    3:00: 'If you are playing with another player and you can't hear every detail of what he's doing, you're either playing to loud, or you're playing to much.' Thank you Tommy Emmanuel for these very true words! Basics like this should be a matter of course for EVERY musician.

    John: Don't make it blues pentatonic, but Gospel pentatonic
    Tommy: Aaah okay, right
    Tommy few moments later: 5:12

    I just hope my friend would understand that about the drowning thing, he plays the bouzouki which is a loud instrument if you compare to the guitar which makes me play louder and so on,,messes everything up.. So be a team player when you play with others because its frustrating and just making the music worse..There are special places when you will play louder when it NEEDS to... Cheers to you both from Greece!!

    Amazing how many artists revert back to a bit of Chet Atkins. He inspired so many guitarists.

    would u please explain the chord u say G passing tone diminished played by John and its symbol on guitar chords .....thanks

    • @jonmaclennan
      @jonmaclennan 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John plays a G#dim7 chord there at 1:18. It creates a half step bass movement from the G chord to the D/A chord. You can finger this chord 4X343X. Hope that helps!

    Tommy's guitars always look so used. I know any good musician plays a lot but Tommy's guitars always look like an old pair of jeans that have been lived in a lot. The one in this video is actually in pretty good shape compared to many of his.
