I was so fortunate when I found my camper van! It was a 1989 Chevy Chinook with 75,000 mi on it. $5,500 dollars. I bought it off a retired couple who kept it covered all the time. I was living in Washington state then. The interior was almost like brand new. I did have my son take out the lower brown cabinets and he remade them for me out of white material and he also put down some vinyl flooring that was white with blue in it and it matched perfectly!
Two years later but I'm enjoying your videos so much. I'm in Apple Valley MN. Retired in 2020; Hurricane Ian took my Florida home and now I'm looking at vans! Can't wait to watch all your van adventure updates! TFS 😻 Britt
I am happy to say, I just found a 1993 dodge camper van with 107,000 on it ! Ya 29 year old but wow what a nice ride . I’m a retired class B CDL truck driver and a retired home flipper due to outrageous home prices (ethics) can’t do that to people! Vans in good condition for the year I will absolutely enjoy bringing it back to life . Thanks for the videos, you get your point on girl 👈👉lol
Love that wallpaper. New subscriber here 🦘🐨🇦🇺. I have a min bus that’s fully fitted (2012) but all the cabinetry is timber like yours. I was scared to paint it. I’d love it to be white to brighten the inside so I’m going to give it a go
18 MPG is pretty reasonable for a vehicle of that size. My mid-sized Toyota pickup is about the same, and it doesn't have any of the amenities that you have.
Oh the frozen tundra!!! 😫 Oh how I still remember!! The van looks great! Hopefully when you glued or replaced that piece of flooring and caulked around the drain. Yes you look totally from Minnesota! lol 😆 👍 The gas has nearly doubled since this video! I'm building out my pick up truck cap to travel in..hopefully gas will go back down as my 26' RV is retiring at the moment. 😢
Am happy there is someone closer to my age doing this van life thing! Am fascinated with folks living off the grid, particularly since the “lockdowns,” etc. Eamon and Bec rebuilt an entire van since international travel was restricted and Eamon is VERY gifted at fixing anything. They also rehabbed an old place. They are back to van life, and you may want to learn a few things from their videos along the way. Happy travels! Love from Vegas! 💚❤️💙💛💜
Hi 👋 wow the van looks amazing inside you’ve done an amazing job well done, when you re stick the floor down try putting something heavy on top of it to hold it down until it sticks, and the upholstery looks really nice 😊
Marie here from the Roadtrek site... I am soon to be 70 & ten years ago my little dog & I lived in our 93D190I for 2 1/2 years than I bought a house & my van is now my She Shed. I know you are planning to use your inside shower because you took the time to cut the holes but how is the vinyl going to hold up, am I missing something. Enjoying your TH-cam, good for you 🙂
Thanks, Marie! Love hearing your story and how you went out in the road for over two years. Did you enjoy it? Honestly, I’ll probably use the outdoor shower more or go to the gym I belong to that has them across the US to shower. I may use it once in a while. The vinyl is water resistant and if it doesn’t work out, it was so cheap I can always replace it or figure something else out. I’m willing to make lots of mistakes along this journey😄
@@AdvanturesOver50 YES... I loved living in my van, life was so easy then. Life is good now just different... bought a house with an attached apt & my 90 year young Mom & my teenage S.N. Grandson live with me. Been a care provider for many a year, just not so easy to get up & go. Bucket list is to live the end of my life trekking... and the fun continues... life is good!!
Oh shoot I see in your comments you already have a gym membership. Sorry I’m watching your videos out of order. I should have known you would know about getting a gym membership for showers.
You bought the material and paid 800.00?? WOW. That is highway ROBBERY. Those are easy box corners and straight seams. Even with a zipper it wouldn't take more than a couple of days (and that's being a novice or hobby sewer)!! You probably paid him close to 80.00 an HOUR. Damn. Find a tailor next time. It won't take months and it'll be far less expensive.
Believe me, I didn't know until AFTER the fact! And, in the area that I live, there weren't many upholsters and the wait was outrageous because they were so busy -- doing vans! I'm sure they jacked up the prices for vans because they know how popular it is now. I'm glad it's done and over and I wont' be using him again. Ugh.

Thanks, Britt! So sorry to hear about your home in Florida. But, now you have van life to look forward to! :-)
Yes !!! You look very Minnesodian !!!!
Enjoy life and say "Hi ♡" to Joy.

Your conversion is coming along nicely. We’ve all made newbie mistakes with our RV journeys. You’re doing a great job.

Congratulations! I’m excited for you and it sounds like a great rig! I miss redoing my van. That was actually the fun part for me!
I look forward to following your adventures. Thank you for sharing the journey. :-)
That poor van 🚐 is in shock coming from California 🌊🏝😂 Nice job.
nice
Yes, I sew and would just attach fabric choice to the current curtains.
And yes, that’s about right on price and mileage.
That’s a fabulous idea. My curtains are boring greyish beige.

Feel better. Your doing great. Where you born on Oct. 13th??
Wow, you can tell you are a caregiver for sure. Enjoy.

Already watch them for years and love them!❤️
@@AdvanturesOver50 I love that you are so real 💓
FYI: Bec currently has breast cancer, and so they are now dealing with that. 👎🙏
@@redpat8832 I saw the video. It’s amazing for how young and healthy they are. So sad.
@@AdvanturesOver50 Hopefully Bec will be fine...Just catching up with some of your videos. Looks like your surgery went well. 🙏🙏🙏

Glad it was not the gas pump hose that you ripped off after getting gas! LOL
Ha! Me, too!!!!
Those have been some wonderful changes.

Very nice! I’m thinking of VanLife at retirement (3.5 yrs)
You should do it! Even if it's just for a little while or just part time. I know I'll never regret this experience and having done it:-)
If you take a shower there the water will ruin the floor, it will leak and cause water damage.
Hi, Renilde. No, it's made to take a shower there. It has a drain that drains the water to the ground.:-)
@@AdvanturesOver50 wow that is awesome!!!! I was concerned for you! Good to know and I think this idea is amazing!! Love ur channel!
What kind of van do you have?
Just found your channel. Love the updates. Looks amazing
It’s a 2001 ROADTREK Versatile 190. 😁
You need a sewing machine and just to do it yourself. It's pretty easy to figure out stuff on your own. You could of done the cushions yourself too.
LOL another six months of winter... it feels like that sometimes.

800.00 and you supplied the materials that's not right.
