Glad you had a fun trip! I'd forgotten about the washout on the C&W rail grade :/ We were camped at the north end of Whatshan lake the night before you got there, you must have missed us by only a few hours :)
Great narrative through the ride. I found it very instructive, especially having done similar paths like this on my GS (and having recently suffered for it!)
@@DirtChimps Bruised ribs. Already much better. The irony was I was told we were doing the big bike friendly route. Had I known they changed their minds (or got mixed up) I would have taken the little CRF.
@@mattguzzim1744 Shucks. Sorry to hear about that. Bruised ribs can be one of those that nag you everywhere. I hope it was not too bad. I think you would agree that communication about anticipated difficulty is important! I certainly have felt misled by others who said they were going on a big bike ride, then I show up on a 990 Monster and they show up on 500s. Geesh!
Nice to have a map knowing it's permitted to ride there. I haven't lost too much time detouring washouts and farmland, but I'm always prepared to camp. I think I could do this on my '79 can-am Qualifier with a fuel cell.
I doubt I'd ever be able to skip the old rail bed from Christina Lake to Castlegar on my bike. Looking at your tracks, you were able to make it all the way through? Last August they had a huge washout just south of the provincial park that they were fixing; I am glad to see that it appears to be fixed already. Thanks for sharing, Scott!
@@DirtChimps the one at 19:36 looks to be something else. But if there was another one, most likely. Man, now I want to go camping out there this weekend.
Love your rides!! And that section at the 14:00 min mark looked like a 4 for a GSA. The camera doesn’t show the real view. Well done! Would really like to hear more of your play by play in your videos on what your body position is in when it gets “Spicy” etc. Maybe even your choice of riding modes on the GSA. Keep the great content coming. Very inspiring content which presents super well.
Interesting ideas. Riding mode is always Enduro Pro when offroad. Never though about it much. I suppose I could share more about what I am doing technique wise. I'll give it a try in an upcoming video. Thanks!
A lot of effort and time to film and edit this content and I think they have earned the right for some self-promotion. Also interesting to learn about the features they are offering and working on for an app that appears to offer unique value for the adventure community.
@@paul.vanhout57 some? It’s multiple times every video the last dozen I’ve watched. Maybe some are maybe some aren’t but I’m not interested in switching apps. Perhaps a dedicated TMA channel where it’s expected.
I have added 4 amazing routes to the GPS Exchange in the last 48 hours. It would be a shame for people to not know how to find them, how it works, etc.
Love that rail trail! I’ve done it in both directions, not a super fast trail but lots of cool features! Loving the drone shots too!!! 21:37
Thanks for bringing us along, Scott. Love the commentary as usual.
Wonderful route and bravo for tackling those 3’s with the GSA👍
Wow. That section from @09:23 - well done.

Oh, that's so wild! Would have been neat to have seen you out with your pedal bike packer buddies! You guys are cray!

Oh dear! The thought of going down on this bike is really scary for me to think about. I hope all is well with you.

I wonder if that is the stream crossing area? It looked rather disturbed and recently repaired.

Now I know all the things my GS can do that I will not be doing with it😂
Congrats on taking the big white whale on trails that 98% of GSs will NEVER see!
Is TMA primarily a Canadian based app for navigation?
Is that a dent in the tent on the right side near the seat? Any cool stories about how you earned that?
No dents, just marks from my riding pants on the tank. At least that is what I am guessing that you are seeing. :P
@@DirtChimps Dang, was hoping for a gnarly off story haha.

@@DirtChimps personally, I love that you do share them, particularly for those on your GS as they better match me and my skills on my africa twin!
