    Just finished watching the your pinch technique with 12mm grass the weather here is warming up just nicely, heading of the the man cave to do some static grass.
    Very glad to see you are recovering

      Once you get into the Pinch & Stab "Static Grass" method it becomes easy and addictive! Have fun.😁

    I love me some proto-lance. Wow that run-down building by the overpass has so much personality, it's just screaming "MODEL ME" LOL. Airbrush fades and texture paste. Man it's gonna be good. Let's name it "Run-Down." It deserves a Street Label. Maybe a police cruiser sitting and watching 🚔. So much potential. Hope you heal up quick - Bill.

    You can just hear the excitement in your voice at the prospect of building that car park, what might go there? What kinds of cars? That's the fun!
    I built my first 'proper' scratch built low relief building this week too - using plastic components as apposed to printed out textures.
    It's nowhere near your level of perfection,but I'm pleased with it for now.
    Cheers!

    So often I don't get just good technical/technique advice from your videos, but like *philosophy* about model trains that's even more important.

    I think that wooded ridge scene is so special that putting anything between it and the overpass is a distraction and detracts from the scene.
    Sometimes restraint is the toughest challenge.

    • @williambryant5946
      @williambryant5946 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe put the overpass at an angle making it look as if it disappears behind the wooded area and put the building he is talking about on the other side.

    I see this was filmed before weathering your fingers. :) Looking forward to the next scene! - Paul

    You sure found a good candidate for a good scene. The story-telling in weathering alone has loads of potential. This will be a joy to watch develop. But first your injury needs some time. Hope it's itching a bit already, that's a good sign for healing. Best wishes!

    Also, boomer, I'm about to invest in getting a real nice laser cutter for my own trains. let me know if you ever need anything laser cut, it's a scratch building super tool. I'm just over in Victoria and happy to mail some flat-packed "kits"

    imho, I like the overpass at a slight angle, gives it more movement. Would look good trompe l'oeil-ed into the distance.

    WOW Boomer, ‘Freelancing a Prototype’ just wow! Why didn’t I think of that? I use the term ‘Protolance’ for mine, but I’m more Freelance leaning on Proto! Thanks for adding your comments on Tuesday!

      @boomerdiorama  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ralph. I always enjoy your perspective and skill when it comes to weathering. Your accomplishments are obvious in your work.
      I also like the way you model "other" subject matter as well ( I do the same). Everything adds up in the end to make us better model railroaders. Cheers.😁

  • @williambryant5946
    @williambryant5946 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your attempt has been very successful so far for me. I think the overpass should be angled in a way that you can use this building and scene to help hide the road on the backdrop like the road goes around behind it and that's how you can work around not having to paint a road or have a picture on the backdrop that shoes the road going straight back.

    • @boomerdiorama
      @boomerdiorama  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have to build another overpass for that.

    Hi Boomer ,
    Just thought I would ask how is your hand healing up ?
    This reminded me when I was a kid, my dad was a cabinet maker and would make furniture for my mum and he would use hand tools eg chisels which where razor sharp and would slice through paper .
    I came home one afternoon and noticed him sitting in the car I asked my mother what was wrong , she replied that he had sliced his hand opened.
    My mother handed me a bottle of scotch and sent me back to the car , I stayed with him for the rest of the afternoon , never forgot that.
    But he never lost any fingers , not like his work mates who would lose them through the circular saws back then there was no guards.

    • @boomerdiorama
      @boomerdiorama  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking. Finger is healing well. I watched my dad stick his hand in a fan belt by accident once while tuning up the car. It was nasty. It broke his pinky finger when it sucked it through the pulley . . . ouch. I drove him to the hospital - no whiskey . . . lol. Cheers.
