinction between two kinds of Islamic rulings is made: those with clear reasons and those without, with the example of praying four times a day being a ruling without a clear reason 01:12:10.
The issue of what makes an action Haram is discussed, using the example of intoxication and how it is defined in Islam 01:13:01.
The question of at what point a sparring session becomes Haram due to the number of people watching is raised, with the argument that there is no clear evidence in Islam to support the idea that the number of spectators makes an action Haram 01:13:25.
The criticism of striking the face in combat sports is acknowledged, with some considering it Haram, while others see it as necessary for self-defense 01:14:28.
The psychological element of combat sports is highlighted as a crucial aspect, with the issue being the appropriateness and ethical considerations of the sport rather than its permissibility in Islam 01:14:48.
      Islamic Activism and Combat Sports
The discussion revolves around the appropriateness of Islamic activists engaging in combat sports and sharing their training videos, questioning whether it's for encouragement or personal reasons 01:15:35.
The speaker reflects on their own experience with combat training, initially doing it for personal reasons, such as self-protection and confidence, but later deciding to share it publicly to encourage others 01:20:33.
The conversation touches on the idea that combat sports provide a unique transformative experience, building resilience and confidence, which cannot be replicated by other activities 01:21:07.
The speaker believes that knowing how to protect oneself is essential for masculinity and that, in the absence of mandatory conscription or military service, people may seek alternative ways to fill this void, such as combat sports 01:22:32.
The importance of self-defense is emphasized, with the view that a man who cannot defend himself is not considered a man in Islam, referencing the Prophet's mention of cowardice as a negative trait 01:23:09.
Combat sports, such as MMA, can be beneficial for Muslims as they provide a way to develop self-defense skills and confidence, which is essential for protecting oneself and one's family 01:25:27.
The approach to Islamic rulings should consider the best interest of the Muslim community, and in the context of combat sports, the ability to defend oneself is seen as a necessity in today's world 01:25:41.
Future Plans and Support for Organizations
The speaker mentions that they will be busy with fundraising and events during Ramadan and expects to have more international assignments in 2025, visiting countries with significant political shifts 01:36:48.
The speaker's organization, 5 Pillars, will be involved in fundraising and events, and donations can be made at 5pillarsuk.com 01:38:03.
Key interviews with influential people, such as leaders in Afghanistan, Syria, and Bangladesh, are crucial for creating valuable content 01:38:28.
Five Pillars and Sapience are among the organizations doing important work and appreciate support 01:38:56.
Establishing a masjid and dawa center in Norway is considered a significant deed, and donations are encouraged to support this effort 01:39:32.

I wanna before giving my view, thanking you for all your efforts in general, you've been a help for the entire muslim community.
About the punching thing, you're mixing arguments here, no one denies the necessity to train and have physical experience to protect his relatives, that goes without saying, so you're putting words in their mouths that people never said.
The point is about 1- mainstreaming punching in the face, while you could just say train MMA / grappling / other martial arts (any martial arts if invested into gets you know how to defend yourself, even aikido, they just need dedication for a long time, which people lack nowadays)
2- the competition part, which brings more harm than good, you'll inspire young people to compete as well, and not everyone is as wise as you and know how to deal with the matter, men are reckless by nature. You could occasionally post a video about you training, and it would give a healthier influence on people. (Wajdi Akkari does it with basketball and practicing sports in general)
3- About you contradicting the cultural norm in the muslim community. For exemple, a muslim can marry a female with the age of 12 as long as she had puberty and supposedly ready physically and mentally etc ... But in this time and age, she's still considered a child, there is harm in marrying her as it breaks the عرف cultural norm. You're doing the same here,
The "not appropriate" part the brother in syria made is spot on. You're not a normie like me and others, you're a muslim daee that has high influence on people.
I have 2 advices for you brother:
ONE ==> keep people disagreeing with you (about punching, acting, freemixing, etc) near you, don't have a clique that all agree on the same issues, it's far healthier having close people disagreeing with you.
TWO ==> reconcile (or try to as long as you live) off screen with other daees, at least to a degree of mutual respect, with Saajid, Abdurrahmen Hassan, Abu Mussab, Shamsi, Faaris, etc. You've been friends with some of those in the past. Insulting and boycotting each other is unfit of brothers in the deen, and all of you have benefited muslims in similar and different ways.
I am not saying to work or collaborate with them, but as fellow daees, I think behind closed doors you should have a respectful relationship, even if you critisize each other publicly for public blunders, it should be a respectul critique, indeed to have a good influence on the muslim followers ^^
May Allah guide us all and keep us on the straight path.

Ahmad Alshara stated that the operation had been in preparation for years, with the decision made 1.5 years ago, waiting for the right moment to act. Türkiye initially expressed skepticism, fearing it could lead to instability, but was reassured that the operation would remain limited in scope. At the time, the regime was already crumbling, and its allies-Hezbollah, Iran, and Russia-were beginning to withdraw their support.

@55:50 No. American Musilms are comfortable with American identity informing them because the social contract with America on paper (freedom of religion / protections under the State etc..) are far more conducive to the personal practice of Islam than anything in the UK. Second, there is a very tiresome patina on the UK British Muslim identity that takes on the Mawdudi-esque hardline us vs them attitude. That is not necessarily the case in the US. Even this chat, talking about 1:00:00 how tough you had it in the UK is getting a little old. I grew up on a council estate and moved to the US as an adult. Life, and your upbringings are not tougher in the UK. Go talk to the Somalis in Minnesota and DC, the Bengalis in NY, recent Afghans in CA - they are struggling in a way that is foreign to you with a few urban cuts and scrapes. And I grew up on the toughest estate in London. Honestly, be a little more rigorous: If you are going to analyse the mindset of American Musilms, then ask what blind spots you might have sitting in the UK forged in the narrow British immigrant 'bubble' that you sit in talking about other people's 'bubbles' Love you guys, but this was a bore.

hitting the face in competition is clearly haram - no matter how you spin it - the most eloquent prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was very clear and no matter how you big up the qualifications of a mufti it can't make haram halal. most street fights statistically include knives - boxing won't be much help there. i have trained mma many years and no need to punch hard to the face or go competion

Can understand the fatwa of striking when training. But what’s this striking in competition. So it’s ok to have a mma fight with someone and potentially kill them or severely injure them for no reason at all. What if they are Muslim. What’s the ruling in this - no details just happy got a fatwa from a big scholar - will that scholar be the one responding back to Allah to justify why you killed someone for no other reason other than u wanted to be tough. What about making money from this? Details please.

I've never heard it being pronounced 'bachlawa' 😂
Yet again I also thought I might hear anything critical here about you know Al Baghdadi's ex no. 2... responsible for countless atrocities.
You should be ashamed of yourselves, Allah gave you your own faculties yet you don't seem willing to use them. Yes Syria is happy to be rid of the cruel Assad dynasty but I can assure you (we syrians) are not as hyped about the prospect of being ruled by people once in al nusra, affiliated with isis etc.
Not mentioning the dialectical context (i.e who backed who) and just hyping up people who would enter the Khaled Ibn Walid mosque with Ak 47s and other guns. You people are the crudge of what you always praise as 'the ummah', you only weigh down. May god have mercy on us all.
Judging terrorist by their 'vibes' this would be embarassing if it wasn't so sad and infuriating.
