      Small world. I just looked at your channel. My son works in Hutchins and drives this truck there a lot.

    That truck looks pretty sweet. I generally like what Clay has done with it. That paint job has a lot of orange peel and overspray, but overall I actually like the look of it.
    it's not exactly a truck I would buy used (I like it when I can find them as original as possible) but I bet Clay loves it, and you can tell it's his baby the way he takes care of it and puts so much time and effort into it.
    It's refreshing to see someone who care for their belongings like that.

    Awesome!!! although I’m not a fan of flat beds the way y’all are building this one with the sides and tool boxes is going to be awesome!!!

      It still has a ways to go but it is shaping up nicely. Needs a front bumper and some new wheels and tires.

    I have a 1 ton 1978 on 44's It needs a frame off ( all the way) . long story> You got me wanting to change it from Chrome yellow to chevy orange now

    • @matthewrandall6320

      It was either lime green or the bright orange. Orange won. It is a head turner, especially when that turbo is whistling. It has been repainted a second time, by a shop this time. It now has about a 6" lift. New rims and new tires. It looked good before but now it is amazing.

    I was wondering how cold Montana winters work for turbo starting?

    Thinking about doing a similar rebuild on my old 6.2. What kind of transmission are you running? Auto, manual, 700r4, th400?

    can i ask what fuel pump you are using if you are using the mechanical pump location for the oil return?

    • @matthewrandall6320
      @matthewrandall6320  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it is just a cheap Holley electric pump. Yes the oil return is on a plate at the old fuel pump location. Works very well. We did blow the fuse for the pump when we submerged the truck in mud. When we got it out of the mid we just put in a new and it worked fine.

    • @matthewrandall6320
      @matthewrandall6320  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correction on the fuel pump, it is a Carter. It is mounted behind the right head light by the Fuel Filter

    Hey man I only just found your build on TH-cam. I was thinking about doing the same thing but I didnt know if it was worth it. I know you wanted to change Freeze Plugs anyway but would I gain enough power to warrant me ripping out a perfect running 6.2?

    • @matthewrandall6320
      @matthewrandall6320  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really brought this truck to life. It has more power, guessing around 250 to 275hp. It doesn't sound like much but compared to the little power it had before it is a big difference. Gets better fuel mileage now too. Around 22 mpg.

    • @matthewrandall6320
      @matthewrandall6320  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @edwardseaton9447 it's still running strong. It's a low mileage engine so no need to do anything with the bearings. If or when it gives up it is gonna be replaced with a 5.9l Cummins

      Diamond Eye Exhaust for a 93 K3500. It has to be modified a little because of the different frame widths.

      Matthew Randall do you have a link to it? I have an 85 k5 with the 6.2. It has the original brass radiator. I might have it cleaned/repaired but just want to weigh my options. Was the eBay radiator a direct replacement?

      No need to. Since that was done a rogue 18 wheeler tire took out the passenger door. Every little dent was removed and the entire truck was repainted by a paint shop. It looks perfect now.
