DISCLAIMER: This isn't a complete replacement for EQ Eight. This solution is just something I discovered while I was bored. If you find it too complicated to make (even though it takes less than a minute to) or you don't like the 3 samples latency, just use another EQ! The point of this video is to get more slope options using only stock plugins.
if the 3 sample delay is an issue for you, you can always put two filters with the exact same settings and the result will be a filter with twice the slope (you cant get 6db/oct tho)
@pavel_sidorov oh ty that's awesome! The only issue I have is that then the cutoff frequency is higher. Btw do you know why is it mathematical exact? I'm curious about it
@offsetemusic You're right. The first octaves the slope is 6 decibels, and after that the slope gradually increases (function changes). Yes, the cutoff frequency is displayed incorrectly, but by ear it sounds like a normal 6 db filter.
I have a hard time finding out where to get this? I think its for max for live right? but I dont really wanna get the whole package. Also if hybrid reverb is paid then I guess it doesnt matter, Im just curious since this would be an absolute fantastic alternative for me since I use abnleton intro and dont have EQeight
hybrid reverb isn't a M4L device, but it's only available on suite edition tho if you want a great 3rd-party free EQ plugin i would recommend TDR Nova or MEqualizer
Imagine how phase relation goes out of the window with any slope greater than 12 dB... Besides, there are many better EQ than Ableton stock EQ. Why would you need those extra steps?

I never thought about the extra slope options, that's so cool!!
You can also use all kinds of guitar amp/cab IRs (Trash 2 comes with nice ones) and the Vintage knob to get cool tones.

great tip!
Yes, you can get 6 dB per octave slope! Set the EQ Eight's Q value to the absolute minimum. That will be mathematically exact 6 dB slope.

it's not exactly the same thing (i checked it with bertom's eq curve analyzer) but it's pretty close! the cutoff frequency is way lower though

You can do this in eq 8 by varying the Q setting
q and slope are not the same mate
Slope and q are 100% not the same thing at all

honestly this was just a little experiment. it's not meant to be a full replacement for EQ Eight or any other third-party equalizer
But why not just use the eq????
i think you skipped 0:15
