Calakmul, Campeche, MX

Part 1.
I am on the road again. I am travelling to the small town of Conhuas in Campeche, where I will stay the night before riding Lady Kawoq down the difficult 60 kms or so to the Maya site of Calakmul. This site was very important in the Maya world and was inhabited from the Early Pre-Classic until its collapse in the late 9th or early 10th Century. Calakmul has one of the tallest pyramids, Structure 2, ever constructed by the Maya.
