Abilene Christian did NOT upset Tech on Tech's home field. Tech beat Abilene Christian 52-51. Tech is 5-1 and 3-0. But I otherwise appreciate the love for TTU.
Tahj Brooks didn’t even play against WSU though, so you’re right, this isn’t the same Tech team. Overall, I do like how each week Tech learns, grows and adapts their strategy. We have strong coaching for once. I sure hope this continues Here’s what I’m worried about: Baylor’s W/L record sucks but their loses are due to being undisciplined. They actually gave Iowa State a run for their money. I’m worried that Tech will get too cocky and could blow that one. I’m also worried that our line won’t get enough pressure on Sanders when we play Colorado. They need to come out like they did in the first half when they played Arizona.
Also going for it on 4th down on our own side of the field was just awful coaching. Defense improved tremendously against Arizona. We just need to be more consistent on the road and continue to make the Jones a threshold.
Tech's defense is very young. And it has at times been awful. But it also is improving and can make plays. Tech's offense is very balanced. Can run the ball, hit underneath throws or take deep shots if you sneak safeties up the way Arizona did.
Texas Tech is 33rd nationally. They are improving but earning narrow victories against unranked teams. Not the best, solid, and catching good variance at the moment.
Texas Tech is doing great, but... You feel they're more proven than BYU? How many teams did TT beat that were ranked or have become that? BYU beat 2. SMU, in it's 5 non-BYU games, is averaging 46 points. Against BYU, they couldn't get into the end zone ONCE, being forced to limit themselves to field goals. Kansas State, then #13 nationally, average 37 points on offense. Against BYU, again, 0 touchdowns. Kept to 3 field goals. Their defense has kept opponents to 15 average-EXCEPT BYU, who got almost 40. Our offense hasn't been great, I get that, but we score as much on defense and special teams as on offense. Can your offense defend? I'll admit that 9 teams in the Big 12 could take the championship (not Baylor, Houston, TCU, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, or Kansas,) and TT could do it... But they don't have an good a chance as BYU. And we're not likely to lose against AZ at our home. Not likely, man.
It's not about playing strong teams, when it comes to taking the b12 championship... you want the best record, and having an easier schedule is a big reason why Tech may get it. BYU is playing a harder schedule possibly and that is huge. Tech right now is the only team in the b12 with 3 wins and no losses in the conference. Cincinnati is a good team ASU is proving to be a decent team, and Arizona beat Utah and has a decent chance at a tops 4 loss season.
Comment sections on these videos are so stupid. I promise you, everyone, no one out there just secretly hates your program and is conspiring to make you look bad. If a particular sports commentator doesn’t pick your team as the best, it’s probably because from a more objective point of view than you as a fan are capable of having they don’t look that good. And yes every once in a while a program surprises you. That is part of the fun. If you spend your time claiming that commentators “hate your program” or are biased you sound so ridiculously unintelligent. I promise you he isn’t bigoted against your random school.
