This montage of time-lapse photography from the International Space Station is collected from many taken in Expeditions 29, 30 and 31.
The previous sequence, 'All Alone In The Night' ( • All Alone in the Night... ), highlighted night sequences and spectacular aurora light shows and intended to give a feeling of flying through space.
The goal with this sequence was to bring a bit more attention to the station itself, including the humans aboard it, particularly Don Pettit (appearing in the final shot) who took many of the sequences in this montage.

Made it onto NASA's wall :)
Wow. I could watch this all day
The wonderful thing is this shows just how beautiful the Earth and space truly are, and how fragile our planet is. Thank you for sharing these videos from the ISS. And the image of Comet Lovejoy was breathtaking!
Looking at all that beauty I can't believe we
This demonstrates pure beauty of the world thanks for sharing
Another Two Steps from Hell fan . . . great music choice for the video.
I wonder if it's even possible to ever get bored looking out that window at the entire earth below you. I could stare at that all day.
All day. Not all 10 years
Hey they just passed by my house!
they passed by the earth
PM7Gaming that's the point. they passed by everyone and everything that was alive when this was filmed.
Ha ha ha!!!
@@deltawhiskey1529 ikr
the flat earthers need to make a crowdfunded exploration trip with 2 ships going around Antarctica, each in opposite direction. Film it. Another way is to fly over it and film it. Show me that endless ice wall.
+Martin Tõnumaa One of them contacted me once, serious about doing an expedition and he wanted to know if I'd come with him. That was about 10 years ago, nobody's been yet lol?
Martin Tõnumaa They can't because the penguins guard the wall and they will die 😂
No but they put a camera with a normal lens on a balloon and it clearly shows a flat plane. No curvature. No ball. Just flat..
So, here is some footage taken in 1959 - long before computers are capable of CGI - from about 100 km altitude, and you can clearly see the curve:
th-cam.com/video/-O99IH9kbPw/w-d-xo.html
The horizon crosses the full frame without bending, meaning the lens is not a wide angle.
How that helps.
there are other means to achieve the desired effects besides cgi. scale models etc. plus the film looks doctored. and we need to look at footage that is much longer to get the whole picture before making any defined conclusions.
I'm a 68 year old woman and every time I see something like this I find myself totally in awe. We grew up with the space program. Thank you for your great courage. God bless you.
MJ Canfield So you're 70 now?
MJ Canfield This comment gave me goosebumps
Thank you MJ it is awesome inspiring. I think of my Nan who was born in Dundee She died at 98 from a flu. However I think further that how many technological break thoughts she must have seen in her lifetime. Just a few example off the top of my head include global aviation, launching people into outer space, medical advances that provide cures for dysentery, cholera and others, increased awareness of the need to treat all peoples with respect and to acknowledge that dignity is a Universal right not applicable to just some but to all. If you google the United Nations Charter of Human Rights , on which is based Australias Commonwealth Law, you will see many examples of the need to treat all peoples equally. Article 26 states that education is not a right of priveleged few but should be made available to all. This strikes a cordant note for me as I am a university lecturer and tutor, who doesn't really care about administrative policy, rather what is important to me is to provide quality education to all. Have a great day and keep in touch
Cheers

Carrying on the tradition of 1 comment a year, i find that amazing that you are able to witness this today
@@katholikostroll almost one year later...
I wish they were my photos - I just downloaded then from NASA... I don't know the details, but if you were to look up the photos from the EOL site using the sequence number in the description of this video, it might have that detail.
Beautiful editing and music choice. Thank you for creating this.
Silver Money .999 There is no denying that the climate of planet Earth is changing.
***** I like to think I'm slightly better than an automatic slider, but thanks 😊 The NASA archives are simply listed chronologically, so the interesting sequences are often split by other random images.
***** Yeah, I actually wrote some scripts to download hundreds of thousands of thumbnails scanned through them locally. Was a lot faster.
***** Yeah, it did occur to me, but no issues so far. They have redesigned the site since then however, so we'll see what happens next time...
Inspiring, poetic, humbling, exhilarating and if this doesn't ignite your soul.... you don't have one.
+rhumbline Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
It’s faked tho so it doesn’t Ignite my soul😂😂
@@DavidPetersonAUYou're extraordinarily talented. Love this and your race to the stars video on Human Legacy, by Ivan Torrent (I'm a bit of an airhead, so I'm missing the title right now).
@chattywalrus8485 Thanks!
The sheer beauty of our home world is humbling and yet the tragedy of what we are doing to it and to each other is a sad reminder of how far we need to go. Perhaps this little video will be like the picture of the Earth taken from Apollo 8 - in 1968 ... and force us to reexamine ourselves, our priorities, our self importance and our vanity. Thank you David.
I still keep coming back to this one. Thanks :)
Amazing feeling of watching our Blue marble

