It has been a long time since I saw game devs actually listen to fan feedback so much. Even attempting to make a Heroes game which H5 and especially H3 fans will aprove is a brave act. This game really looks like it was made with a great passion and care. Thank you for giving us hope.
When they started showing the fog of war settings i was thinking "Wonder if they have included the starry night sky like the og" I was not disappointed

This is lovely, and very reaffirming to see. I small detail I loved in both HoMM VI and VII was that some heroes had custom character models on both the world map and in combat.

I really like the game and I think you have stepped right and well, because it is awesome. Heroes is a game from my childhood and seeing it come back gives me great hope and joy. Especially part 5 is my favorite, so I'm glad you're considering that too, along with part 3 of course. Thank you and I look forward to the release of the game. I am realy big fan.

Day/Night Cycle looks gorgeous! When I first saw this game announced I was cautiously optimistic, and figured I would pick it up on its 1.0 release like I do with most early access games, but the love and passion you guys have for this game and its community has made me a true believer in your team. Great devs are those which make games for the players and not themselves (although not mutually exclusive). These devs listened to feedback and acted on it. Therefore I must conclude they are great devs. I rest my case.

All those changes truly show how you care, and that you want to be true to what Sven Vincke said during TGA, that a game is great when the developers want to play it c: Yet still I'm begging for making distinction between large and small units! (Not only for climate, but also to add new depth to positioning on battlefield and maybe addition of skills like pikeman stopping charging large units next to them or something :D ) Keep up the great work!
Looks good. I hope the day and night cycle gives some kind of an advantage/disadvantage to certain factions, but not necessarily to all factions. Another thing that heroes 5 did right, but didn't quite do well enough, are the non-spell active skills on might heroes. It still felt like you had to learn magic to do well, despite being a might hero. What if you added stamina? Might heroes get more stamina points, but still some mana points, while magic heroes get more mana but still some stamina points? Mana will be used for spells like usual, but stamina will be used for tactical manuevers on your troops? A tactical expert (or only might hero?) can issue commands that can fx make a unit attack an adjacent unit without losing it's turn, or make a unit be in defend mode and give it a defense boost like a buff, or maybe make it so that the unit can overwhelm on the next attack (attack with no counter-attack) or prepare for a counter (attack the attacker first before being attacked). Maybe a might hero can freely make an archangel cast resurrection outside its turn or move a unit in front of another unit to block it. The barbarians in homm5 had a skill that could attach the hero to a unit, so that the hero always attacks alongside a specific unit. That is a brilliant idea that should have been available to all might heroes and should be a skill that a might hero can learn just like a magic hero can learn a spell. Basically the might hero can make the troops do stuff, so the might of the army scales based on the strength of the army as well as attack and defense. The magic hero can make all kinds of supernatural stuff so their might scales based on their mana and spell power. The magic hero will perhaps be stronger in the beginning, but will still be relevant with crowd control skills in the late game, whereas the might hero is perhaps the more powerful the bigger your army (which makes sense to me). When a wizard can wipe out an entire army it loses it's fun. So might heroes can cast buff-like skills on friendly units (war cries to put negative buffs on enemies?), make units do things outside of their turn, make mechanical traps on the battlefield and maybe a couple of physical attacks from the hero itself with some added effects. Magic heroes can cast positive buffs on friendlies, negative buffs on enemies, deal massive direct damage with spells, heal and revive troops and summon units and other supernatural things. Balancing things will be difficult, but at least it will feel a little different to play a might or magic hero, and it will give the player way more things to do with a might hero than going oh I need to learn magic or else I'm screwed or there really isn't much for my hero to do during battle. Just a friendly suggestion. I would love for this game to succeed.
What I like so far : - Back to hexagonal battle grid -Easy to read adventure map -Back to the world of Enroth -Inspiration from HoMM3 with elements from more recent HoMM games (2 possible unit evolution like HoMM 5) -new insect demons faction before the avent of the Kreegans on this planet seems interesting What I like less but will do with it : -Only 6 factions to start (hope they are really well themed with big gameplay difference from each other) What I dislike the most: - High fantasy cartoon mobile game graphics More realistic and darker graphics would suit the might and magic franchise much better in my opinion What I hope : -Not too much focus on esport, hope to have great solo campaign and lots of scenario maps + map generator -No Ubisoft Uplay internet constant connection -hope for good lore connected in some way with heroes 2 and 3
This is awesome ! As a gamer, I feel connected to the whole HOMM saga in some special kind of way: My dad first introduced me to gaming with HOMM1 back in 1996. From there it was our thing, we'd play multiplayer or I'd just watch him play and being super good at it. Same was with HOMM2 and, boy when HOMM3 was out, we've spent countless hours playing it together. I still think it's one of the best video games ever. After HOMM3 the franchise went down imho, with the devs trying to "innovate" an already almost-perfect game, it never felt the same. With Olden Era, you guys seem to understand what we, old school players want from a new Heroes game. My dad is now 60 and when I showed him the first trailer of Olden Era, his eyes lit up with hype and some nostalgia and he said that we can finally play Heroes together again, just like we did when I was just a kid, 30 years ago. For that, I can't thank you enough !
It would be awesome if you made the map similar to how it was in 7. Like how there was elevation in it with mountains or ditches on the map. Anyway awesome update video keep up the good work!
Ah, I feel young again. Some of the features I'm looking forward to is the Grail puzzle subquest, map editor, and competitive balance that pushes you to check player statistics at the tavern and adjust your growth priorities.
The day and night cycle is probably the most exciting. It's a great way to vary up the map for relatively low effort. Just make sure to make the night part feel distinct, especially with lighting (like adding extra light sources on objects during the night with torches etc.) and it can make the same map feel very different between day and night. But assuming turns are still days, will it just cycle independently of the turns on a separate timer? They already experimented with a day/night cycle during the development of Heroes V, but it ultimately didn't make its way into the game.
I think it would be really cool to make it an option for all units to have more than one type of attack, for example the standard one and another when they gain morale, or a spell to improve a unit, it would definitely break up the monotony of combat animations or when updating a unit the attack to change.
What I and big quantity of "veteran" players seem to think, is that the graphical style is like any another mobile fantasy game - childish, bright and colorful with too many effects. Heroes II & III were much more classical, dark and elegant. I see there is a risk to ruin the legacy by choosing this current graphical style, and ending up releasing a game that could be just any other cheap fantasy game for mobile devices. I wish the developers plenty of patience and luck finishing the game properly without too early release with flaws and errors. Thank you for listening your community.

