- The Canon 1D Series represents some of Canon's most advanced cameras ever. They are typically big, expensive, and packing as many features as possible. However, how good was Canon's flagship camera 14 years ago? Today, we shoot on the 1D Mark III to find out.

Giving this its 100th like. Great video & music tracks. I’m a Nikon guy and love the D3S, D3X, & D700. Hoping to try a Canon 1D Mk4 some time.

I was using a lav mic! hence why you can hear and wind... but it was unfortunately obscured by my thick jacket and i didnt realize until later :/

Actually the EOS 1D Mark III was one the biggest flops by Canon, was notorious for its AF issues because of misaligned submirrors, 45.000 units were recalled, the launch of the Nikon D3 didn't help either.
i did not know that. i heard about the AF issue actually, but still, its quite the beast considering what its been through
As you said they did a recall and fixed the problem, the camera wasn't a flop many professionals used them
They released what batch numbers had issues, so if anybody buys pre owned they can check to see if the camera they’re buying is all good. It’s a fantastic camera for the money these days.

@@mikey5985 type in canon 1D mkiii fault batch numbers and you should find it, then when you buy a camera, the batch number is on the bottom, most places selling take a pic of the bottom of the camera or state the batch number in the description, hope that helps.

Put a EF 70-200mm L lens on it and it gives everything. 1D Mark III/IV and 1Dx are still the real machines and can not be compared to any other Canon DSLR.s.
I have a cheapo quantaray 70-300 on a canon 1Dx now and its awesome! I still have the 1D III but i converted it to full spectrum for capturing 550nm infrared
Well, it depends. If you are shooting portraits under controlled light situations, the original Canon 5D has never been surpassed when it comes to skin tones rendering. The Canon 7D Mark II offers SO much for such little money. The Canon 10D was the best-feeling, sturdiest prosumer DSLR body ever made by Canon, the Canon 300D was the first really affordable DSLR body ever, etc., etc. Cheers.
@@CarlCummins-rs3om but why do people get a 5D? Because its full frame, taking full advantage of the lens and lighting. If youre going APS-C, id go for a MILC and speedbooster for the best portraits.

Hey im not sure to get the 1d mk iii or the canon 5D mk ii. They're both around the same price and i do alot of low light photography and weddings. In your opinion, which is better?
5D
this, get a 5D II all the way. It's newer, can shoot video, has more megapixels and has a full frame sensor. Unless you really care about durability and burst speed, it would be good enough
The 5D mkii 100% for weddings and low light. I own one and it’s amazing. I’m buying a 1D mkiii for sports photography though as it’s stupid cheap for such a capable piece of kit.

I haven’t been able to use anything larger than a 32gb so card. Am I missing a setting?.
no, unfortunately cameras this old only support SDHC formats which max out at 32gb. a 64GB compact flash card should work though.

I’ve been shooting a Nikon D3X for nearly 4 years with a lowly 16GB limit on CF card. I only thought to update to the most recent firmware a couple of months ago. It now takes 64GB CF cards.
The Canon 1D Mark III shoots 10 frames per second. The Canon 1Ds shoots 3 frames per second. And, why the heck would you throw a fine camera like that in the snow, anyway?!! Cheers.
If it helps, that camera is still one of my best shooters today. I converted it to full spectrum and it makes some beautiful infrared photos!

None, it came body only. I used a Nikon 35-70mm with an adapter for the sake of testinf