How the hell are you verified?
@@mrbabbledingThere are other ways of getting verified on YT than just hitting 100k subs…
Years later and I still come back to watch this. This will never stop being one of my favorites David! Thank you for making this!
You're welcome!
Still here for another viewing :)
If I was up there, with nothing to do I would just sit by one of those windows and listen to two steps from hell
two steps from hell? but u r way up in the space
This is beautiful. I want to reach there and help reach farther an an engineer..but fuuuck I just failed one of my exams :"( NOOO!! I'll get there one day!
The fact that they are going to deorbit this beauty in the 2020’s makes me wanna cry...
Programming Carrot now you have the deep space gateway to look forward to
It's been postponed to 2024!!!
its 2020 now.. when will it happen 😫
katt berckley no it’s 2028 and before then they plan to sell it to a private company
Well because nasa has planned for new space station at moon, called lunar gateway, so iss simply not reliable anymore
Always a pleasure to view the Earth from a majestic place high up in orbit. Looks like a sapphire jewel set against the black velvet of space, and with such clarity we can only appreciate. Nice music to accompany the video too. It kind of makes us want to explore more of what's out there and, at the same time, realize how precious our planet really is. We need to look after it for future generations who no doubt will soon be able to make these journeys more easily, and sooner than we think.
Enjoy.
There were no borders.... Just one world.
One could only dream to see God's creation with his or her's own two eyes! What a beautiful gift that must be.
One world, one people, one experience... with the ISS we have become the stars in our own eyes! David Peterson, thank you for this most beautiful video, every person on Earth should see this to give hope and perspective! Peace and love to all!!!!
I finally have a 4k Screen! Time to watch this how it was meant to be watched!
Awesome 😊 I actually haven't even seen it in 4K!
so beautiful but so damaged....
hippie
I cannot give enough likes for this...
Earth : Dam it ugly virus humans you are all eating me!
Mike234 Humans are natural evil. And too danger for the other species. In order to protect the peace of mother earth, we must have a world war again to end of the beginning we have did.
Yellow Submarine That makes you evil and therefor dangerous too. And Earth isn't our mother, it has no heart, mind, or soul. Also try to make more sense when commenting/replying.
MetaKnight964 I hope I can free you to mars now.
This time lapse is better than the one showing the auroras. It's just beautiful.
Notice the thin, fragile band of atmosphere that keeps us all alive. Every climate change non-believer and "science hater" in the world should be forced to watch this time lapse once a week. Then maybe they'll realize how precarious our existence really is and just perhaps will think that we should start acting like responsible stewards of our little blue lifeboat.
Absolutely awesome and Amazing mind blowing view that shows Us how Small We are in the Great Scheme of Things thank you for your beautiful post 👀 💜 👍 👀
My favorite vid on all of TH-cam - good vibes guaranteed, everytime!
Amazing, thanks for sharing
Is all the white area's is glacier island
速く助けたい。
Lately when I see a video like this I scroll all the way to the bottom to read the flat earther comments 😂 so fucking entertaining haha it's like a trip to the zoo
More like a freak show.
Sometimes i go back to revisit this video, how beautiful it is, one of my favorites. More because the author used real NASA photos from the ISS. Can't wait for more videos!
私は、教えてみる。戦争する暇はない!
It is absolutely incredible to see from the ISS what they see. . I always think of the guys up there and wonder how they are living on a daily basis. I was called out of the house a couple months ago by my brother and he pointed up to the sky and said there's the ISS. I had never seen it before... it went right across the night sky. It was awesome to see. I could watch this video all day, too, like someone else said earlier.
That final shot of Don Pettit in his capsule was mind blowing. What a view he has up there!! And he got some beautiful shots. I love the night ones showing all the lights in the world and the stars. What a beautiful video. Thanks for sharing and thanks to Don for the incredible shots!! Now I am going to go watch it again!
私は、教えてみる。戦争する暇はない!

Why the hurry? Do people really have a 2 second attention span? Like 99% of the stuff produced today, the beautiful pictures are ruined by the speed freak edits.
30 people didn't like this???
But why😂❤
I know 😂 it made me nauseous tho.
People with certain beliefs, no doubt.
Great video ! I think we are explorers, in this sense it's important to continue the space program. To build a Moon base, a colony on Mars , in the moons of Jupiter and Saturn . Then in milennia the great leap, a voyage to an extra-solar planet, a new Earth to spread the mankind and other species from this pale blue dot.
Totally wicked David, thank you for sharing this great timelapse
Wow... I just tried Original HD and my graphics card/flash player can not handle it: it stutters while reproducing. So much detail... It is amazing how technology progresses... 5 years ago, most of the videos had only 240 p resolution available...
It´s all a matter of perspective. Absolutely stunning!

