He said it’s cement glue didn’t you read!?!! Jk, seriously what is this witchcraft that has to dry then reactivates somehow when brought together and then boom it’s ready?

@@Funwithhighnotesthat is how contact cement works. You paint it on (usually more than one coat) and wait for it to dry. Then join the two pieces together. I have heard of people wetting one side (in this example let’s say the sole) and putting it together with the dry side as well but bottom line you don’t want both surfaces wet.

@ryansheehan340 explained it perfectly--we use an industrial cement called "Barge." Then, it's brushed onto both pieces that need to be attached. After, we wait about 10-15 minutes and press them together. George also hammers the shoe after to ensure the cement is solidly glued.

Ramosshoerepair, thanks for your info. I need to do some boot repair and have searched unsuccessfully to find out what adhesive to use so Barge it is which I’ve used for years on various mleather projects.

Is PU adhesive glue can be called Contact Cement/Adhesive as well since the latter is commonly rubber based? Do PU based apply on both aides and wait for it to dry then attach both together too because I see video of the glue is too dry and won't stick and need to heat with heatgun, but is it because of that or the heatgun has other reasons?

*As said from a reply to a comment, this is from @ramosshoerepair (the TH-camr who uploaded this video:*
*"we use an industrial cement called "Barge." Then, it's brushed onto both pieces that need to be attached. After, we wait about 10 - 15 minutes and press them together. George also hammers the shoe after to ensure the cement is solidly glued." The glue needs to dry that's normal. Then a heat gun is used to activate the glue on both sides. That's how the glue works to make both sides stick together effectively. I watched a ton of cobbler videos, and they said that's how the process works.*
