@@ChumpyChicken2 My audience is from all over the world, so I try to use words that everyone understands / can relate to. Australians and Kiwi's know what nappies means, but when I use those terms there are lots of Americans, Europeans, and others who have no idea what it means. On the other hand, the vast majority, including Australians, understand the term diaper etc. so I use those to make my videos easier to consume for that global audience 🙂
I have to say, with no help to learn from family or friends due to distance, Emma helped me and my Husband so much. You Emma, are a life saver thank you so much! don't stop making videos!
As a new father of a 6 week old baby gir, I want to thank you for all the great information. Your "flex and hold" trick, which we saw in the other video, has at times been the only way to sooth her apart from breastfeeding.
Firstly congratulations on the arrival of your little one! And it’s so nice to hear you have found these videos a little helpful! My 3 also loved the flex and hold position!
a great tip we used at the beginning when our baby was younger and cried during bathtimes, was wrapping him in a light cloth which if I understand correctly helps him regulate the changes of sensations and cope with it more easily. Nowadays at almost 10 months, bath time is one of the highlights of his day! :)
@yaacovyoung The buffers, the things that don't cut, but sort of file - quickly Baby fingernails are a godsend. I even bought one for our dog! 😂 No sharp blade, they are sold online.
Thank you for this. I am a first time mom, and just gave birth to a newborn 2 weeks ago. I learned a lot from your channel! My husband and I watches your video and it helped. =D
You are a calm resource for parents in a new and often bewildering life change in caring for a newborn! I love to recommend your videos to parents I work with.
Thank you so much Adell I really needed to hear it. It takes the guilt and feeling of selfishness out of my shoulders… I’m sure my son will grow strong and healthy no matter which feeding option I choose. I don’t want to give up on breastfeeding that quick (he’s 3wo) although I think my mental health is also very important for his good development.
Who else clicked on this one just to get TH-cam to stop showing them a thumbnail of a butt getting wiped? XD Glad to learn some of these, though! Hope I get to use them one day!
One of the most useful advices someone gave me about babies is to buy sleepsuits with zipper and avoid buttons. It can be very hard to button the sleepsuits because babies tend to move a lot . It's even harder in the middle of the night if you have to change their diapper and you are half asleeped
Literally gasping in awe at the sliding down their onesie tip. Those shoulder flaps were staring us in the face the whole time and we had no idea 😮. Having to resort to all sorts of interesting ways to not get poop on our little bean’s head is no more 😂.
OH MY GOODNESS! I cannot WAIT to try the onesie-removal trick... we cut one off the other night during a poo-explosion because it was a little snug and baby was screaming & crying, we needed it off ASAP. Why didn't anyone tell us this sooner!? Thank you, Emma! Please tell us all of your secrets!!
İsnt it how you dress them in first place?!?! 😮😅 I always dress them from legs and they are made for it because baby necks are sensitive and fragile you cant put it from up that easily on a laying baby you have to hold the head try to pull and baby will feel suffocated as if you cover their face they dont know how to deal with it etc…
I used a wipe as a “peepee teepee.” Did the trick! I lift the legs, wipe bottom, wipe front, slide new diaper on. Done. I never liked layering the new diaper underneath because I was more likely to dirty it by accident.
A really good tip my partner found for our new boy was to use Q tips to clean in between toes in the bath. Really cuts down alot time trying to open toes to begin with.
My babe gets his diaper changed right before bed, and I don't have to change him until morning. He doesn't get diaper rash either from that, and he always gets some naked time in the morning after the night diaper is removed. Gotta air him out, lol
"This will help you avoid smearing poop all over your baby's body and head"... Well... I never even considered that😂 I'm due with my first this week and so glad I'm watching this!!!😂
Thanks for this video. I also use a size bigger for night that’s a good idea. Also, better do not close pamper too tight, for air circulation I always keep 1 centimetre extra before closing it.👍
Totally didn’t realize that’s what the overlaps were for on the onesies! I thought it was just to get their head through easier. We’re far from the constant blowout stage now but I’ll definitely do that with the next one!
Some babies are haha don't feel bad. My lil 3 month old girl when she is drinking her bottle she looks for my hand and she hold my pinky and look at me all in love.. Captivating me with her eyes and when I start kissing her all in love she gets tired and pushes me away hahaha... So don't feel so bad 😆
Glad I found this video! My exact question was how to prevent diaper rash when they sleep through the night. My 9 month old is finally sleeping through the night, but she has some diaper irritation. Thanks for the tip!
I never thought to pull the onesie down from the shoulders. I've noticed those shoulder flaps but just thought it was to easily get it over the head and through the arms. Thanks for all the tips!
Another trick is button all your ones and dress the baby from legs up. Instead of over the head. Makes it easier to wear and baby wouldn't be so fussy. I wash my lil girl clothes and when I fold I make sure all her ones are button up so when to dress her its just legs in and slide up.
Cant wait for baby's next bath!! we're definitely getting between those lil fingers and toes!! also the sliding down the onesie for blow outs is clutch!! all great tips!!
Full body sleepers are a staple for me. Wasted so much money buying one year worth of onesies (everyone swore on) and my baby CANNOT stand getting his arms through them, even the double sleeve ones with stretch. He will scream and fight now matter how gentle you are, and is unhappy until you take them off. Hope this spares a mom.
What do you recommend to babies that are cloth diapered? - I still change my baby's diaper at least once per night because unlike diapers with chemical super absorbers, it gets really wet.
2:53 unless it exploded all up her back and missed the nappy completely... to this day i still dont know how she managed it, her entire back but nothing in the nappy...
Thanks for the tidbit about the sleeves and pulling them down! My child just had a blowout on my lap while we watched this (haha!) and that was mighty helpful. It seems she's soon to outgrow the NB size because getting down those shoulders was harder than anticipated. Thank you, Emma!

