- The first episode of my new series where I discuses and go over all the different home media releases of Dragon Ball Z.
Today we take a look at the first release from Pioneer on VHS and DVD - บันเทิง
The Funimation individual discs will always be the definitive way to watch DBZ, if only we could live in a Universe where we had season box sets for the OG dub.

@@GabePickles3837I'm stuck on deciding if I wanna buy this pioneer/funimation dvd collection off ebay. Has the Saiyan, Namek, and Frieza sagas all for $160. You think its worth it? Has anyone watched these on a modern tv to see how they look? The 30th anniversary and Steelbooks just have to many things off that I know will distract me from enjoying the show. Plus I need the Falconer score as well. Ugh if only they would just invest the money on completing the level sets. Its what we all want. Blu ray with proper colors and film grain with Falconer but that's a pipe dream at this moment.

Correction but the Funimation singles did not have the movie theme. The DVDs from the Captain ginyu saga to the Frieza saga still used the Ocean Rock the Dragon intro, while the rest of them contained The DBZ theme composed by Bruce Falconer. The movie theme would not be used for the series until the Orange Bricks that came out in 2007 and would be used for subsequent releases
The Philippines batan qaioupo edition has the theme it was edited by Carlo and coco Martin

I remember getting my cell games box set and then never seeing another dvd for it again except for the last one randomly.

I lived through all of it every release since 1997 I was 10 years old at the time I remember the horrible nightmare of Funimation releases they just never could get it right.
Correct. I loved the Ocean dub of DBZ & bought the tapes. The show sucked with the Texas voices. Thankfully, FUNimation is dead April 2, 2024!

I didn't start collecting the single Dragon Ball Z sets, because I was collecting wrestling videogames, Pokémon videogames, and Digimon videogames. Plus it was expansive and I didn't see them in a commercial when I was a kid. Until in late 2002, my very first Dragon Ball Z merchandise was Dragon Ball Z: Budokai on the PS2. The next decade in the 2010s, I started to collect my Dragon Ball Z DVD collection in August 2013 with Dragon Ball Z: Rock the Dragon set. Now I did watched Dragon Ball Z (alongside with the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT) on television since my childhood through my teenage years back in September 20, 1997 through April 16, 2005.

Dragon Ball Z Captain Ginyu Double Cross DVD Uncut there are two versions of that disc they don't have the same episodes but different covers there's also another one
Dragon Ball Z Trunks: Prelude To Terror (DVD, 2002) there are two versions one with 5 episodes and one with 3 episodes the case is different on the back and something on the front but if you get the wrong DVD you will be missing a couple of episode such as the z warriors prepare and gokus ordeal which was released on VHS but on DVD there were only a couple of DVDs that contained the 5 episodes instead of 3 there is also rivals of the babidi saga they are two different covers
I have them all and i dont care if they are harder to find now but there are a couple of versions of this single dvds that you should know If you wanna collected the whole series prepared to paid 500-700 dollars easily if you get them used in good condition or 1500-2000+ dollars if you want them in almost brand new condition its your choice
@@Pedro-qm1of Yeah the whole prelude of Terror and Double Cross thing is weird. I believe they are a re release of the DVDs that were made later on

that one took me a year to find it and it cost me like 50 dollars which was a fair price

I found someone who custom made my ginyu ,frieza , & trunks saga box's for the single dvds

I'm pretty sure they first redubbed dbz with the season sets or ultimate uncut singles not orange bricks, but I could be wrong.
The first time Sean or Chris Saban did any of the original lines was in the ultimate uncut as when they came out I bought them and they had a special feature talking about how big of a deal it was to finally get to re-record lines they had heard for years done by someone else even though they had finished dubbing all of it so both of them had been voicing the characters for awhile and they had had several games out at this point.

Damn thats a good find. I remember when funimation was releasing both the singles vhs and dvds when I was kid and they were expensive as fuck lol. My parents only got me the Ginyu Assault tape and it only had 3 episodes
Yeah when I was a kid I went to a yard sale and they had bardock the father of Goku mystical adventure and kid Buu new beginnings and fusion losing the battle on VHS I lost the VHS ones a long time ago I decided to actually get the series and got the orange bricks first and then I said oh Blu ray holds more episodes then I got those then I was thinking what if I search for DVD Funimation singles that are extremely rare so I ordered all of them plus the DBZ movie singles the most expensive ones were the Buu saga right now I'm currently trying to get my hands on the rock the dragon collectors edition to complete my dragon ball z collection then I have to work on original dragon ball
So now I only watch the DVD singles since I prefer those over redubs and I love the Faulconer opening and score along with rock the dragon
So far I’ve only got 38 of the 3 episode dvd singles,, one day I’ll collect them all

1:03 don't lecture ME on what the Ocean dub is, I literally live and breath the Toonami era of DBZ.
1:27 Fun Fact: Ocean Studios were NOT responsible for the censorship of DBZ, the scripts and censorship were done by Saban Entertainment, the creators of Inspector Gadget, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, Samurai Pizza Cats, Sonic Sat AM, and VR Troopers.
Also the Bruce Faulconer intro was F***ING awesome, don't you DARE call that "boring".
Also, the VHS tapes with the OG Funi Dub did NOT use the Zenkai power outro, they used an instrumental of the Rock The Dragon theme.
3:19 the reason why your Pioneer single is in the PAL Region is because it's the AUSTRALIAN/UK version of the DVD, those countries along with the rest of Europe, most Asian countries, Argentina and Brazilian, all use a format called PAL or Secam, these DVDs can NOT play on American/Canadian DVD players, because America and Canada use a formatting called NTSC, Orenji, you are a RETARD!
