The UK has never had Kenya's interest at heart, they bled us dry during colonisation; used our coffee, tea, pyrethrum sales to pay off their debts incurred in World War 2. After the 2nd world war they took all the food to feed their people and left our people to starve. Let's not even start on the atrocities they perpetuated during the emergency. In the early 90s, they signed up to the Maastricht Treaty becoming full members of Fortress Europe. Once the Iron Curtain went down, they began to invite Eastern Europeans to the country and scrapped the Commonwealth Youth Working Visa scheme for all the Black and Asian Commonwealth countries, the only countries which remained eligible were Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa (most whites were able to access the scheme because they could afford the £1,000 deposit) RACIST MUCH?

They took all the food ? How daft can you be? Did they take the land back to the UK to continue feeding the people? You have famine in Kenya because of corruption and mismanagement by the Kenyan Africans themselves.

@@douglaswamburu708 Wamburu You ar e so dumb, I am talking about what happened in the 40s and 50s, the UK did not have food during the war, the Germans were busy bombing them, they had no food and production ceased, that is why they introduced rationing, they had to take food from their colonies to feed their people and in doing so they impoverished the locals. Honestly, some of you are just living proof of how useless the Kenya education system is. You need to go out and learn beyond the history that is taught inn school.

It's not so simple. First came the missionaries with the aim of 'saving souls'. They really meant it. Then came the imperial empire to colonize and extract wealth using a company like the famous VOC. They built the railway to connect with Uganda and went bankrupt. The colony was handed to the direct control of the government. Settlers were brought in to help pay for the railway by farming cash crops. Uganda was profitable and they weren't abused like the kikuyu and kalenjins. The Great war destroyed the wealth of empire and prestige losing Ireland, by 1920s it was already dead to those who knew. There was a change in British mindset. They now viewed it their moral duty to civilize the world. They started to educate the natives, offering healthcare and teaching improved farming methods. The civil servants of that day viewed it as the white man's burden. At the end of WW2, they knew empire was over. They planned to leave all their colonies in an orderly manner. Nairobi was built up into a city by 1950 and progress increased towards the 60s. In areas like rhodesia, the settlers revolted against the British government and declared independence and a new state, same with South Africa.
Apart from south Africa, non of the colonies made significant money, most were huge loss makers. Remember there was the Great depression. All of the money made in the last 200 years was swallowed up in wars and colonies.
After giving independence, Britain was left with sunk costs, but mostly did not interfere with their colonies. Britain has no say whatsoever in Kenya, they however keep an interest in wildlife park and tea and don't concern themselves with politics.
That Britain of 1900s does not exist today. Just like another great empire the ottomans and Rus. The boarders of religion also became permanent.
King Charles means nothing really and any bitterness is to a world that long passed on.

I must recognize the brilliance of the diplomat.
However I don't agree with some of the things e.g when he allegedly said that the young generation is not focused on the atrocities of colonists; we have been the ones catalyzing the narrative.
I agree when he says there are far more important factors like opportunities available in a better relationship.
I recognize and commend him for having had a direct influence and action in the solutions that affect the world.

Charles is racist and classist, he has been sued TWICE by two different Black PAs for inter alia racism and discrimination. The 2nd PA Elaine Day even produced a memo in which he detailed his racist and classist views. To this day no one understands how she lost the case.
    The Memo was in response to a query from Elaine (who is Jamaican)> She asked him whether secretaries and personal assistants might one day aspire to become private secretaries or senior advisers in the prince's household. She explicitly excluded herself from the suggestion. His response was;
What is wrong with people nowadays? Why do they all seem to think they are qualified to do things far above their capabilities? This is all to do with the learning culture in schools. It is a consequence of a child-centred education system which tells people they can become pop stars, high court judges or brilliant TV presenters or infinitely more competent heads of state without ever putting in the necessary work or having the NATURAL ABILITY (RACIST). It is a result of social utopianism which believes humanity can be genetically engineered to contradict the lessons of history. (RACIST). What on earth am I to say to Elaine? She is so PC it frightens me rigid."
What natural ability does Charles have that qualified him to be King? Nothing. He just won the birth lottery- shot out of the right womb. It's common knowledge he is dumb, he went to Cambridge back doors, yet he has the audacity to talk about natural ability and genetics (essentially saying Africans are genetically inferior).

We need to forge forward and become competitive on the world stage instead of whining constantly about the past. We have been independent almost as long as we were a colony.

The British still control Kenya; they own the Tea farms in Kericho, their people own vast tracts of land eg the Delamares, the Lewa Conservation. Our presidents don't make any moves, unless Britain says so. That delamaere boy was killing Kenyans with impunity because he is related to the royals THREE different ways; through Sarah Ferguson, through Richard Duke of Gloucester, and through Prince Phillip

I hate to say this, but the elites know the score. Sankara was killed because he had the interests of his people at heart. Sankara, Lumumba, Cabral, Boumadiene, Machel, Biko, Hani, Sobukwe, Kabila, Magafuli, Gaddhafi (for all his drama and shortcomings, Africa benefitted alot from Gaddhaffi. Nkrumah and Modibo Keita were ousted. The stooges were propped up; Mobutu, the Bongo family etc. When you examine the facts, you begin to understand that no right thinking elite is going to buck the West, because they know they will be assassinated or ousted! Even worsem they may well be killed one of their own and the people will not say a word!
It is the people on the ground who need to decide which way to go. Change begins in the GRASSROOT. Sankara was opposed by both the elite and the peasants who were averse to change. After he was assassinated, it took YEARS before the masses stood up against Campaore. I suspect the Bukinabe were only able to oust him because he had become a liability to them!
The majority of people in Africa do not know the score, the system of education is geared to teach by rote and doesn't cultivate revolutionary thinking, subsequently the people are unable to understand how geo-politics impacts them on a daily basis. You only have to look at some of the comments in this thread to see that some people are dead, their souls are dead.
Change will not come, until the masses wake up.