Bath time stuff is so great! For boys, you can put a diaper underneath the previous one, then as you remove, cover with the new one. But, I prefer to pull two wipes. I cover with one and wipe with the other around the area, get the new diaper situated, and then finish the little bit with the wipe and strap the diaper. The NICU was super handy in learning some great techniques and practicing before bringing my son home.
I don’t know about waiting to change a diaper after a pee. I’ve heard that can increase the chances of your little one getting a uti (at least for girls anyway).
Tip #2 applies to baby girls too. They don’t arc as much, but my girl peed on the changing mat or directly into the fresh diaper so many times before I started doing this.
I discovered dog pads. Instead of buying baby changing pads that are about $30 for 10, you can buy the same pads for potty training dogs for about $20 for a pack of 100.
Amazing hacks. I tried the hack about flapping their diaper and also using the wet wipe on their belly and it totally worked on my boy.. thank you.. our home had turned into a laundromat due to constant accidental wees while changing him.
Hi Jessie! You could try different dummies but for some children they just don't like the dummy and will refuse to take it. Which is ok - it just makes travelling in the car a little more tricky if they are awake and screaming! My little one refused the dummy- no matter how much I tried.
Made the mistake of getting a month off coterie and they leak like a seive when it comes to the pee. Gotta keep up with the changing bc if lil one pees again, he'll need new everything changed
Reusable diapers don't seem to work the same way and baby wakes up and cries after wetting at night. Doubling up the liner helps, but we eventually switched to disposables at night because then he sleeps through.
It not just baby boys who do this, I tought girls had more a tendancy to do this as the vulva cover a much larger body surface; they feel it more. And always clean from front to back ;-p
Haha. Every parent heartache haha. I tilt my lil girl neck to the back or I play with her jaw which helps her open her mouth and somehow she tilts her neck backwards and I get in there or when she turns her head from side to side. But every baby different and it still ain't always easy hahah
I hold a toy that she likes high up above her head, when she looks up at it (which she does everytime) I then clean her exposed neck area 😊 works great!

A&D ointment, oh my gosh I cannot suggest it enough. Especially when they just come out of the room. Let me tell you that tar poop is like nothing when you have that barrier of A&d ointment.
Hi hon, I just looked up that ointment and there’s a warning on it that says the original a & d ointment for babies bottoms may cause cancer birth defects and reproductive issues because of a chemical that is in it. There may be more than one chemical in it that does that but just the warning, please don’t use this. When you look it up online, the warning is right on the info about it.
Hello mam, my son is 5 months old, his weight is 7 kgs still he didn't try to roll over. I tried many times to turn him on one side but he didn't co-operate and I tried to give tummy time. During tummy time as soon I put him down suddenly he started crying. Can you please suggest any ideas to roll over him fast
I would suggest taking him to the doctor. It seems like something is causing pain for him. Maybe something is dislocated or a pinched nerve. It's not normal behavior for a baby to cry suddenly whenever you put him down on his tummy.
@jo here all babies are different, but if your baby is suddenly crying when you put him on his stomach, it's probably something that you should talk to a doctor about.

Dont do tummy time, i didnt, and my adult girl is perfect, x
