Thank GOD they were rescued. I heard of a similar story where unfortunately ppl weren't able to help the driver, a 16 year old kid. The flames got too big and they all had to back up and literally watch a 16 year old burn to death.
Amazingly that piece of wreckage metal didn't crack it. I keep one of those window breakers in my car console. Also has a cutter blade for the seat belt. Only a few bucks.
I'd love to know what the highway worker used to break the window. I also have one of the hammer type window breakers, but they do not work on newer cars with laminated windows, only on older cars/trucks with tempered windows. But, it looks like the way that window blew apart, it was probably a tempered window, thank God. If it had been a laminated window, I'm afraid they would not have been able to save him.

Just amazing! This is the type of news story we need to hear more of. Wonderful and inspiring. They all deserve medals. :)