Any video from the ISS is worth watching...again....again...and again. They never get old.
Yes. It is incredible to see what they see from up there. Seeing the Earth and Sky is absolutely breathtaking from up there. ~

A really wonderful video footage :)
This is a monumental work. I never thought 2:27 mins could be so powerful. What a wonderful world we live on.

Absolutely stunning David, thanks for sharing. One of the best time-lapses I've ever seen, from a location few will ever experience. I wish NASA would just keep you up there and have you produce more videos, your stuff is amazing.
Me too :)
and there are those who believe the earth is flat lol
And yet there are countless people who think this is all a 'hoax'...
..If you're one of those people.. would you mind explaining what the purpose of such a hoax would be..? Thanks.
Beauty the universe ❤❤
Absolutely fantastic. I love how you synchronised video with audio. Two steps from hell as a background? You're my man. Thanks.

INCREIBLE!! EMOCIONANTE!! LA MAGIA DE LA CREACIÓN DIVINA PLASMADA EN VIDEO. :')
A testament to the beauty of the universe, and to Human curiosity and perseverance which propels us to the moon, the planets, and the stars beyond.
So Beautiful
Why are TH-cam bothering with 4K when their maximum refresh rate is still half the speed of television, which has been 50 & 60 Hz since the 1930's? Apart from that, good work!
Awesome!
+joe m Great news is TH-cam are now backdating old video uploads to 50 FPS. In other words, videos I uploaded at 50 FPS as far back as 2012 are now displaying at 50 FPS instead of the jumpy 25 FPS. Only HD videos though, not SD for some reason.
4k =)
Amazing what we can achieve if we combine our energies together instead of killing each other. Think where we can be and what we can do another 100 or 200 years down the line. High five to all scientists, engineers, astronauts and cosmonauts pushing the envelope in the new frontier. What a wonderful world, indeed. Thank you, spasiva - for this couple of minutes of reflection as we get back to our regular rat race.

I dream about the Earth and enjoy your videos. Loved the soundtrack as well.
looks like a hollywood production, all cgi.
Funny joke
Honestly, It does look fake, not even trolling and im not a flat earther either
Nothing but fake!🌏🔫
Platin thanks for the laugh
That's correct. If there *were* flickering lights and cloud movement that would actually indicate it is fake, due to the altitude and speed of the ISS. I did the math here:
randomphotons.com/alone#clouds
I saw where I live: Çeşme/Turkey.
Next time, wave your hand through me :)
One of my most favorite videos
ABSOLUTELY breathtaking ad the music is magnificent..
You know it's quality content when the guy even put fricking copyright protection on the video!

Oh my god, it's fantastic... and the resolution over 1080p
Ok now, why did the soyuz activate it's RCS thrusters at 1:33 ? Do they have a secret plan to deorbit the ISS?
Edit: Pardon me, it was the progress spacecraft, not the soyuz, didn't notice it
ISS have to keep it's course.
Atmosphere is slowing it down, so they add speed
such science
much byootiful
wow
BUT SERIOUSLY.... WOW
you have really nice videos well done
superb, spectacular, beautiful where do stop. the technology is briliant
Why do they always use fisheye lenses for these space videos? They warp and curve the images- why not use a normal lens?
is it really turning that fast in spacestation's view? can we see some real view from there?
I wish my ISS videos look like this...
This is an incredible video. Thank you very much!
Beautiful, both the footage and camera work but also the world we live in. We should be thankful for mother earth.
Why would you motion blur the city nightlights? for special fx!? c'mon its much nicer the way you REALLY look at nightlights from space!
i'm guessing they were trying to capture those electrical storms... had a better chance by leaving the shutter open for a little while
Consider again that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. "Carl Sagan"

Thank you ISS & NASA for a Fantastic gift!
Breathtaking. Certainly the best office view one could ever hope for.

Really nice, but I find this music quite annoying :-(.
From a distance it is all in harmony. God is watching From a distance
If this isn't worth aiming for then there isn't much heart left in humanity
absolutely hilarious not only is it physically impossible for the whole earth to be the picture as the ISS isnt high enough but they also reveal this in the video to as some of the shots you see how close it really is meant to be lol you cant trust anything NASA is involved in pmsl
Hey there. The shots where you can see the 'whole earth' are simply taken with a fish eye lens.
