    "Cripes, I can't remember the solo. Oh hell, I'll just play the one from Stairway To Heaven. Nobody will hear it anyone over this racket."

    • @islipperyfellow6487
      @islipperyfellow6487 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahahaha. But it was very much intentional. Both songs share the same chord progression so it was a nice nod to include his own legendary solo to pay tribute to Jimi's legendary solo. If only Page wasn't drunk. But to be fair to him, everyone else seems just as drunk as he was.

    • @1glassMilk
      @1glassMilk 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have an idea that Page used the chord progression of Hendrix All Along The Watchtower for Stairway To Heaven. Hendrix All Along The Watchtower was in the sixties and maybe even after the biggest and most praised guitar solo. And I guess Jimi was the most unique guitar player. After his passing it was an open field for other bands. I think Page intentionally took the chord progression to show that he could also do something like Hendrix. To put him in the same category.
      The comment above shows how this song and Stairways end chords are almost similar. I wonder why Page does not say it came from Hendrix.
      Another song that possibly influenced Stairway is Child in Time. A song that is also in a minor with a speed up tempo and a huge guitar solo.
      And off course there is Spirit with Taurus. The whole mood of the song is similar to the intro of Stairway.
      I am pretty sure these 3 songs are the influence songs of Stairway. Or maby another older song that we don't know of. I heard once a classical piece with some kind of guitar that even had part of the intro melody. So it's probably 4 songs that influenced Stairway. I am sure because I kind of know how Jimmy Page works. He often takes elements of other songs and or almost leaves it that way or changes it a bit.

      +Jaquelin Estrada I think maybe it was the best one to jam where theres lik 10 guitars and stuff. Any other song might have been a bit more complicated, idk really. But I see what you're saying. Also, maybe the songs were not allowed cause the Jimi Hendrix estate is owned by his step sister or something and the rules are all strict about what songs can be played in public and what not. Yousaf Bokhari - Jimi would have shaken his head and done that trademark laugh.... "Sometimes it ain't so easy, 'specially when your only friend walks, talks & looks like you & you feel just the same as him."
      Jimi always did Dylan proud. It's a shame it couldn't be done for him.
      I was thinking the same as you before I scrolled down to the comment section. You nailed it. 'Nuff Said!

    I thought Neil Young did a great job (excepting forgetting a line later in the song), when his mic would actually be set to pick up his voice, though never set high enough. He gave it the attitude the song requires.

    • @ToppNDP1
      @ToppNDP1 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neil Young greatly sucks. He was fine in his start with the foursome, but as a solo act? No thanks... I can think of a whole pile of other names I'd rather see. He was just a good butt kisser, and in many walks of life, that's all you need to MAKE IT.

    • @BazWaffle
      @BazWaffle 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Top Notch If you look across his career he's always done whatever the music told him to, whatever vibe he got he would just do it..I think that's how the best music is created, in the moment. He started off in Buffalo Springfield, then went solo and THEN went with CSN, he is in no way shape or form a 'butt kisser' - he's one of the only ones who's stuck to the music. His voice is unique and I personally think he does a real good version, after all the song was written by Bob Dylan, a particularly similar artist?

      Keep the negativity out of these comments this video was honoring the legend Jimi Hendrix. Every creative musicians knows you never play a song note for note unless you wanna be a copy cat and a cover is your intentions. They were there to show love and have this creativity to tribute to Jimi.
