The best take home message here is the fact that Tommy himself admits/teaches us that even he struggles with his own songs and complicated grips. That makes it easier for me as a relative beginner to accept that these things are hard to do, and I don't feel that bad when I struggle.
I'm a classical guitarist, I don't play his type of music, but this guy has got to be one of the most gifted and brilliant players to go out and offer free advice on TH-cam. Whatever discipline you adhere to, this guys advice is gold.
It is so beautiful tones and so soft👍 it’s like you’re playing on a piano! 🙏🙏 And you are well explained and sharing your knowledge. Thanks so much 👌👌🙏🙏
Here's to those that learn to play this song the way the composer intended it. So many uploads of this and so few sound the same.. my favorite piece on the guitar, this man is a master. Great inspiration
Thanks Tommy! Very generous of you to share a lesson of one of your own compositions. Every time I listen to you, I come away wealthier as a guitar player. I've seen you live many times, hope for many more.
At the first glance it looks hard, but when you catched the rythm and synchronized tha fingers work.........omg......... unstoppable flow)) thank you very much Tommy for brilliant composition!
omg...I am having the hardest time figuring out the rhythm in measure 8 - i can't really see how to execute what is in the second half of the tab for that measure
Don't get me wrong I'm a Tommy Fan I have all the dvd's he has put out on how to play his songs but I have to ask how can true fire put out this video when I had to pay for it??
One of the most deceptively difficult TE songs to play. First 10 bars are easy but trying to weave the melody over the baseline on bars 11 and 12 is complicated to say the least.
I love Tommy, seen him live, one of THE best...but it annoys me when he says 'song', he doesnt write songs he writes musical composition. By definition songs have lyrics.
How many lyrics before it becomes a song ? Around the world by daft punk only has those “around the world” lyrics…. Is that a song ? Or a composition? What are the rules?
So, if TE covers a song that originally has lyrics and he plays the vocal melody, is his version no longer a song? Suppose there are lyrics to TE’s “songs”, but he chooses not to publish them? This is not outside the realm of possibility. I’ve seen him demonstrate melodies to his tunes and he often sings a lyrical phrase.

I love to watch Tommy's how-to videos, like I will ever be able to actually playing them one day.
Look at 11:02... just notice how he muted the low E string . He cant mention everything because it would take forever. What a great guitarist.
One hour, two bars no more fingers for today !!
Thanks Tommy ! 🤩