As a suggestion you could try to implement some forced town battles: E.g. you can only pass a gate/teleporter/bridge while controlling a certain town. If you add different choice buildings (town defense/ creature growth/ hero stat upgrade) which would bring additional tactical choices in town building. Happy new year to all of you 🎉🎉🎉
Some of the best memories that I have are playing Heroes of Might & Magic with my father & grandfather. I started playing HOMM 2 with them when I was 6. In case you forgot, that was the game with the broken ghosts, haha. I now have a 5 year old son. I am so excited to recreate these memories with him and his grandfather. I wish the developers the best of luck in recreating this epic series. 😊
I am buying the preorder 100%. The way you guys work with community is amazing, and shows how much you care for this game. I don't even care if the game will end up being the best heroes ever or not. You guys are such inspiration for me- a beginner game dev.
I complained about bleeding skeletons and the weird fog of war. Not saying I'm the reason for the changes because a lot of other people had the same concerns but it's nice to see they're listening. No idea if this game will be good but I wish them the best of luck.

I'm very excited for the game, but I have two concerns. First - it looks a bit like a phone game, especially the battles; idk, maybe the contrast between the terrain and the units should be more defined. The second concern is greater, however, namely - if Ubisoft declares bankruptcy, what happens to this game?

i hope you will suport it long term after release with more factions ando other good stuff (dlc or addon)
Some of the best memories that I have are playing Heroes of Might & Magic with my father & grandfather. I started playing HOMM 2 with them when I was 6. In case you forgot, that was the game with the broken ghosts, haha.
I now have a 5 year old son. I am so excited to recreate these memories with him and his grandfather.
I wish the developers the best of luck in recreating this epic series. 😊

Nice!!! Next update PLEASE do 2 hex units, dragons look tiny here (Take one hex), make them 20% bigger - Dragons, hydras, etc :) Cant wait to play!

I don't even care if the game will end up being the best heroes ever or not. You guys are such inspiration for me- a beginner game dev.
I complained about bleeding skeletons and the weird fog of war. Not saying I'm the reason for the changes because a lot of other people had the same concerns but it's nice to see they're listening. No idea if this game will be good but I wish them the best of luck.
Could we have like faction units inside town screens walking or just being there? Would make the town screens more lively

Вера в вас, ваши силы и этот проект растет с каждым новым материалом! Я безумно счастлив что восьмая часть попала именно в ваши руки! Конечно у многих ностальгия является доминирующим чувством, но я вижу столько офигенных решений, что на данный момент для меня это самая ожидаемая игра 25 года!
Из личных пожеланий, надеюсь на введения врожденных разных режимов карт, как тот же ауткаст или карты-головоломки. Уверен что у вас это выйдет отлично!
А так же ещё немного персонального восторга, а именно ЖИТЕЛИ ГОРОДА! ГОРОДА ЖИВЫЕ, В НИХ ХОДЯТ СУЩЕСТВА! Я очень сильно надеюсь что по мере отстройки жилищ существ по улицам города будут ходить всё больше и больше разнообразных существ. Любим, верим, спрашиваем как задонатить!
I'm very excited for the game, but I have two concerns. First - it looks a bit like a phone game, especially the battles; idk, maybe the contrast between the terrain and the units should be more defined. The second concern is greater, however, namely - if Ubisoft declares bankruptcy, what happens to this game?

I'm loving what I'm seeing. My only beef is that the Tower faction does not seem to be present.
I'm crossing my fingers for a Nintendo Switch version eventually. I want to play this when I travel.
Please can you add in 3 upgrades for each creature tier 1-3? With some cool variations. Thanks love this!
